I would prefer more RPG and less shooter myself. Character builds were a bit more...personal in the first. In the second, I would often become frustrated when building a character's stats to have one point left; a point that, in the first game, could have still been used. I did not miss the clunky menu from the first game, but I did miss being able to sell stuff. Surely there's a middle ground to be had.

Edit: Ashley for relevancy XD

Yes but this is the Ash thread here.
Not the "Bioware sold out to Bro's part 4" thread.

So to swing back on to topic:

Right, right. How silly of me.

I always liked that picture. Yellow's not so bad for her either...I sure would like a spiffy new look for her in DLC or in ME3. Not an overhaul, just the treatment all the other characters got.

It also dawned on me that I find bigger lips on a girl attractive. I mean, I'm all about men myself, but I noticed when making female Shepards (and Wardens) I try to give them full lips, that...can sometimes be make or break for me (might also be why I think Miranda's just a bit of a butterface, lulz that's not my place).

Also, I'm sure her potential ethnicity has been discussed before, but...I'd have to throw in some possible Greek background.

Just to tie those two subjects together, I also missed, in the sequel, how the characters had more to say across hub worlds. Ashley, in particular, said a range of things depending on the gender of the Shepard. I was when she says comments the view of the Normandy from the Citadel, something like it's romantic "I mean, if you're into that sort of thing," or something to that extent. She was generally the more...careful one, as opposed to, let's say, Kaiden, but even she has her awkward but charming slip-ups.

Mm... it's probably been asked a dozen times but if Ashley is a companion in Mass Effect 3, would you prefer she'd reappear in her standard unchangeable phoenix armor or a new armor that makes her stand out?

I personally don't think she needs to be defined by a certain set of armor...assuming ME3 is like the one before it that in only Shepard's armor is customizable, I'd prefer something new. Doesn't have to be drastic, but some added detail would be appreciated.

Still, whatever they go with, I give her credit...being as she's among the few women who dress appropriately for deep space, apparently.

No pink armor please. I guess it's just my opinion, but it's stupid. I hope we can customize squadmates' armor in ME3 to at least some extent.

I can see Ashley packing a larger set of armor. This time she means serious business.

She made heavy armor look good, she did. And you can never have too many tanks!

Good morning fellow Ash Fans! If it's cool with you guys, i've had a thought that's been bugging me the past few days. If this topic has come up before and has already been discussed ad nauseum, feel free to skip it though.

In Mass Effect 2, it doesn't seem like we're meant to see the Alliance in a favorable light. They discredit him, they use his image in their recruitment posters, they refuse to take action against the Collectors or even investigate the missing colonies (With the exception of sending Ash/Kaiden, one person to one colony). Then in LOTSB it's revealed that many of the Alliance higher-ups want to arrest Shep and put him through extensive interrogation. No good deed goes unpunished, huh?

Anyway, my point is is that it looks like Bioware is setting us up for the idea of Shep going "rogue" and having to stop the Reapers on his own. Going under the delightful assumption that Ash will return as a Squadmate, that would mean she'd pretty much be going AWOL and ditching the Alliance, something we all know she'd just as soon cut off her own arm before doing. She was okay with going fugitive in the first game, I know, but that was a far more short-term situation. If she has to leave the Alliance in ME3, it'll probably be of the mindset of leaving it for good.

So my question to you guys is what do you think could possibly drive her to that, when even the threat of the Reapers, the Collectors, and even love for Shep all together couldn't do it?

Whew, that went on way longer than I thought it would!:P

The only thing that I think will remove Ash from the Alliance is if she finds out that Cerberus never really left, and that the alliance is as corrupt as we know it is, but she does not.

To be honest Ash really loves the alliance and seems to think its the best thing to believe in.

Me? I am waiting for the big reveal when we find out that Cerberus and the Alliance are still one in the same, and Anderson knew all along.

Well... If you blow up the Base than Ashley would be very inclined to join you. If you don't than Andersan can place her as a plant under Shepard to keep Shepard in check.

I always blow up the base, so its no concern of mine that people(outside of DLC) think that I work for Cerberus anymore.

However If I still work for Cerberus with no choice otherwise AGAIN I will uninstall ME3 and return it to the store. Dont sell a game as an RPG if its so railroaded, the Sims Railroads looks more open than your game.

Even if you don't blow up the Base, you're still not with Cerberus. Cerberus brought you back to deal with the Collectors, once that's done you're out roaming the emptiness of space and sleeping with everybody.

Ashley would probably be angry if you gave the Base to Cerberus, though she'd probably not outright spy on you. I'm sure even Anderson would understand why you kept the base.

Remember in Kenji's graybox there is info about the Alliance and the info could get them debanded. I think its either that they are funding Cerberus or aiding the reapers using Saren's logic that they will be saved and come to power. So if you told Kasumi to keep the info you can prove to Ashely that the Alliance is bad and she will join you.

I still think the Alliance works with Cerberus in ME1 Hackett never even talks to you after you do the Cerberus missions, and sounds really sad that you didnt get Toombs as well.
I wont be supsrised if Cerberus never went rouge.

Plus I enjoy flipping off TIM way to much, and reenacting the end of ROTJ to ever keep the base outside of my pro cerberus and pure renegade shepard.

Ashley would leave the Alliance if she became convinced that serving the Alliance was atangibly putting human lives at unnecessary risk, that the organization had corrupted the ideals of its foundation to the point where her broader duty of protecting mankind as a soldier of the Alliance supercedes her duty to the Alliance itself (I'm not convinced this is the case), and more simply put, if she believed it was the right thing to do.

Ash helped Shepard mutiny and steal the Normandy because he thought it was the right thing to do, she refused to join Shepard with Cerberus because she wasn't convinced it was the right thing to do, and if going AWOL from the Alliance is what she is convinced has to be done in order for her to keep her sisters safe and carry out her sworn duty to protect humanity then that's what she'll do.

Loyalty to mankind comes before loyalty to the Alliance or any other organization in Ashley's book. She doesn't trust Cerberus, she believes Cerberus is a danger to mankind and she refuses to work for or with them. Up until now, Ash hasn't always been rosy about everything in the Alliance (crap assignments and blacklisted family name), but she sees the Alliance as the best way for her to maintain her integrity as a person and do her part to ensure that her sister Sarah can keep finding herself odd boyfriends and not have to worry about being carpet-bombed by turians, sterilized by salarians , enslaved by batarians, or used as live bait for thresher maws (TIM, I am looking at you).

If she perceives the Alliance as a legitimate threat to humanity, she'd leave without a second thought.

Now, as for ME2 not painting the Alliance in a positive light, consider the fact that about 98% of what you hear about the Alliance in ME2 comes from Cerberus. Cerberus. Think about that for a second. Compare Allied propaganda to Axis propaganda from WWII and tell me if you don't see the exact same thing. I'm with Ash: I don't trust Cerberus. I note that we were not allowed to talk to Anderson about any of this, either; just another way in which ME2 tries valiantly to get us to turn our backs on its predecessor.

I agree with your thoughts on Ashley. That sounds like her to a T.:P
Though not all the info we got about the Alliance was from Cerberus. Hacketts' dossier in the Shadow Broker files shows that some of the Higher Ups in the Alliance feel that Shepard is a threat, or at the very least do not want to see him moving about with impunity. You're right, Cerberus isn't to be trusted, but looking at that, as well as what Jacob tells you (I dont think he'd lie for Cerberus; he seems just as aware of their past as Shep), I dont think the Alliance can be trusted either.
Hopefully, if this is indeed the route Bioware takes it, we can convince Ash of the truth before things get messy.

I hated how Bioware kept saying:
No really Cerberus is not all that bad.... please ignore the corpses in all the closets. And all the dead children under the rugs from Teltin. Dont look in the freezers those are the marines they killed.

Also dont check under the beds thats where we keep our anti-alien literature.

Dont look there thats where we torture innocent people for CERBERUS POWER!
I MEAN HUMANITY POWER!

By the end of ME2 I was almost giddy when I flipped them the bird and blew that base up in his face. Nice try bioware and TIM but the day I do anything to support incompetent pro-human extremists is the day someone shoves a fence post through my skull and replaces my brain with the Cerberus manifesto.

I'm sure this has been said before here, but I'm hoping in either future DLC or ME3 there will be a time to meet Ash's family at some point. It would be really cool to see the sisters messing with one another (and maybe even Shep lol).
