Cool story, bro!

Come on, now, seriously. Based on the three minutes of dialogue she had in the entire game? That doesn't seem fair.

Giggles_Manically wrote...

I really loved how the romance just flowed and was so natural.

Also for me it fit best with my Ruthless Vanguard.
He hated being called the Butcher of Torfan, and being treated like a monster by people in the Alliance.
Ash not treating him like a person really was nice, plus he likes girls that are up front.

Too
bad he got REALLY angry on Horizon, the email helped but for a long a
time he simply charged and beat people with his shotgun to release his
anger.

Oh hey, I romanced her with a Ruthless Shepard, too. Though often mine would do Renegade things and justify himself with Paragon words...sometimes. I like mixing it up a bit, and there are some...extremes I'd rather not take. I mean, mine was also a Colonist, so he'd have no reason not to try and save the colony on Feros. So...kind of a hardened, do-what-I-have-to, and I think Ash could appreciate that.

But anyway, I really liked how she tries to comfort you about it just before Ilos. She hasn't seen quite as much as Shepard (namely an Earthbor/Colonist one) but she's been around.

As for the "flow", I thought the transition was pretty smooth, too. I regretfully never did that first Citadel scene with the tin foil skirt (I still think about going back and doing everything just so), so the first time it became obvious there was something going on was...I think the talk about trusting the aliens, when she says she's not sure about letting Garrus and Wrex walk around the ship. Since I first played as a woman, after she says she'll kiss turians is Shepard wants him to, and seeing a new option, "What about me?", I just...well, I enjoyed it. So based on that, it was my Shepard who started things. I mean, hey, he's a Renegade...some regs are meant to be broken.

Are you serious? What a five minute cameo? Yeah let's not see things from her perspective then Posted Image Or are you that closed minded that you cant realise what someone would feel like in that  predicament.? She knows nothing about the Lazerus project, Shepard her lover/friend died and he is alive all of a sudden and working for a terrorist group (my uncle was killed by the IRA, if one of my friends started working for them or supported them I would kill them myself) and all Shepard could say was ''it's been too long Ash'' whoever wrote Shepards dialogue for that scene was the ass.

Calling her a ass becuase of a five minute cameo is beyond ignorant, thats like me calling Miranda a complete ass for saying about wanting to put a control chip in Shepards brain, killing Wilson without proof, and showing no care in the slightest for survivors. She became nice though, and not as cold in the end. So why judge a character on a five minute thing?

Also please realise that this is a support thread, if you are just gonna come in here and hate then you are a complete ass yourself. There are people who happen to like Ash. Please be more respectful to her fans as we are to any other fanbase, if you aint got anything nice to say, dont post in here, simple.

I've said this before but this is basically what happens on Horizon.

Ash:"Commander Shepard, first human spectre, savior of the citadel. You're in the prescense of a god-"
Bioware::devil:"-ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL":devil:

Ash:"TRAITOR!!"

The concept for the argument was good and it has added more depth to the romance. However it is very poorly executed(Aside from TIM's dialogue "They might be using her to get to you." Sends shivers down my spine every time i hear it). The cutscenes at the begginning of Horizon show that your former LI is in danger. When  the Collector ship leaves. You think your former LI is captured by collectors. But lo and behold she isn't. Commence with the happy reunion(and perhaps makeup sex). Except Bioware now decides to pull the biggest kick in the balls by having her react the way she did. What pisses me off the most about this is that i feel the reason they did this was to get everyone to try out the shiny new LI's made of Ink(I actually respect jack as an LI), Botox, or wearing a hazmat suit(filled with cheesy dialogue).

Basically you spend the whole mission worrying about her and anticipating a happy reunion only to be extremely dissapointed.

I...honestly wasn't expecting too much. I already knew she wouldn't be joining my squad again, so I figured there would be some problems. I sure didn't like it; I wanted to tell her my hands were tied, I wanted to assure her that Cerberus was merely the best--the only--tool at my disposal and the threat was too great to wait it out. And I sure didn't want to talk to her like she was in over her head, that I was on a big important mission and she just wouldn't get it because she "too emotional".

Of course I didn't like that she couldn't give me the benefit of the doubt. Of course I didn't like being accused of being a traitor without really defending myself. I just...took it with a grain of salt. I could think of character related reasons for the way she acted. How she's known the Alliance a lot longer than Shepard, how she's been getting info about Shepard's involvement, how you don't just drop everything and quit your post. But...I just see it as a plot device. Ash/Kai can't be die, so they don't come. That's cool, I'll see you guys in ME3.

I wouldn't expect anyone to like Horizon or anything, but jeez, the backlash...Maybe I would have been more offended at Ash/Kai's words if I had the option of concerning genuine relief and then they spoke the way they did. But at best, Shepard acts like the VS is just some acquaintance or work buddy they hadn't seen in a while. That's really the part where I'm outraged. That's made all the worst if they were romanced...the initial hug and relief was nice, but the words that came after...

But no, everyone acts like Shepard is totally blameless and Ash and Kai are just cutting their wrists over...you know, their former commander working with a terrorist group. Omg, I know, what drama queens.

Damn it, though, I wanted to hug Ash even as a FemShep. Come on, Bioware! She's Sloane Shepard's sister from another mister! Let them be allowed to act as such!

Overall...I did not enjoy Horizon, but I'm sure not going to dismiss her as a character for that one tiny scene.

Some new Ash lineart just popped up on dA. I suppose it's kinda sorta almost NSFW-ish to a point, but considering a pic I just last night saw posted on the Morrigan thread (and in color) I don't think it's too much for a public forum to handle.

Nice, love the art. And no, I don't think this should be a problem, there's no.... "Bits" on display in any case, whatever it's always nice to see some tender Shepley art works on display.

I didn't like the dialoge for Horizon either. But at least for me I reacted like a normal relationship fight with the thought that I was right all the way then when I thought about it I would have been pissed if I was in their shoes. I think that is what Bioware was going for. But it still would have been better if Sheperd act like nothing happened. And nice Shepley art

Horizon mainly irks me that there is ZERO followup or mention outside of one line in LOTSB (does not count) and Shepard looking at their picture right before the Omega 4 relay.

Added to that is the email. I liked Ashley's email but if Bioware wants to say to people:

THE VS STILL LOVES SHEPARD.

Dont leave so much room for a maybe or a way out.

I hate that scene.

When the Virmire survivor finally returns in either DLC or ME3, would it be a good idea if they would make a comment on Shepard's scars perhaps? It was something there also was lacking in ME2, so having someone say something would be nice.

What would Ashley say?

The lack of outside comment of the scars didn't bother me too much because I played as a Paragon and the scars go away quickly. Also by the time I get to horizon the scars are barely visible if at all.

@Estel Indeed, I do love to see Ash and Shep getting the same kind of love and attention as is frequently given to myriad other Mass Effect couples in fan art.

I love that snuggle pic of Shep and Ash, i too agree with Giggles_Manically.

A mission related to Virmire is perfect. It would help bring in people who started with ME2, but also provide ME1 players with an incredibly way to remember the teammate who isn't there with you, and to help explore some more emotional issues, just as LotSB did.

Revisiting Virmire would allow you to talk about the difficult decision you made there, and could act as a way in to the rift that's grown between Shep and Ash/Kaidan since working with Cerberus. Shep has an amazing attachment to Ash/Kaidan because of the events on Virmire, and going back would be a wonderful opportunity to try to re-establish some of those links.

For the mission itself, I'd love to see it range across different locations, with Virmire as the last location, perhaps. There was an interesting piece of information that was never followed up on in ME1 about Virmire: about the research student who was attacked by those pod crabs (or whatever they were), which was out of character because they are docile creatures. That always struck me as odd, and I always wondered whether there had been attempts at indoctrinating them, as a side project I guess while the geth were on Virmire. Something interesting might be able to come from following up on that.

Perhaps Ash/Kaidan had been following up on it, if they saw a recent report on the case, since they would obviously have a thing for Virmire and it would pique their interest. It's just in council space, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that they'd be able to wangle the assignment, and because of Shep's experience there with them in ME1, and due to the complexity of the case, they call on him/her for assistance, perhaps grudgingly at first.

If this isn't the premise for the DLC I'll weep :(

Its easy to stay loyal as a Vanguard.

Nothing takes out agression like blasting collectors upside the head with a boom stick.

If the VS DLC is never made, then Ashley and Kaidan had better show up in ME3 in a big way. The wait is killing me and my Shepards.

Bioware has to give the VS a huge role in ME3 or a DLC cause they both are loved and hated which makes them a great characters and Bioware can't ignore great characters.

Indeed, I have alot of faith though we will see something big for Ash and Kaidan, look what they did for Liara! Bioware said they werent squadmates in ME2 so they cant die in the suicide mission, they want the VS to be alive for ME3 (I just hope Bioware was being sincere) That means something big, they are needed. The VS, Anderson and Hackett being Shepards last ties with the Alliance means there is alot of potential for something big, especially the fact that the VS is going on classified  missions for Anderson, and that there file is so classified  too.

I love that pic too! Good find! Posted Image

I wish there was more room for pics in the Ashley for ME3 group, but we ran out of space! lol.

And here is some more stunning Ash art, this is by ower very own Badpie! Posted Image

Great pic, I hope that if Ashley does return, she's gets more then just a "Oh look, it's you from ME1, nice seeing you again, well bye for now, see you one more time probably later on in the game to complete your Guest Appearance".

I hope she's a part of the story, if not playable, at least continuing the relationship she had with my Shepard character story wise, and not just a mere "Guest Appearance"

I put alot of work into building that relationship in Mass Effect 1 (Wrex also, that was my squad, did every mission together), it would feel like I kind of wasted my time if they're not continuing that storyline for them in ME2 outside of a few, again, "Guest Appearances" Ash had better come back. It would be horrible that Liara was the only love interest to return. I liked every asari in the game except her, she was too much like a 16 year old at a sleep over instead of sophisticated archaeologist on a mission.

I personally think Liara is alright, but I agree all LI's should get treated fairly,. Like I said above im sure Ash and Kaidan will have a big role in ME3, judging by all the evidence and the fact Bioware wanted to keep them alive for ME3.

Bioware have been hush hush on news about any more dlc since LotSB, they only said that was the first of bridging dlc, that is a sign the VS is next (or on the list) plus all the support the VS has had in the groups and dlc threads.
