Dont know how the comic being released on pc and 360 would change things. It would depend on when it played on those versions which could be different then the ps3. So it might not be and issue.
If people get angry over this. Be angry at bioware not Liara or her fans.
Ash is worth it.

It's not an insult. Liara is a vital squadmate; what use would replacing her with some generic other crewmember have been?Elite Midget wrote...
Bioware could have worked it differently without just throwing out the humans and replacing them with a Hot Bisexual Blue Alien Woman who apparantly isn't really a Woman after all.

In the meantime, I'll think thoughts of Ashley in a red-and-white tinfoil miniskirt and fuzzy thigh-high boots on this Christmas weekend. : )

I think a lot of this has to do with both Ashley and Kaidan potentially being dead in ME2. They can't be made as individually important to the plot as Liara, and have to occupy an interchangeable slot. I'm sorry for the fans who're upset by this: personally, I'm not.Elite Midget wrote...
Well, for starters Liara has a chance to continue her relationship and even got her own DLC. Now Ashley and Kaiden don't even appear in the intro anymore and instead they're replaced with Liara. Hell, Liara was planned for a while as her audio logs are proof of this. While Ashley/Kaiden have no word if they'll get any DLC or if they'll be important in ME3 while Liara is now the SB and will be hugely important to the ME3 Plot.
This is why I hope ME3 simply assumes that the entire squad survived regardless of the decisions made in the suicide mission. It'll make constructing the plot much easier and allow everyone to have an individual place.

Bioware heavily favors Liara. Such incidents as ME2 itself, the Kasumi thing, her own dedicated DLC (where she even calls Ash/Kai short-sighted), all this expansion of her presence; and in the meantime, Ash/Kai's presence is actually diminished.
Because Liara can't die, she is also obviously much more important in the Mass Effect story (ever since ME1). One of Ash/Kaidan is dead in ME2, they might get a DLC and I hope they will, but honestly, they are both just above average Alliance Soldiers.

I do not condone in any way, shape or form the removal of Ashley and Kaidan from their already extremely limited role in ME2. I am opposed to them losing their sole moment of positive screen time.
I agree completely, LZ.
Now what do the PS3 players get? A three minute cameo on Horizon with Ash or Kaidan yelling at Shepard, a message for those who chose them as their LI, plus the cut-short picture gazing scene. Great.

I don't think this argument is really valid as all LIs are featured in the Kasumi DLC and Liara DLC - if played after the SM the ME2 LI could be dead, too - except for Ash and Kaidan.
In addition to that, one of them - be it Ash or Kaidan - is always alive, no matter what.

Wait, it's Liara? What the heck Bioware! You kick Ashley to the curb even more by replacing her and Kaiden with Liara? Really? What the heck!
Are you pushing that Liara is somehow 'better' than Ashley/Kaiden?
This only further dimishes of any Ashley/Kaiden DLC. It seems that if you aren't an Alien you aren't going to be shown the same level of respect after all.
I know this is the Ash Thread, but I feel this needs to be clarified.
The fact that they only have Liara run up to Shepard now on the PS3 version is due to a few reasons. The primary of which being the interactive comic, Mass Effect: Genesis. Genesis plays after Shepard dies in the beginning, it covers the events of the first Mass Effect, and allowing the player to make choices such as the fate of Wrex, the state of the council and who died on Virmire. Now, since they didn't want to assume who died on Virmire, they go with the neutral element because the scene in which they are featured happens before the choice is able to be made.
And they have Liara run up to Shepard instead of some random crew member because a) They would have to record new lines not only for this character but for Shepard as well, andThe random crew member would have absolutely nothing to do with future events in the storyline, unlike the Virmire Survivor.
So, the replacement of Kaidan or Ashley with Liara is not supposed to be a snub to either of them. It's a decision that frees up a decision for the player.
Thanks for the clarification Indigo. One question will PS3 owners still be able to romance ash/kaidan?

You can choose your LI in the comic it seems.
The comic book should have been first to set your decisions and then the game started,
with your LI choice in the opening scene.

I don't think it has anything to do with Liara being more liked, or Bioware caving into the Anti-VS fans. The comic is suppose to take place after Shepard dies, and my guess is VS' fate is determined in that comic. It'd be a little odd for Ashley to appear in the opening scene only to die in the Prologue comic, so Liara was the only logical choice.
Correct. But why put the comic after the opening? Why not first? I hear the comic is a DLC even for the PS3. So if that is true with out the comic shouldn't the PS3 version play out the same as the 360 and PC? Now when the comic DLC comes to PC and 360 will it play at the begining or will it play after the opening of ME2 and change the default opening for those platforms and remove Ash and Kaidan there also ?
Like I have said, good reason, bad reason, or no reason , the removal of Ash and Kaidan from the intro of ME2 is bad. It takes away screen time when they already had so very little. That is a very bad thing for what ever reason.
