I do think it would have been interesting if Ash had had a unique body model, but frankly I think she's perfectly fine as is--and I think the temptation to make her a barbie could've been too much for the devs. I like that she's a soldier and has the physique to match (at least as far as video games go), and like Kate said, she makes heavy armor look good.:D

I agree. I like her look now.  If she did have her own body model I would hope they would keep her similar.  Right now I see her as thin, but very toned, tall with slim waist and hips, smaller breasts and and fantastic butt.  Hehehe.  I like the way she looks.  She is strong and athletic while still maintaining some feminine curves.

Ash is quite the dancer:wub:

They need more of this in ME3...perhaps a slowdance with Shep maybe?

That would be sweet, but my Sheploo doesn't dance. Ever. :P

...okay he might make an exception for a nice slow dance with Ash...

Am I the only one who thinks she looks like she's getting ready to do finger quotes in this picture?: Ah yes, "dancing."

Also, she looks fantastic in that armor.

That chart is ruthlessly simple and blunt. Nice find XD

Andyeah, sometimes it seems like...if a female character isn't blatantly "hot" she'll either be hated or ignored. Alien characters would be exempt, I think, for their, well..."exotic edge".

I mean, Ashley's reasonably attractive--which, truthfully, is a part of why I like her--but in video games, that's not enough, especially given her personality.

I agree!

While I do have a Shepard [Female] who romanced Liara, I always find that my Shepard [Male] who romanced Ashely to be more realistic. I say that because Ashley as a character is very real unlike Liara and Tali which are just your token hot alien chicks. Ashley really seems like that hot female you see taking down shots in the bar and find out later that she is actually in the Army/Marines which in a way, makes her even more attractive.

I think a lot of the hate/disgust of Ashley comes from the fact that she is a strong minded female who isn't submissive and overly "girly" like......Tali for example. The idea that Ashley can literally hang with the guys is a bit of a turn off to most guys which is why Liara and Tali remain more popular. Not because they're aliens, but because they are well......submissive.

I do like Liara as a character. None of my male Shepards have ever romanced her, though.

I feel like Ashley and Shepard seem to have more in common.  Also, I feel like their romance seems to have more of a natural build up to it.

Ashley is one of my favorite romances, when it comes to that point in ME2 where I hae to choose her or Miranda though....that'll be where I make seperate playthroughs to see how both paths turn out. Or hopefully we won't have to wait for ME3 and we get a Virmire survivor DLC and we can nip that in the butt now. *prays for VS DLC*

I grew to respect Miranda as a squad member as well as a person, especially after her loyalty mission.  Always a little tempted, but I've never strayed from Ash in any of the ME2 playthroughs.

Even with Miranda in the game, I still feel like Ashley is the one who has the most in common with Shepard.  Also, Miranda just doesn't seem like very stable relationship material to me.

While I do find the "make Ash hotter" thread idea rather silly, the digital model could use a face lift to fit in with the higher capabilities of the ME3 engine. :)

Some laugh lines and other similar refinements would be in character. Keeping the same face model, of course!

Well for me I played mass effect 2 before I had the chance to play mass effect 1. there's a backstory to that but I'll save it this time. My only Ashley experience with my first ever male shep was her yelling at me for joining Cerberus, so naturally I was like "wow what a Biitch." and "what happened in the first game to make her so angry with my guy?" I romanced Miranda and my friend noticed me playing ME2 on on XBL and let me borrow his copy of Mass effect 1. so my first thing was to find out what Ashley's deal was and then I was able to experience her romance prior to her yelling at my o Horizon and loved her immediatly (Sorry Kaidan), so for me ashely doesn't have that "she was here first" edge which goes to Miranda in my case. I adore both characters equally and they'd easily be co-XO's on any Normandy my Shepard's command and the main squad on any mission where both are selectable.Posted Image

I love Ashley because she can be funny and witty without being disrespectful.  She can dance but not show off.  She is gorgeous but has realistic proportions compared to characters like Miranda or Samara.  She is religious without being apologetic about it.  And she is capable of letting loose, but still remaining respectable like the marine she is.

I imagine her to body to look like that of Mirandas model. You know, the real Yvonne, not what BW turned her into.
She fits your description perfectly.

Really? Liara's quite forthright about what she wants even in ME1, if a bit nervous about it, and in ME2, well... coffee cups. Tali's a bit closer to that, but she's just as capable of handling herself as Ashley is, just with familial uncertainty instead of familial rebellion.

I think most of the hate comes from clumsy writing on the speciesist stuff.

In a way, that's understandable.
However, Liara kept seeing herself as weak in ME1 as noted in her dialogue in LotSB. As noted in the first game, just the second conversation she admits to liking you with no real connections as to why.
And Shepard did have to save Tali twice- three if you count her loyalty mission-, making her seem a bit weak and helpless. Tali's always been that dream girl on the block from the moment many people first saw her.

Both like Shepard from the get-go, though Tali doesn't admit it until ME2. Now Ashley, Shepard has to work on, making her as an LI more realistic.

I think most of the hate comes from clumsy writing on the speciesist stuff.

Now this I still have to agree with. Even though Majestic did bring up that interesting viewpoint with submissiveness, all you have to do is play nice with the potential female LI's and they'll like you.

Submissive probably wasn't the clearest word, but in comparison to Ashley's romance, Liara and Tali's  contained more "ego stroking." Guy rescues his damsel in distress who falls madly in love with him. In the case of the former (Liara) it was more following the formula while the latter (Tali) felt more like fanservice to all the Tali fans.

I agree that the other LI's seem like they need Shepard While Ashley is strong on her own without Shep, the same way with Miranda and Jacob. Hell Ashley even has a line where she says she doens't need a knight in shining armor. I love that she's strong on her own and it does kind of make me wonder what would happen if she'd seen the data on the prothean beacon with Shepard.

One thing I just now thought of that surprises me is that neither Virmire Survivor has an information terminal in LotSB.

I was suprised to. Even though TIM said their files was suprisingly well classified the Shadow broker already got transmissions from Admiral Hackett so why couldn't he or Liara dig up somehting on Ashley or Kaidan?Posted Image

I think maybe this has been discussed in here before, but... if she did have one, what do you guys think should be in Ashley's Shadow Broker dossier?

I guess maybe extranet searches on Shepard's whereabouts, what's he's up to, and his connection to Cerberus. Also, correspondence with one or more of her sisters.

The dossier also could have hinted (through e-mail correspondence or whatever) at what she was referring to in the Horizon scene when she said that she "almost" did something when she thought Shepard was dead.  I've seen speculation that ranges from almost killing herself to almost losing faith to almost sleeping with another guy.

Something about what she and shepard were up to during the month before the collector attack, how she was during the 2 years following the attack and before Mass effect 2 and what she was doing when shepard resurfaced before Horizon. also some message trheads between her and her family and possibly her being pregnant witha malesheps child? Because I doubt Shep had a drawn of condoms on a military vessel.

Which is why smart women like Ashley do not rely on men for this.
