What would I do if all the ME2 folks came back and Ash didn't? Not buy ME3. Period. It would be the final nail in the coffin and the final bit of proof I would need to know that Bioware officially hates Ashley and Kaidan. I don't think this will be the case, but they seem to be delivering a strong message about Ash and Kaidan: their sh*tty appearance on Horizon, the email, no mention of them by Kasumi or Liara. Bioware would say it's nonsense probably but you know what? Give me something then. I'll be happy to eat my words if they do those characters justice in some dlc or ME3, and I'm holding out hope for that, but jeez. They make it really hard to think they'll do that.
As for making her an adversary in ME3, I can see how that could potentially work if done well, but I don't trust that it would be done well. And I don't think she would ever actually be an adversary for Shepard. When it comes down to it, she's got her head on straight. Her email suggests that she's not only regretting what she said, but that she understands him working with Cerberus and why he has to do what he's gotta do. Plus Ash doesn't seem the type to kowtow to beaurocrats just because they're in charge. If anyone decided to take action against Shepard she'd be one of the most vocal opponents of that action.
As for her views on aliens, I'm sick of people not paying attention. Not only does she never come off as racist in the game AT ALL, but the game actually makes it a point to have her address racism and bigotry as being a bad thing. Nevermind that her writer specifically said what his intentions were - that she's a pragmatist, a realist. Admittedly she was somewhat ignorant about interacting with other species, but.... you know what it's not even worth going on. People are idiots.
And now I've ranted.
Ash makes no apologies for who she is and what she thinks. Some Shepards aren't man or woman enough to handle that. So there.

On that note, I replayed Horizon last night. And I really noticed just how much ME2's storyline railroads you--almost to the point of encouragement--into saying that your relationship with Ashley is over. TIM essentially tells me to put my past relationships behind me. I had the option of telling Kelly that the relationship is history; if I choose a neutral response with Joker when he asks about the encounter, he says, "Oh, so it was a mutual thing, that's good." Not to mention that my squadmates during the encounter derped about how Ashley was so short-sighted on Cerberus's history that she was ignoring the "real threat."
I see it more as a testing of my relationship with Ash from me1. If it is not strong then TIM, the me2 LIs, and even my squadmates gave me plenty of opportunities to move on. The meeting on Horizon, while a fiasco, still showed we had feelings for each other that were confirmed in the email that Ash sent.

I don't know. I shouldn't be cluttering up your thread with my paranoia. Have this Ashley instead:

And see part of me really likes this. I like to think that Bioware was really creating an opportunity for overcoming all these obstacles and showing how much SHepard and Ashley mean to each other.... But I'm sorry I just don't think the writing is that good. I will continue to see it that way in my head though.

As for Horizon, both parties are at fault. Despite most opinions Shepard gives as the main details of why they're working for Cerberus : Shepard died and they brought them back; the Collectors are attacking human colonies and no one besides Cerberus is doing anything about it; the Collectors are working for the Reapers who don't exist to the council. Hell if I was n Ashley's shoes I'd say "Sign me up Skipper, time to blast some more bad guys with my boomstick!" but As Garrus and Tali will say on Horizon she's letting her feelings for cerberus get in the way (even if you don't do the cerberus missions or even speak to kohaku at all in me1) of the truth. The Email was a good sign that she gets it now and is open to working with Shepard again and that's what I'm hoping for, not: "I'm sorry skipper but *aims gun at shepard* I've been ordered to bring you in."

Ash: Shepard. You got my email? When you didn't respond...
Shepard: I know. I tried. There was no button. Also I owe you an apology. That was...some of the worst writing ever on my side and well...I couldn't really do anything about it.
Ash: I know. We both looked like asses.
Shepard: Right? I'm glad that's over.
Ash: Me too. Wanna do it?
Shepard: Come 'ere you.
Bag it, sell it as dlc. I'll buy it. XD

I am glad that Ash or Kaidan did not drop everything, abandoned their responsibilities and joined Shepard with only his/her word to go on.

The Collectors are working with the Repears so says Tim, Shepard didn't present any evidence for it, so how will the VS know Cerberus isn't just trying to manipulate Shepard for its own means?
Humans colonies are going missing, why would they automatically link that to Reapers?
The arguments for and agaisnt Horizon just makes me wish they'd do Dallas and pretend like it didnt happen next meeting.
I never post in this thread however I like Ashley alot. I really don't understand all the hate Ashley suddenly has. I don't remember any of it when ME1 was release esspecially all this stuff about her being racist. People keep throwing that word around her like they don't know what it means.

Full of win, but watch them just rip the ME1 love scene of Ashley and Shepard, and put it in the DLC.

It's always Joker. It's like his dubious super-power. Clearly, we need to create a nemisis for him so this problem can be solved. I volunteer.

Might be the one and only time my Shepard would just punch someone in the face for somewhat annoying him.
