All this talk of science makes me wonder... what advice would Mordin give to a Shepard who's romancing Ash?

I understand he does give advice to Shepards who romance Jack, Miranda, etc...

Mordin: ah shepard, need to talk. Understand, big mission, species react differently to strees, need release. Need to caution you, read up on Operation chiefs file, aware you've been trhought his before, but, been dead two years, your body still same hers grown, matured more. Stamina, might outlast yours, perscribing energy tablets, wouldn't want commander ot be drained by off battlefield hell cat.Posted Image

I wonder if he would make a quip about Shepard's upgrades :P

You know, all the ones that interface with his body (Hardened bones, nanomachines that massage his muscles so he can do more melee damage)

Wish Mordin would comment on those kind of things when talking about...."Medical matters" :D

Eh. Horizon was written terribly. I doubt they intentionally included it as an indicator of her attitude having changed for the worse. More likely, it's simply because both Ashley and Kaidan are completely out of character on Horizon.

A part of me thinks they were just trying to go with the dark tone of ME2, trying to make the expierience sad. Instead they made Kaidan and Ashley completely out of character, ow they did make it a sad expierience alright, they ruined a big part of ME2 for alot of people.

And the other part of me thinks they did that intentionally, to try and get us to go with the new shiny Li, who I found mostly shallow compared to the ME1 LI's.

I dont know what Bioware was going for, I just hope it all pays off in ME3, and that we get a spectacular expierience. I'm still hopeful for some VS dlc too! That will make ME2 better for ALOT of people.

I dont want the PS3 fans coming to ME2 and just hating Ash and Kaidan becuase the only tine they see them is on Horizon when they are arguing with Shep, thats gonna bring alot more haters sadly.

That's a fear of mine, as well. Many people who HAVE played the first game have already dismissed Ash/Kai completely, PS3 players will have no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I would claim it was more out of character for Ashley than Kaiden. No offense to him, he just seems more...sensitive, and the idea of his former commander and friend and/or lover coming back from the dead and not even trying to tell him would bother him more. And not that he'd stay depressed, he'd just need a little more time. I can imagine Ashley refusing to believe Shepard would ally him/herself completely with Cerberus.

Out of character or not, it is still an uncomfortable situation. The Alliance is part of her life, and you don't just quit being a marine, right?

I just ran into a "drag Ashley through the mud" thread and felt I should voice my support.

See, that is exactly what I'm talking about! Really boils my potatoe. You know, I see some of these reactions to Horizon, and--not like I enjoyed it or anything--but to me it seems to show a lot of...selfishness. You spent all of the last game fighting alongside the VS, and all it takes to mess it up is a two minute tiff? Like everything before that point no longer matters because it's not now. I hope these people don't abandon their friends the first sign of a
disagreement...Maybe I'm putting myself on a pedastel, but there's only so many laser-focused obscenities I can take.

Agreed. when I started my first ever Me2 playthrough (no ME1) I was like "that B1tch" how dare she say that! when I finally played ME1 and imported, I was like "Ash...come on! you gotta believe me!" getting to know her and care for her changed it completely for mePosted Image

I have seen a few claim they've lost respect for her after that, although I do not doubt your words. Still, it was...extra fuel to their flames. Whenever the VS shows up again...it'll have to be something spectacular. They deserve nothing less.

What I don't get is how people can still be mad at the VS after all this time.
Okay, I get the intial response. That was nasty to all involved, however if romanced Ashley (I'll say Ashley here because this is her thread) does send a very personal email apologizing for what she said to Shepard on Horizon.
Also when you talk to Anderson and select the 'you were spying on me' option he says something along the lines of how Ashley's report from Horizon actually confirmed Shepard's story, and that although she tried she couldn't find any evidence linking the Collectors to the Reapers to present to the Council.*

*I note this is my interpretation of in game dialogue so don't hurt me if I got anything wrong.*

So basically, she apologized, the 'act of betrayal' when she reported to the Alliance actually benefitted you and she's tried to find evidence to support you to the Council but is having no luck so far. Doesn't that kind of show that she IS loyal and she IS trying to help? I mean come on, what more can you ask for?
So what, she disagreed one time in an emotional situation so that undoes all the stuff she's doing to help? Never mind that she believes you, never mind that the report to the Alliance confirmed Shepard's story to the Alliance higher ups and nevermind the fact that she tried (and did not succeed) to find evidence to support Shepard's 'Reaper Theory' to the Council. She disagreed on Horizon initially and that's all that matters?
One four minute cameo should be what defines her?

What a crock. If you ask me, in her current position she's no different to Liara or Wrex, both of whom didn't come with you either. They didn't get condemned for it. So Ashley shouldn't either, she apologized and both believes you, understands your position and has (either intentionally or not) in one instance helped you and is attempting to still by trying to convince the Council of the Reaper threat.
Sure she didn't succeed but she did still try to find something, a far cry from the idea that she's 'forsaken' Shepard and the Reaper threat.

That's what matters to me, anyway.
Seriously though, people act like Ashley/Kaiden completely abandoned the cause and are now denying the Reapers, you ask me the little subtle hints that are very easy to spot should speak loud enough. From my view anyway.

Hopefully if precedent is anything to go by Virmire Survivor is destined for greatness. Wrex is leader of the Krogan and almost single-handedly saving his species from a slow extinction, Liara is the new Shadow Broker, and Garrus and Tali are still kicking buttock on board the Normandy.

Also didn't Jesse Houston tell someone in a PM  a while back that they have something big lined up for the VS? Anywho, good fortune to you Ashleyrinos... or Ashleymancers.... Ashlos.... what do you guys call yourselves? Posted Image

I didn't get ME1 until April 2010 so I never visited Bioware forums.

I heard Kaidan was hated a lot. I can get why from some douchebags but Ashley too?

What I hear is that as bad as things are now for the both of them, it used to be exponentially worse on the old forums (before my time).

I think it's mostly becuase there human, notice how all the most popular characters are alien?

I think they just pick at little things, and things Ash and Kaidan say and turn it around, Ash says ''it's not racism'' they scream ''racist!'' Kaidan says he ''dosent want you to think im a winer'' they scream ''he's a winer!''. I find it funny, considering although I love them all, Wrex, Tali and Garrus, Wrex is the biggest racist in the game nex to the head of Terra firma and TIM. Garrus spends the whole first game moaning about C-SEC, his father and Dr Saleon, and the second about Sidonis. And Tali is willing to commit genocide. But becuase they are alien it dosent mattter, it apparently only applies if you are human, like how people hate Ash for believing in god (even though she dosent say what god) And they dont seem to care that Thane and Samara are even more religious than her. And the Quarian phrase that gets used alot in ME2 ''Keelah'Selai'' Must be religious, judging by how much it get's used and in the context it's used.

I've seen people call Ash boring, yet she is the most developed character in the game (imo) She actually talks to Shepard about real stuff like politics, religon, her and his militarty life and family, and even Shepards actual opinions. And she dosent expect him to fix her problems, she even say :

'' Look at who I am Shepard, do you ever hear me ask for help? It's not that bad things dont happen to me, if you stay with me long enough, maybe I will tell you about some of them them. But I deal with them myself. I dont need a shoulder to cry on, a knight in shining armor to rescue me, or a man to make me happy, this is who i am....i like her *with a smile* and you better like her too''

Being racist doesn't make you racist. Being human makes you racist. Same for boring, whiny, etc.

Yeah I hate Virmire too. I could have done with Virmire type disicions in ME2 though, Virmire has so far been the biggest dicision in the game to me, and well the council choice at the end of ME1, we need more big choices in ME3. I wish we didn't have to choose out of Ash or Kaidan though, they were my Sheps best buds Posted Image

^lol

But damn, two of them got a lot of heat even though they are more and better developed then Wrex, Garrus and Tali( *NOTE* they are still 3 of my favorite charters in both ME's, behind Legion)

Also Bioware didn't even tried to introduce Kaidan and Ashley in comic, unlike Liara.<_<

That didn't help to either character.

finally someone who summed up what I think HA. Thank you very much.

I find it ash and kaiden are the typical scapegoats. Aliens acting racists means they are just being who they are. Humans being racists means they are the devil incarnate. Little extreme but we see in today's society as well :P.

I also agree with Funkcase, it isn't fair. Ashley's stance on aliens isn't nearly as bad as people say it is and other much more popular characters display far worse examples then she does. Same with her love of poetry and a spiritual side, aliens do it then it's fantastical and insteresting, humans do it and suddenly it's considered a negative trait.

Ashley has problems, no point trying to cover that up. But so does everyone else, I see no reason why she deserves so much more unbalanced hate like that. Even TV Tropes acknowledges that she doesn't deserve the degree of hate she gets.
(Google 'Ron the Death Eater' for an explanation, also it is SOOO awesome to have TV Tropes on our side or at least seeing things as they really are, rather than just chiming in and calling Ashley a 'racist' as well.)

But still while I'm here I would recommend we cut down the quote pyramids as they are getting quite huge now, and the thread might start bursting at the seams. Just a thought.

Yeah I've been saying what Funkcase has been for a while now, especially about Kaidan and Garrus. i can't eeven do his romance anymore with femshep because eh's STILL whining in the love scene. Kaidan's "whining" was a story(after which he said he's got his past all squarded away, since he is 32) and Ashley's "Racism" was a general concern.(similar to the russians on an merican ship after the cold war analogy used in this thread). The Alien LI's get favorable treatment because they're Aliens and could probably get away with stuff that would have everyone in an outrage if Ashley, Kaidan, Jacob, Jack, or Miranda tried to do.
