Funkcase, you hit the nail on the head.  It all boils down to them being human, and not alien.  The aliens seem to get a free pass when it comes to beliefs and ideals.
I think you touched on the biggest ones, so I won't repeat it all.

Glad you are an Ash/Kaidan fan.

The reason that aliens get a pass is because it's hard to relate to them, and by extension pass judgement on them. Of all the major character Ash probably the most grounded in reality, by that I mean you probably bump into someone like her down the street. Half squad-mates are alien, and the human squaddies often have back story that you only see in fictions. Only Jacob and Ash are actually relatable in any real sense.

So when someone plays the game, and Garrus does something he/she wouldn't do, one just chalk it up as 'oh, he's alien and we shouldn't apply our moral to him'. But if Ash and Jacob say something about religion or whatever, player can easily apply his/her own moral and judge the character.

This is why I like Ash so much, actually.

Of all the characters, it feels like she and Kaidan are the ones who are easiest to relate to.  They're the ones who I have the greatest sense of "in this together" with.

The YouTubers' problem with Ash is just the fact that they are intimidated by a woman who can beat them up and then recite some poetry. I've got no problem with that personally. I feel so bad for her and Kaidan, they are probrably the most undercredited characters of Mass Effect, due to the fact that in Mass Effect 2 all of the characters had these epic backstories and massive flaws which actually turned them into well modeled characters, but not without overshadowing Ash and Kaidan.

Ofcourse you ain't, many people (like myself) admire a women who's beauty is only matched by how tough she is, the fact Ash likes poetry indicates intelligence, another plus. Making Ash a beautiful, intelligent, tough but sensitive women, thats a perfect women right there to me.

Ash reminds me of the Nerium Oleander, a beautiful plant, but can be deadly.

Why thanks! Posted Image

The plant is even pink, reminiscent of Ashley's armor...Although the girl could do with a new armor in ME3 Posted Image

I think Ash should start out in her trademark Phoenix armor in ME3, and then have Colossus armor as her "loyalty" outfit.

I'd also like a return to squaddies wearing different outfits on the ship as compared to missions. I want Ash in Colossus armor on the ground. On the Normandy, she needs to be in something that's a little easier to take off. Posted Image

That sounds like a pretty good idea.

Yeah, I want Ash in her Alliance military uniform (or anything else thats not armor) on the ship, I think it looks silly when you see squadmates wearing armor on the ship, they look so out of place.

yeah go back to ME1 where they wore non combat cloths. but they would still have characters like garrus in armor. Ash looks sexy in that uniform:wub:

Way to be subtle DWH! That's okay though, the alliance uniform is better.. This is the Ash thread, we were all thinking it anyway...

That photo makes me think of something else I'd like in ME3 - the ability to go dancing with Ash, preferably at the Flux.
