i think it would be great if Ash got a unique power called Obliviate. Which once used causes her to take out flanking enemies in a mass of rapid, highly accurate gun fire. Bam! It would be doubly sweet if when she used it, she pulled out matching assault rifles and proceeded to kick A** using both hands.

I think the matching assault rifles is a bit over the top, and it would need to be something you could use even if you weren't flanked.

That said, a "kick" to her assault rifle that allows her to inflict massive damage - similar to the overkill ability in ME1 - would be a useful unique talent for Ash.

Another one would possibly be "Alliance Blast Grenade" - a grenade fired from a weapon mounted grenade launcher that causes a large explosive blast in the area where it hits.

This plus revenant assault rifle. If there was ever a weapon designed for Ashley Williams that would be it. It even matches her armor.

All the arguements to hate her seem pretty weak to me, I think they need to get to know her better. It seems realistic to me, it's taken hundereds of years since different colour races have met and there are still race issues in real life. You can't expect everyone to be completely trusting and accepting of aliens within 20 years of the First Contact War. And at least she is trying. Her can't tell the aliens and animals apart comment is true I think. Who'd have thought Elcor and Hanar were space faring species before they talked to them?

Though I'm sure all thats been brought up many times before! =P

Anyone who saw elcor wearing clothes and hanar running shops? Or hearing either speak?

I've seen dogs wearing jumpers. It's worringing! Hanar don't look like they run shops, they just float in the middle of rooms. But I'm simply talking about from a distance, without hearing them speak and such. But if you feel the need to be pedantic, go for it.

Or they'd just think that someone put up decorative balloons.

Personally, I don't think Ashley would excuse her statement. I think she'd admit that she'd put her foot in her mouth again.

Also, there's the matter of the Keepers. They look like aliens, but in many ways they're more like animals (or robots). And they're running around all over the place.

I guess it more depends on if it was Ashs first time to the citadel and seeing all the speices for the first time. I don't think it was meant as a vicious, purely something she said as a reaction to seeing it all for the first time.

^^For the folks that are hating on Ash for this reason, I understand it, but I disagree with it.  It's important to take into account how she was raised, and (like you said) despite that, she's still trying.  She's just a little set in her ways is all.  She's not perfect, but I find her imperfections to be quite attractive.  Getting to know her is one thing, but actually trying to figure out why she is the way she is... is another.  I challenge anyone who says they hate Ashley, to attempt this, and in doing so to dare say they hate her again, and if you do...  Unfortunately, that would just make you stubborn and blind.  With that said...

Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it is better to be absolutely ridiculus than absolutely boring. ~

I don't believe that imperfection is beauty. Perfection, logically, wouldn't be boring because boringness is itself imperfection.

Of course, I believe that with perfection, you get Liara, but of course not everyone feels that way.

You're right.  Logically, you wouldn't find boringness in perfection..   however the quote I posted doesn't mention anything about perfection being boring.   It just says imperfection is beauty.  It's funny that you find Liara perfect, and that's one of the things that attracts you to her, and that I find Ashley's imperfection attractive.  Two opposite ends of the poles i guess.

I'm sort of kidding about Liara being perfect. I know she's not, really. She's just the best possible LI for me, and I find her very satisfying.

Good

But please, no poetry while we're in combat. I love Ash, BUT

Maybe the poetry will reach the hearts of the enemy and they will get a new career helping endagered animals!

Fire from the hills pick up speed and lets go.
Fire for real, yeah shoot to kill with no aim.
Head for the hills yes eyes on the camp fire glow.
Creep up there like a white mink hiding in snow.

ROFL! That would be hilarious.

She keeps the sensitive stuff for herself... no yelling poetry on the battlefield is required: Scots already have bagpipes to terrorize the enemy (unless the Citadel conventions banned them)... Posted Image
But I think Ash would know this particular piece, as it echoes much of her personality:

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

Lt-Col. John McRae, Dec 8, 1915

On a side note, regarding poppies: this particular flower was observed to flourish on the battlefields of Europe after WW1, making it the symbol of rememberance it is today. Botanists believe the incredible amount of artillery shelling sustained on the battlefields churned the earth enough to bring mineral rich soil up and mix it with surface soil, thus explaining the massive blooming of poppies immediately following the Great War.

Thus, in time,  the poppy slowly fades away from ancient battlefields (as our remembrances of them).
