@Flamewielder: The only change I would make to your post is that *I* want to be the one who smacks Shep. I miss Ash!

To alleviate my sorrow...Ash hug!

I wish!  My drawing is more along the line of stick figures...but only when I'm really trying.  The artist's page is here.

@ Batlass8

I hear you... but since Garrus is in the game and he knows Ash, I figure he can do it for me... ;D

@Flamewielder: Is it terrible that, despite the awesomeness of the above, my favorite part is that there are two "z"s in Jacob's use of "quiz."  I can just hear him saying it in the same tone of voice he says "priiiiiize."

Uggh... just ran into the slur "Trashley".

Not the first time, but it's been a long while. Now it's come back in full force like a festered, rage-inducing sore in my mind.

Yikes, how crass. Never heard that one myself. What is that even supposed to mean? I've heard "Assley", but...well, if they realy so heavily on lame play-on words, they're not worth dwelling on.

Oh, hey! That's mine! I never brought it up, because...well, compared to the other stuff people find around here, it didn't seem worth noting. But I'm glad you liked it!

I've never heard that one, Kate.   Not sure if I hate it more or less than "Trashley."  I probably hate it the same, actually.

That said, does anyone else find it ironic that the ME1 character with the most literary tendencies has mean nicknames that are (technically, I suppose) puns?  Hooray for wordplay. <_<

Edit: Kate, you drew the Ash hug picture??  <3<3<3

That IS pretty ironic, given Ashley's taste in the written word. The insults are beneath her...if they hate her so much, they could at least give coherent reasons.

I suppose I should be grateful it's not a usual thing, these names...really, these are what you find when you really look for it.

I assume most of you are familiar with DA, for example. You know that "Massive Mass Effect" meme? I used to love looking at them, exploring people's views, but...now I'm afraid to look, because there's one question about Horizon and it's...very negative about 95% of the time. And negative is putting it nicely. Not only that, but...after a while the opinions expressed kind of...meld together. Yes, yes, your Shepard is super unique and knows best, Tali Garrus and Wrex are your BFFs, your Shepard was totally right on Horizon and everyone else is spit, it's all very interesting...

And yes, that one's mine. Mostly I sketch fanart to...get a certain feeling or opinion across. I drew that when I felt Ashley was sorely neglected. It's one of only three Mass Effect scribbles I made...I made another that also included Ashley, but it was more focused on my Shepards. She's only there a little photo; the one in my Shepard's cabin.

But yes, glad you liked it. I has considered putting it on the fanart thread we have, but...I guess I didn't think it worth the effort. After all, she's only visible from behind, not the most exciting thing.

@Kate: Ironically, my favorite part of the picture was reading your explanation/rationale for why you drew it. (Not that I don't love the picture, because I do!) If you haven't posted this in the fanart thread, you totally should. Also (not that I'm demanding at all) you should totally do the Massive Mass Effect Meme, and that way we Ash fans will have: 1) More of your art to look at, and 2) An artist whose reaction to Horizon is thought out and not knee-jerk.

I...have entertained the idea of it, actually. I know what answers I'd have. Still shaky with a tablet, though, would have to draw them all the old fashioned way and fit them in there. I will think about it, though.

And I take no offense. I consider myself more of a writer, actually. I draw more as an excuse to rant. Since I can't assault every jerk who thinks she's just a racist and that Wrex dying is only her fault...I have to do stuff like this. It's a nice stress reliever, really, picking apart flawed logic. Might be a part of why I like her. Love sticking up for the little guy (well, when they're worth the effort...sorry Jacob...maybe grow out the beard-moustache combo, loosen up a bit and we'll talk).

And thanks to you as well, Millia. You're all very sweet. Glad I stopped lurking.

Thank you, I will keep that in mind.

...I don't know if my Shepard clamoring, "I hate to watch you leave, but I love watching you go!" like a horny construction worker--causing Ashley to get all flustered, her dramatic walk-off ruined--is the most inspired idea. But...I still say that's better than the usual "F U Ashleey I is always right lol" kind of ideas. Plus, I like keeping it light...Horizon does deserve some poking fun at, after all.

Voted in that poll by the way. At least Ash won't lose by that wide a margin XD

Yeah, it's like the ultimate insult for a scene meant to be weighted with emotion; to be laughed at. Horizon definitely deserves a little fun-poking for it being such an overall fail.

Indeed. After all, if we can't laugh at all this, I guess we're no fans at all.

Of course, another part of it is making fun of people's...ferocity at the whole scene. I adore both Ashley and Kaiden, seems odd that I can shrug it off where others--people who did not care for either character or overall indifferent--seem infuriated by what transpired on Horizon.

What seems to be a problem, not just for this game (been lurking in the Dragon Age side of this site)...is that people keep a rather simplistic view of things. A character disagrees with your character, your hero, and that makes them wrong. Seems to me that in Bioware games almost all the characters have their own motives, and some players don't seem to understand that. Or maybe they just don't think it relevant.

I'm not trying to justify Horizon completely, of course, but I just got that Ash had her own motives and principles, and she shouldn't be burned at the stake just because they don't perfectly align with Shepard's.

Kind of makes you wonder how well these folks handle their relationships in the real world.

Hopefully they're a little more flexible.
