A Williams support thread has to be better than the best if only to avoid suspicion.

@ Ashlover it does sound like us.
It takes a special kind of big head to setup a support thread in a forum where are LI is black listed. But we did it anyway,...

Lol!

@liam

So true, so true.  And the quote button is angry again.  Sheesh, had no idea the bees nest I was stepping into insinuating Ash had poor marksmanship fundamentals.    Allthough I did like the, "bullets know better than to miss when Ashley Williams fires."

Anyhow, since now I'm curious from the chatter:  how many military brats/spouses/service members are out there?

Hey there, Andaius.

Several people have become somewhat disillusioned with the public forums since the lock so it's been quiet lately.

New topic time. And Chem, if you want wild shenanigans go to the link on the first page for off-topic stuff. A few people who aren't here much go there still.

Where does Ashley rate in combat abilities and strength in the Mass Effect universe? Is she one of the best or is she just an average marine?

In terms of gameplay mechanics - She's nearly impossible to kill, and I kept her on my squad through all missions in ME1 because I found her skills to be complimentary to my class & playstyle. I thought that she used her powers more judiciously and intelligently than other squaddies, especially when I was playing on hardcore and just kept spamming biotics and everyone else I tried to take would get killed.

In terms of story - She can certainly hold her own against the geth and is the only one of her unit to survive Edent Prime. It's said that she has exemplary technical and aptitude scores, and Kaidan, Shepard, and (by extension) Anderson are all impressed with how well she can handle herself. She can definitely hold her own in engagements with Shepard (a special forces marine) and Kaidan (a powerful biotic and decorated soldier in his own right).

I'd certainly think that puts her in the top 5 or 10% - though we also haven't seen anyone else 'normal' in a combat situation save for Jenkins (poor idiot).

I agree.

Some say she's somehow less qualified than other squadmates, I of couse disagree. Neither Garrus or Tali seemed all that experienced when you recruit them.

Gameplay-wise, she's a tank of course.

Story-wise, I think she's inexperienced but skilled when you recruit her. She quickly goes through a trial by fire with Shepard and by the end of the game I think she's just as skilled and experienced as the others, with the obvious exception of Wrex. I would put her in the top 20-10% in ME1 and with the missions she's doubtless gone on since Shepard's death I would put her in the top 5-10% in ME2.

Late coming to the game here, sorry...

I finally was able to
get ME2 and complete my first playthrough. I was really looking forward
to picking up with the ME1 characters that I really liked, such as Ash,
and the whole time I was playing ME2 I kept thinking she would show up
for a bigger role...I was keeping hope alive for the last squad spot to
go to her, right up until Legion showed up. The whole thing was quite a
blow, and it sounds like plenty of other fans were bothered by it as
well.

I've seen some discussion on the future of Ash and the
other ME1 LIs, but much of it seems to be based on rumor and
speculation.

What do people think are the best / most likely
scenarios for Ash at this point? In my ideal world, we will get some DLC
soon that will bring her and the other ME1 LIs back as more than a
cameo. I'm really looking forward to seeing that, and the implications
for storylines involving her based on how Shephard has formed
relationships with the new characters. Something like this would be
great for the DLC that is supposed to bring ME2 and 3. I'd love for us
to get something that drives forward this part of the storyline, since
it was really given short attention in ME2, in my opinion.

I'm
focusing on Ash here of course, but I'm also really hoping for Liara to
get the same treatment, and I don't see how you could deal with Ash
without dealing with Kaidan at the same time.

Thoughts?

Hey Paladin, Ash would appreciate the support.

Yeah i too hold out hope's for dlc to include Ash, but tbh i think it's doubtful. Im hoping she is a squad mate in  ME3 and she need's a much bigger role than she had in ME2. Im glad that from a story perspective though that she atleast is what is driving Shepard to succeed in his mission, and come back alive to her. Only got that feeling from the ME1 LI's and that picture bit at the end was beter than all the ME2 love scenes combined.

We were told by bioware the reason the ME1 LI wasn't a squad mate in ME2 was to save them. ME2 was supposed to be a suicide mission and bioware had big plans for the ME1 LI. What does that mean? I have no idea. Squad mate? Ash being your connection to the alliance who give you missions? No idea. Could mean anything. Will have to wait and see. We can save the ME2 as a suicide mission for another time.

HA you guyz used one of mine huh,yea ash is one of the best in my oppion story wise and gameplay wise she kicks ass,she deserves a better promotion. after ME1 she has more combat experince than any other marine regular soldier in the alliance military (save for shep, and anderson) which is really awsome since she had barley any experince other than traning runs.

I remeber i was doing that misssion were you have too clean out the geth encampments planet by planet and i was playing on insane,i had taken ashley and tali too that Blue moon like planet were the two geth colosauss are.lol tali went down so fast i didnt even bother to use unity and me and ash stood side byside dodgeing there plasma blasts until we took BOTH of them down.....(sigh) good times.

If she´s just another person that gives you missions, I´d be very disappoint...

She is a woman that gets stuff done, just like Shepard. Sending mails and telling Shepard where to go and what to do is not her thing. The only mail she would send is the one which tells Shepard where to pick her up to be honest.

The more I think about her role in ME3 the more pessimistic I become...

Also, I realized what this page was missing:

@Errol Ash pics are always good.

As far as Ash being a mission giver in ME3, I have really no idea. I just used that as one idea. Bioware saying they she has a big role to play. Doesn't really tell us anything. Could be squad mate, could be anything.

in terms of gameplay Ashley is second strong after Wrex..yea..she seems better then Grunt....she and Wrex never had problems in my games...

as in terms of story,lore...well dunno really..she seems like a good soldier....she survived the geth alone and she got experience since Eden Prime..but i still think that Wrex is better(he is a krogan afterall)....and Jacob...Jacob got more experience then Ashley..he saved the Citadel too..he was part of a secret force.....Garrus also seems to upped his skill...and let's not talk about Samara(she is 1000 years old)..but as i said..Ashley is up there with this guys

I dont know about Jacob, he fight's in close quaters, he has no long range weapons. Ash can fight close, middle, and long range. I think Ash is on a par with Garrus.
