Oh and I do love that ME1 trailer with the distress call. First time I saw it, I fired up ME1 on the xbox360, and went on my back porch to smoke, I caught the start of it out of the corner of my eye...had to run in to watch it.

The reason I loved to be with Ashley is because she is willing to stand for something, even if Shepard isn't. She is sensitive, yet fearless and unafraid to die for her team. I tried to sacrifice her on Virmire, but I went back and did it again and brought Ash back home. Her sense of duty and conviction.... I just can't get that out of my mind.niravital wrote...

I've romanced other characters, but Ashley was the only one where it felt like a real, genuine romance between two people. The others felt artificial and just kind of left me cold.
Same here, Jack came off as the best alternative, but even her romance was too rushed and she came off as too co-dependant on Shep.
I don't know, personally I felt the transition in Jack's feelings for Shepard, there are couple of times when it seems to move forward, then in the next conversation she stops herself.
But I agree that Ash is the only one with whom it felt like a relationship between two people.

Ashley in CGI--you don't see it often, so take it where you can get it!

Something much like that better happen in ME3 or, or they'll be getting a phone call from me that will make Tom Cruise's phone call on Tropic Thunder look lake (totally stole that from another forum poster)

Intriguing. What are the issues with Kaidan? Liara? Kelly?I've romanced other characters, but Ashley was the only one where it felt like a real, genuine romance between two people. The others felt artificial and just kind of left me cold.
The non-Kelly ME2 ones I understand, given how rushed they have to be in ME2's format. I include Kelly because I found her relationship to be the most like a regular human relationship; Ashley and Kaidan both struck me as something more like an illicit affair, and Liara's can be somewhat harder to relate to (though I think that it's the overall best).
Edit: the reason I think Liara is the best is because it has extra content. If Arrival involves Ashley, she could become just as objectively good.

Zeuss I love that pic of Ash at the loft door...looks like it's taken from the game and makes it believeable. Did you put that together? Darn I love it.

It is the work of the lovely and talented Chignon.

Kaidan's is good, it felt mature like Ashley's. Liara's went way too fast and I felt the connection was superficial. That's all I'll say on theirs.

Ashley's romance had the most content in ME1, and was also the sweetest. She flirted with you, and you could flirt back and get to know her as a person. You got to learn that she believes in God and poetry (and when somebody talks to you about religion, that seems highly personal IMO).

I can get on board with the Liara romance, but it requires much RPing on my part. Ashley requires none, the romance is a natural fit for me.

Just to be clear, I'm not knocking anyone's opinions over which the prefer. I'm wondering why some find them better.

The conversations about religion and poetry weren't romance, unless Ashley was flirting with my Femshep in a way that she could never reciprocate... I'm not sure if anything you mentioned counts other than the flirtation.

She still flirts with you in those conversations.
Ashley's romance felt the most natural and had the most content. It had a good speed to it. It was the best romance of ME1 (and yes, as a Kaidan fan, it was even better than Kaidan's, if marginally). Liara's felt too unnatural and too fast.

I find Ashley's romance better than the others because it's hard to draw a line and say "Here, this is where the romance starts." I don't look at my Shepard's interactions with her and pick out which are the romance lines and which aren't, because most of it flows together in a very natural, progressing way.Xilizhra wrote...

No one said that was part of the romance. Its just cool how she is the only character that allows you to express your political and religous views. Just another thing that makes her special.Xilizhra wrote...

I agree, but for me the voice chemistry between Meer and Brooks also adds depth to the romance. They just seem to fit.
