As we "speak" I am on my third playthrough of ME2, and am on Horizon. About 30 mins from seeing Ashley. Already saw her on the Horizon pre-mission cutscene which was super sad, she was all good looking and I knew I wouldn't be getting to say what I wanted to. But the really awful part is about 30 mins away. At least I have the dialogue with Yeoman Chambers about missing Ash to look forward to. Man I hate this game. Please don't make it suck for nothing by shorting us on a reunion in ME3, Bioware. Or much like in Team America: World Police, I will be very angry with you and will be forced to write you a letter telling you how angry I am with you.

I hope we have the option to take Ash dancing in ME3, like the good old days in ME1. My drunk Shepard was very lonely dancing alone, all depressed in ME2.

Not an exact quote but something like that. Anyway, that's how my Shepard percieves things, I like to pretend that he's an optimist who borders on denial. Wanting to believe so strongly that he can be reuintied with the woman he loves despite all that's come between them, and that his last action before the suicide mission was to gaze longingly at her photo reflects that.

He's determined and hopeful and while Horizon hurt, he's not about to give up. He cares for her way to much to just forget about her. Hopefully he'll get his wish granted in Mass Effect 3.

I think it went, "Ash is an incredible woman. I didn't like saying goodbye,". Plus, just before that, before Kelly asks if you have feelings for her (for a male), both genders have the option of saying, "I miss her. I wish we could've spent more time together," which I always pick. Interestingly enough, "I miss her" was the bottom option, the..."Paragon" option was just saying it went well. That whole scenario--talks with both Kelly and Joker--showed to me that the "Renegade" options aren't always all that bad. They usually are, but...it depends. Sometimes experimenting with the dialogue wheel gets some interesting results.

And it is rather sad that more emotion and care is expressed about Ashley than towards her, that we have to take small comoforts in little things like that. I suppose, with the...necessary cooperation with Cerberus, there was no opportunity to reconnect with the Virmire Survivor. Hopefully the time will come, despite the situation surelt escalating.
