Just be prepared for the worst from those bioware ****holes.
Now now let's be fair. They do have to balance other fanbases as well and while it is very frustrating that we've been continuously neglected up until now, being bitter won't change that. I myself, am ready for the worst case scenario (which by the way is to either have Shepard devote his life to celibacy or take out all his anger on not getting to see Ash again on everyone he's ever met) but I'm optimistic, we were given a promise by Casey Hudson and Jenovah from the Kaidan thread was told personally that Bioware still have plans for the characters in the third game.
It's not much but it is something and it's the little spark of hope during these otherwise bleak hours and you never know maybe the hope will shine through and a great DLC or expanded role in the third game will come, completely foreshadowing the Dark Times.
True there is a lot to worry about, still my greatest fear above all else is that Ashley will be 'flanderized' and retconned into having the stereotypical 'racist' personality that everyone says she will. But even if they do, I'll just go into denial mode about the whole thing and do my part to ignore it.
And if she's not back at all, then I might just have to pick a 'back up' and in which case that place is reserved for Jack who takes the firm second place after Ashley's proud first. It would hurt but at the same time, regardless of whatever retcon or plot twist or set 'canon' storyline Bioware throw at us, we'll always have Mass Effect 1 and we'll always have the night before Ilos.
No one, not even Bioware, not even EA, can take that away from us.
I know things look harsh and lonely and even a little grim right now for an Ashaholic or Kaidanite out there, but I still maintain that even in our darkest hour, we must be hopeful. Being bitter does nothing but alienate us from the rest of the community and only adds to the frustration caused by this situation in general.
I say, hold onto hope whenever it exists, and then never let it go. Sometimes it can be the smallest thing in the world, but it is always the most important, for without hope... what are we?
Actually, correction:

Without Ash in a tinfoil miniskirt.... what are we?:innocent:

I also don't know if I'd call myself and others like me bitter, I think it has more to do with us somewhat unhappily forcing ourselves to manage our own expectations downward. But your point is still well taken. If they end up stiffing us on repairing and furthering the Shep/Ash relationship, then much like you with Jack, I will go back and romance Miranda with a new character and see where that goes.

Should be up in the next couple of days.
*twitch* - (looks at Ashley withdrawl chart) - yep. that sounds about right.
Rdubs, I go back and forth on whether the night before Ilos is the only time they make love. In my stories it is. They're definitely having a relationship during the time they're on the ship, and for most people there would be regular sexual encounters at this point in the relationship, but I tend to think there was the whole "okay we'll cool it when we're on the ship and working" thing came into play. Not that it was easy.... *eyebrow waggle*

I have to say, much as LotSB made me sad on the one hand because it was a reminder of attention the VS had not gotten, it made me happy to see Bioware really responding to fan requests that a character be given attention...the right kind of attention. Even if we don't get DLC, I think we'll get something. Something good! I live in hope, as the priest said to the princess.

Hey Badpie where did you get your profile picture? That from the game? Don't remember that uniform or her looking at that angle. Great picture though.
It's on the Citadel after one of the meetings with the Council, and Ash is wearing Colossus armor. Colossus heavy, from the looks of it.

Badpie - love your thoughts. Badpie it hurt to read one of your pieces, the one where it takes Ashley a couple chapters to figure out what to do about the relationship after saving the Citadel, because I knew it would end with the starting events of ME2. I did like how you were heading down the path of them having a second intimate encounter but got cut short thanks to a stupid collector ship.
Errol - I understand why Badpie chose to have them tone down the relationship heat, but to your point, if they wanted to there definitely would have been the opportunity. A couple things. First, it's not like as soon as Shepard emerges from the wreckage at the end of ME they kicked his butt straight back on the Normandy, it's clear he and the crew would have taken about a week in port to debrief, do maintenance, and restock supplies. It's customary for crew to be given quarters on land when their ship is in port (I was an officer in the Navy (submarines) for a decade), so it definitely would have been possible for Shep and Ash to get together again. Second, at the beginning of ME2, they mention the Normandy has been hunting Geth for 3 months and everyone assumes they would have been under way that entire time, but "in reality" they would have pulled in at least a couple times for a few days to restock and take care of maintenance items outside of the capability of the crew to handle. Additional opportunity to hit it, if they wanted to. I guess I'm just saying that it's unlikely their only choice was, either do their romps on the Normandy or don't do them at all. But they also would have needed to want to, and it's this point where Badpie excels in pulling us into a world where the two of them are trying to figure themselves out.
CRITICAL - Speaking of Badpie's work, I assume EVERYONE on this forum has read "All Clear"? I dare anyone to try to read Chapter 2 and tell me if that isn't EXACTLY how that conversation would have gone between sisters! At least based on what I've seen based on my wife forcing me to watch chick flicks with her.

Batlass - I agree with you in principle, but am not as confident as you that Bioware will "respond" to us Ash fans. A big part of my RL job is discovering, understanding and then fixing problems in businesses caused by poor execution of an otherwise good idea. So your comment started ringing a bell...my concern is, Bioware being aware of fan requests makes sense in theory, but exactly what it is the mechanism by which they become aware of these fan requests? One way to do it would be to have a couple people on the payroll who read the forums and see what people are chatting about, but that's a huge expense for them compared to them being able to quantify the benefits so I doubt that's the case. They could more easily and economically send out official polls to people who have bought the game, and maybe they already did, but I haven't seen anything from Bioware ask me my opinion on what I'd like to see. There are polls on the social.bioware.com website all the time, but I don't think any of them are official Bioware ones where they'd pay attention to them. I guess what I'm saying is I agree with you completely in hoping Bioware is actively seeking what's called in the Lean/Six Sigma world as "Voice of the Customer" (VOC) but I haven't seen anything yet where anything like that is being implemented by them, and unless it's implemented, it's not happening.
Anyone ever seen anything official from Bioware asking for their input? I did receive a few weeks ago an online survey asking about my purchasing habits re: Bioware DLC, and whenever there was a text box I could fill out I wrote about how much the fan base would like to see an Ashley/VS DLC or more related content which furthers the relationship, but it was done through a survey company (not Bioware) so not sure if those answers will ever make it to them. But they weren't even really asking for ideas on future material, I just gave it to them anyway.
