I find this thread to be rather disturbing and freaky (not the good kind either).

It makes me glad that Ash will die in ME3.

Because I'm at work right now and bored........

                                                                                       ***SCENE***

A known troll (Volus Warlord) returns to the bridge from which it came after a day of trolling in the Ashley Wiliams forum. It returns only to find a horrific scene of carnage. There are dead trolls laying everywhere as far as the eye can see. It then promptly places a call to 911.

Volus Warlord (Speaking with complete terror in its voice): H...H..Hello, is...is..this 911?.....I...I....need help....P...P...PLEASE help me!!!

Female Dispatcher: Sir can you tell me what the problem is?

Volus Warlord (Now crying profusely): THEY'RE ALL DEAD!!!.....OH GOD, PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Female Dispatcher: Who's all dead? Sir can you tell me where you are?

Volus Warlord (Still in shear terror): I'm under the......OH GOD.......THEY'RE STILL HERE!!! (Numerous boomsticks can be heard discharging in the background. Music begins to play Dr.Dre & Eminem: Say What You Say or Drowningpool: Let The Bodies Hit The Floor...either would fit the situation).

Female Dispatcher: Unit 54, we have a possible 187 in progress......wait.......you're under a what? Sir are you a troll?

Volus Warlord (Still crying profusely): YES,YES......I ADMIT IT, I'M A TROLL.....I'M SORRY!!........I DIDN'T MEAN TO DO IT!!........I APOLOGIZE!!!..I LOVE ASHLEY!!!..I LOVE ASHLEY!!!.....PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!!!....I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!

Female Dispatcher: Sir, were you trolling in the Ashley Williams Forum?

Volus Warlord: YESSS! I'M SORRYYYY!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!

Female Dispatcher: Sir, why were you trollling in the Ashley Williams Forum?

Volus Warlord: I'M PATHETIC.......I HAVE NO LIFE!!!......I"M SORRYYYY!!!

Unit 54: Dispatch, is there a problem?

Female Dispatcher: No problem at all Unit 54. It was a prank call, some pathetic low-life was trying to draw attention to himself.

Unit 54: Copy that dispatch.

Volus Warlord: NO!!!! NO!!! NO!!! I SAID I WAS SORRY!!!!!

A male voice can be heard among the chaos of boomsticks discharging: Too late Mutha****a, now you're dead.

Volus Warlord (Now screaming to the top of its lungs in terror): ARRGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Numerous boomsticks can be heard discharging at EXACTLY the same time. (Dispatcher ends call).

Female Dispatcher (Thinking to herself): Kemet, Milla, AD,Sarge,Zeuss......way to go guys.Posted Image

Note: It was later revealed that the female dispatcher was none other than........Silver Rose herself.Posted Image

Now, now Kemet. I do think that was a very funny and well written burn but, of course as is often the case with trolls, any response is just giving them what they want.
I know that might come across as a little hypocritical coming from me, given that I am notorious for responding to troll posts with huge walls of text but in this case, doing so would just be giving him what he wants. And frankly anyone as pathetic as that doesn't deserve the time and day or attention span required to actually bother replying to.

Honestly at this stage the Ashley haters barely seem to need to be talked down to or responded to because their stupidly huge degree of irrational hatred, baseless accusations and ridiculous overstatements have now turned around and it just makes them look silly.
They are, in a very real sense, unselfconciously a parody of their own idiotic arguments. Saying stuff so angrily and so ridiculous with such a straight face that to honestly bother being offended by them anymore is like being offended by a smelly insect.

So yeah, great wall of text but don't waste your time with this one. He's not worth it.

Anyway to put it back to the topic of Ash, first this picture that I love:

Posted Image

Because Silver Rose might not have seen it yet and I think she ought to.

And also a new topic for Ash, or rather an old topic I made a while ago that never got many responses:

What aspects of Ashley's personality would you like to see get elaborated on or shown in more detail in any upcoming DLC or just in Mass Effect 3?

I for one, would like to see her sense of humor be brought back into the fray. Quips, wise cracks and sometimes silly remarks. It helped give her a spark of personality that to be honest almost all other love interests in Mass Effect 2 lacked.
Just a sense that, through dialogue alone, the character has a sense of humor is a great way to add an impression of real personality and thus, depth. It's something that I don't want to see pushed to the side.

As a side note one aspect of her personality I'd like to see pushed completely to the side into a lava pit is her distrust of aliens. Now I know that she's not racist, I've defended her position on it numerous times on this forum. I even argue that her distrust makes for better characterization and in turn makes her feel more real with actual flaws.
But unfortunatley, the effect it had on the fanbase is shocking. One minor aspect of her character becomes raised, they overreact and make it the defining trait of her character. Even though she had no problem working with Salarians on Virmire, hoped for improved relations between humans and Quarians, opposed the ideals of Terra Firma, showed genuine sympathy toward Liara after the loss of her mother, maintained that she didn't think humans were superior and could be talked into trusting aliens more in general.... it didn't do a damned thing.
People saw a crazy alien hating supremacist and wouldn't be coerced.

The main reason I worry about Ash's views in Mass Effect 3 coming into scruitiny is because there have been a lot of unpleasant implications that, with the loss of Chris from the writing staff, the new writer appears to not be following from the original works of the old writer and instead seems to be drawing inspirations from the.... creatures that scream and yell and whine that Ashley is racist. To me, that's just terrible.

It's bad enough that people overreacted to a relatively minor aspect of her character in Mass Effect 1, if she got turned into a blatant hateful stereotype as a result of it in the third game, that would just be tragic. Hence, even though I acknowledge that she never was racist in Mass Effect 1 and that she shouldn't have anything to prove to anyone, I'd still rather see her in Mass Effect 3 skipping merrily holding hands with a Krogan and a Hanar then I would see her wearing a Klan hood.
That'd make the haters shut up wouldn't it? And it's favorable to my other solution for making haters shut up (it involves application of the Ebola Virus).

I know that the rants of the idiots of the internet shouldn't bother me and as I said above, they don't. I just really couldn't handle it if those same idiots were the direct cause for ruining one of my favorite characters in modern day gaming.

.... Sorry, went on a bit of a tangent there. So anyway, new suggested topic is about aspects of Ashley's personality you'd like to see elaborated on in the third game or DLC.

Ashley's opinion on aliens seems like something that could be brought to some sort of conclusion in the third game. I think it would be a good way potentially to bring some sort of climax to her story, because it always struck me as something that was ongoing with her. I'd be nice to see her finally let go of that mistrust in the end. I know you can sort of do that in Mass Effect one, but still. And if Shepard can rally the entire rest of the species in the galaxy to save Earth, then that's probably one of the best ways possible to show that sometimes you can bet on allies staying allies in the end, and that sometimes the people or aliens or whoever will stay to help their dogs or... something. :P Of course the reverse could also be true, given than you can roleplay a Shepard with more antipathy towards the council races than her.

I personally would like to see Ash with her family. Her sisters in particular sound quite interesting. However, if bioscare doesn't go that route, they can at least show a cutscene of her reading poetry at her father's grave...that would be a touching moment indeed. With regards to the recent troll, I see where you're coming from but, we have to let those bastards know that if you stick your head in Sobek's mouth........expect it to be bitten the F**K  off!

A couple things here.
On more Ash content, I vote for more content with Ash's sisters. Badpie has authored a couple pieces which have wonderful interaction between the sisters and it is not only adoreable, but adds to character development. You know the sisters would be ALL up in Ash's business related to Shep, and although the Bioware writers aren't as good as Badpie they could still try to mimic her approach where the sisters help Ash sort through her feelings or give her advice. Not that Ash should need any help sorting out that she wants to be with Shep but I'm sure there's something there that the sisters could chime in on.

Second matter: what, there is a new writer?? Red alert. My experience in business has been that whenever somebody comes in to fill a role where the predecessor has been highly successful, the new guy rarely just tries to keep doing the same things because then you look like an also-ran. Instead the new guy will often try to outshine the old guy by doing something dramatic or completely different just to differentiate himself. Unfortunately many times this attempt wrecks what has previously been built. Let's just hope the new guy sees his best way to greatness is delivering what the fans are hoping for in a major way instead of doing something the fans would hate just to try and create controversy, under the mistaken notion that controversy equals fame.

First of, nice pic! I like the intimacy and quietness going on there.

Second, I agree with you about seeing Ash's humor sence.
Ash has a strong character and strong principles and opinions. I'd like to see her express and defend them throughout the game, even if it means being loud. I'd also like to see her sence of proving herself that is going all the way until the braking and making point. That would be awesome development of her character to see.

I also would like to see something with Ashley's sisters.  I think if it's done right it could really add to the depth of her, already family oriented personality.  More amazing Ash lines would make me really happy, whether they be humorous or clever or both...  I think she has the best diologue in the game period and would love to have more long conversations with her about life, family, the Military anything really.   I have to tell you all a story...

So, my Grandfather who lives in Long Island, about 2 blocks from the ocean, called me about a week ago asking if i'd like to come for a visit during Spring break.  Here's my response..

"Sure!  Nothin like a nice relaxing stroll on the beach.  Blastin bad guys with ma boomstick." lol Posted Image

He was just like "What?"  ha!  Anyway i thought that was funny and wanted to share it with you all.

This actually raises a good question.  Have any of you used an Ash line in real life?  What were the circumstances?  Or is it just me... Posted Image

Somehow, I can always imagine Ash being a little bit like Tallahassee from zombieland...
Jacob: (Ash is about to test a weapon) "Dont' forget to turn the safety off!"
Ashley: (Turns around) Jacob, a little F.Y.I., I have beat whole-sale a** for a lot less than that."
(Sets weapon down)
Ashley: "You get um, forty five percent power." (nails Jacob)

Hey, you're not the only one.... I used one the other day actually.... :wizard:

Me and some friends were watching a tv show called "Nikita" and one of them commented on how she was a hardass and I said, "That your professional opinion??" ... and didn't realize what I had said for a minute and then busted out laughing... they all looked at me like I was a weirdo. lmao!

Nowhere near as epic as yours though. B)

*snipping here and there*

you know, i think the real problem with ash's distrust of aliens was that it was completely undermined by the fact that the 4 aliens you joined with: tali, wrex, garrus, and liara - are really among the best and most noble people in the galaxy. garrus says he's not a typical turian, liara is not an average asari. wrex is a future leader among krogan and tali is princess, essentially. if you'd picked up a sidonis or the like, who betrayed you along the way, her warning would have been spot on. instead, your main traitor for me1 was udina, who's human. i always found her warning to be totally justified and wise, but then, i don't immediately geek over new aliens. like ash, i think it's wise to be guarded. so i think if some aliens turned out to be totally untrustworthy (hey, like the council - oh, wait), it would help her cause a lot.

mostly, i love ash for being so unabashedly a military girl. i hope that is one thing about her that never changes.

I only got it if you send kaidan with the salarians and bring her along to set the bomb. it's one of her random "click on her" comments that she'll on the maze of platforms & beach before you reach the base.

Oddly, none of that precludes her from being speciesist. We (the more reasonable ones, at any rate) don't think that she's militant, or even hateful, but she is speciesist, just like you're probably and I'm definitely mildly racist in some way. She's just not a terribly elegant speaker a lot of the time, as she admits herself.

What you have to keep in mind, in Ash's case, too, is that prior to ME1 she likely hadn't even seen many aliens, let alone worked with them. Her attitude is probably about on par with most of humanity, to be honest.

Also, though it's been said, I think her attitude about not wanting aliens poking around in critical areas on an advanced military warshap is not only justifiable, but in the right. I think my "canon," mostly Paragon Shepard is in the wrong, there. I suspect the only reason he gets away with it is because he's a Spectre. Were it not for that, the Alliance military and political leadership would be justified in blowing a gasket if they found out that unvetted foreign nationials were being given full access to a state of the art warship.

So true.  Ash might not be scientific like Liara, but she is the most street smart character in ME1, being the only one who is suspiscious of people she doesn't know, espescially if they have personal goals and quests that are not in the mission parameters.  Characters like Ash are revered in crime dramas and noir films for their sense of humor and unique motivations, but I can't see why she isn't well recieved by so many people here.

What you have to keep in mind, in Ash's case, too, is that prior to ME1 she likely hadn't even seen many aliens, let alone worked with them. Her attitude is probably about on par with most of humanity, to be honest.

I doubt it is. Shepard and Kaidan are exceptional.

The Alliance would blow a gasket about a lot of things. But the mission goes beyond Alliance concerns.

Erm... no. I'd say Wrex is quite a bit more street smart than Ashley is, having centuries more experience, and Garrus' time as a C-SEC officer give him a noted experience advantage. And Ashley is far from the only person to show suspicion towards the suspicious.
