I know it's probably been discussed before, but Ash being a poetry girl, I'm also convinced that she'd be a Rudyard Kipling fan. She's the consummate jarhead/Marine, and Kipling has always been the choice poet for many warriors.

Hmmmmm...
That's one I never though of, thanks for the input, James!

I thought someone in this thread might like those. Thanks for the feedback, Telemachus. ;)

It would be great fun if we saw more of Ashley (or Kaidan/Wrex as far as I'm concerned) in the upcoming DLC, but I'm afraid I see little chance for that. I haven't investigated the depths of it, but the very name, "Arrival", suggest best someone or something new and important to arrive. Or the ME2 squad to arrive to some very important place or event. Considering the small role Ashley (/Kaidan/Wrex) played in ME2, probably based on her (them) being killable in ME1, I don't think Bioware planned for a sudden change of that as a preparation for ME3 (which I assume the DLC to be). Best bet is that she (they) will figure in some minor way or other in ME3. I think we can hope for that, at least. Now, since virtually all members of the ME2 squad are also killable, I wonder about their fate in ME3. Minor roles - all of them??

Domar - I believe Arrival alludes to the arrival of the Reapers at Earth. If you saw the only ME3 trailer currently released it shows them at Earth. I'd bet money ME3 starts with the reapers already at earth and your mission is to get rid of all of them (and part of the later plot will be to kick them off earth).

I believe Ash will play more than a cameo role in ME3 and will actually be a selectable squad member. From reading many, many pages of this forum (and the prior) I came across one post which said that - but did it in such a way that my gut told me it came from someone with insider knowledge. It was very subtle but was written in a way I've seen many with insider knowledge give people clues. Not a Bioware employee mind you, but Bioware employees have friends to who like the game.
But despite how much I trust my gut I'm still preparing myself for no Ash in Arrival or ME3 just so I have upside if she shows. If they let her be a squad member, they'd BETTER let the romance plot continue! Can you imagine how terrible it would be if we could have Ash in the squad but have her be "just friends"? Aaaaaaagh!!!!

Sorry - meant to say Arrival could more simply be the arrival of the reapers into "known space", not earth specifically. In that case I think the chances of Ash being in it would go up, as one could easily see an Arrival plot where Shepard gets called in to fight off the reapers' advance scouting party and it just so happens Ash is on the planet they arrive at.

90% sold on the idea that Ash will be in DLC. How much, I have no idea. The latest screenshot shows Shep with Dr. Kenson. Yeah my opinion, but to me, that's all that matters. :)
Survivor, Alliance, Cerberus, Kenson, Batarians, Mercs and the Leviathan of Dis.

There is no way that all of a sudden Ash will appear in ME3 as "just a friend" of Shepard if she was his LI before. Even in ME2 the performance, even if short, was different whether you romanced Ashley/Kaiden or Liara (or neither), It shouldn't be different in ME3. Plus, we know for a fact that cheating on your ME1 LI with a ME2 character will have affect in ME3, so this means ME1 romance will translate to ME3. I believe that there will be a big scene with your LI (whether it's from ME1, 2 or 3) before the final mission of ME3.

As ME3 is the end of Shepard's saga, there should be a closure with whoever you chose as your LI, given the big weight of romance in these games. That's why I can't see where the talks about VS being killed in a DLC or in ME3 come from.

As for the "Ash in the next DLC", I will post my opinion later...

I, as I've said many times, do not believe she will be in it at all. =/

As Domar said all of the ME2 squadmate can die so that means no matter how popular they can't play that big of a role in ME3. So which makes me think that the ME1 squadmates will play larger roles but who knows. I just hope Bioware had a plan for this all along because having every character able to die throws a whole bunch of loops in ME3.

See, I feel the opposite... if they can't be bothered to include the newer ME2 squad, it seems to me that they wouldn't want to be bothered with the ME1 crew either and just give a bunch of new squadmates,  making it easier for themselves and making easier access for the newbs.... who frankly, imo, should gtfo and play the trilogy as it was meant to be played.... starting with the first game. Bioware should be about making ME3 and unforgettable experience for it's fans that have been around since ME1 and even ME2, to a lesser extent. I just don't see it happening that way, b/c I mean, they are a business and want to make money.... not to mention, EA owns them. =/

That is what my realist side is saying but my optimistic side is still hoping for some Ash.

I'm personally pessimistic about Ash being in DLC or ME2. If she is, I fear she'll have a less than substantial role. I don't think Bioware is that committed to her character (or Kaidan's), and I think especially since the person who wrote her has left the company, they'll want to focus on other characters.

The ME2 crew MIGHT be screwed because any of them can be dead. However, I suspect that Miranda might be on the squad again regardless of what happens to the rest. It's awfully hard to kill her her during the suicide run, and I think Bioware views having a character played by Yvonne Strahovski as a real plus.

@Rdubs - you may be right in believing some Bioware employees give tips to friends about upcoming game content (at the risk of losing their jobs, however, because there's must be a company policy against that) and that Ashley (etc) might be a squadmate again (I mean, how much more promotional value for a sequel can you create?), but it still strikes me as rather difficult to make something sensible out of the many different possible squad combinations that arise from virtually all being killable yet perhaps only one actually having been killed in a given player's career from ME1 to ME2. Come to think of it, there's only one team mate guaranteed to live in ME3: the one between Ashley and Kaidan who survived Virmire. This one may have a crucial role there. All the rest, less chances for that.

As for the "Arrival" alluding to the arrival of the Reapers to the Earth or the Galaxy somewhere, good thinking. The very knowledge of them to arrive soon to the galaxy could warrant naming a DLC about it. This scenario does sound rather probable. The fourth pic from the DLC shows some sort of countdown, doesn't it? That might be the ETA for the Reapers, which will occur in ME3. Maybe that imprisoned woman in the first pic from the DLC has something to do with the coming of the Reapers, sensing their awakening or something.

@niravital - I agree, if former LI's are around in ME3, chances are that one can pursue this LI further then. Like you said, since this element of LI's is a rather large part of this game, some big finale in that area is to be expected.

@Reed - glad to hear the response to those pics; makes it worth the trouble. :)
Yes, I have more, often several from different angles of the same situation, and there are more in the production line. I'll be very busy this weekend, so I won't have time to do much then, and I gotta hit the sac in my corner of the world now, but I can at least post one more before I do. I've already shown this particular shot in the Manshep thread, however. Maybe you missed it. Enjoy!

that's it, honey, hit that son-of-a-b****!

Nice pics!

I wuz thinkin' (feel free to read no further).  I'm not a huge game player.  But when I do take the time out to purchase a game, I want it to be something that will pull me into it.  I'm a Sci-Fi fan so last year I came across Mass Effect 2 while looking for something relaxing to kill time with.  (Don't worry, Ash content coming).  Loved the game.  Just had to get Mass Effect 1 to make the exprerience complete (and be able to import).  Loved it as well.

I've imported saves with Ash as LI, Liara as LI, and with no LI into ME2 (I prefer to play a manshep).  In ME2 I have saves where I'm faithful to Ash or Liara.  I've got saves where I entered ME2 with no LI and stayed that way, or romanced Miranda, Jack, or Tali.

Out of all of those LI characters, Ash strikes me as the deepest character.  I know folks find differing reasons to like one character over another, but for some reason Ash stands out to me.  She is um..well..a well designed character (attractive as far as video characters go), voice actor has a dynamite voice, and nothing to me is overdone like Miranda with the emphasized rear ballest tank and her buyoncy ballooned chest.  I also tend not to care for chicks with shaved heads and more ink than my bic ballpoint pen (no offense).  Tali could be a grasshopper for all I know. (And Captain Kirk got mixed up with a bad green chick once so I'm a little skiddish of blue chicks as well.) Posted Image

Ash still stands out to me as the most interesting of all those possible female LI's.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm no fanboy with a fetish.  I just think she is the best written female NPC and/or LI of the game.  Does she have some short-comings?  Maybe.  But everyone has them.  What helps us to overcome them in real life is having someone who can look beyond them and see the real us in spite of them.  So I hope Ash gets a better go at it in ME3 and hopefully the new DLC.

Ok...I think too much.  It's a short-coming. Posted Image
