I see her as a dog person and allergic to cats.
And if Ash and Miranda had some sort of b*tch fight Shepard would just walk out of the room and let them yell. No way he's getting in the middle of that. (Also there would never be a fight over Shepard. Both ladies are too classy for that).

The only problem I had with the article is it says that some characters have cameo appearences (Ashley in ME2) some you can talk to (a la Wrex) some are only squad members for one mission (a la Liara in LOTSB) and some are permenant squad members. My worry is that Ash won't be a squad member the entire game, or even be in the game the entire time because she has a higher possiblity of dying than all the other characters (though slightly less than Kaiden I'm assuming because a lot of teenage boys would rather keep around a chick than Kaiden). The writer remarks at the end of that segment that "You can safetly assume that you'll see all of the major characers return in some capacity" as if that is good enough but quite frankly it isn't. GI has a habit of downplaying flaws in there previews(In the Halo Reach reveal they made it sound like there would be 4 times the AI on screen in the campaign than in previous iterations though that was not nearly the case) .
I just hope Bioware makes all possible LI permenant squad members so no one's feelings are hurt and that they make all the other popular characters important NPC's or permenant squaddies. Characters that weren't so popular (Zaeed, Grunt and the like) could be temporary or have a cameo role. So, that's my two cents, sorry for making it a wall of text. Though people seem to be more intelligent here (enough to read long posts) compared to the Bungie forums where anything this long gets a TL;DR.

Speaking of Ash and Miranda. I was thnking, what if in ME3, there was another Virmire scenario where Shepard had to choose between saving two squadmates; say Miranda or Ash? Probably won't happen. But could be interesting considering those two.
If a situation like Virmire showed up in ME3, I think it would probably be Garrus or Tali. Because Bioware subsist of the tears of fanboy/girls.

True. I can imagine it:
Shepard: One of you needs to stay behind. Garrus, you do it.
Garrus (Doing calibrations): Huh? Yeah, Shepard, I like that dress too
Tali: Garrus, the commander just said...
Garrus: I know, I like Expel 10 too
Shepard: Garrus, are you listening?
Garrus: *Nodding head* Uh-huh, that's nice.
*Shepard and Tali leave*

I doubt it, since they are already killable in ME2. Canon survivours, perhaps? Maybe the VS and SB. Or even more plausible, the Reapers attack and you can choose to back up Earth or save the Citadel.
Considering all that has happened, this time I would focus my attention on Earth if it came to that.

Tears are delicious apparently. I'm hoping this won't be the case. I'm more concerned with a "save the person you love or save a thousand innocent lives" scenario. Might as well just rip my heart out now if that exists.

Oh yes:

*ahem*
There could well be a Virmire type situation that happens in Mass Effect 3, Possibly even greater examples of that like having to choose between entire planets for which you can save and which you have to lose. If they put squadmates into that equation, I'm down with that.
Although Ash better not be among the people at risk if that were the case, Shepard came very close to losing her twice now. I don't think he could handle a third time.
Also if I had to pick from the people in the Mass Effect 2 squad for ones Ashley would hang out with my guess would be Jack, Thane, Kasumi, Zaeed, Grunt and Mordin. I'll explain my reasoning a little later, my lunch is in danger of getting cold.

ASH WINS!!!

Out of all the hypotheticals I've read right now...
save ashley or save 1000 people= ash wins every time.
But
Earth or Ashley is the hardest decision I think I would ever make. If it would be possible I'd sacrifice myself for both but if I had to choose it would take me a while.
Although choosing who you save seems very pressure intensive....save Tali or Samara, Jack or Miranda, Wrex/Grunt or Mordin , jacob or Garrus .....would put lots of pressure on the player to make the right decision.

Also do we know that we even survive the game by the end let alone any squadmates? I think the article mentioned that there is free play after main quest but what if you only live if you have a certain set of choices? It could *SPOILER though honestly if you haven't played this game yet you probably won't* end like Halo Reach where no one lives. You can probably tell I'm a huge Halo fan too.

Considering that it is the end of the series. Shepard might have to choose between multiple squadmates!!

Ash wins in any either or squadmate scenario....even over ... Garrus.
As for the being thankful.... um, NO. I will be thankful if Ash is a fulltime squadmate throughout the game... anything short of that... and just... ugh. She was kept out of ME2 so she wouldn't "die" ... so I expect her to have a huge role... otherwise the whole horizon thing was pointless.

If I had my way, the only people allowed on the ship full stop, would be Shepard and Ashley. Maybe Miranda as well. If Ashley's open to threesomes.
