Well I found the source...not sure I am allowed to post the link to the guys site.  Anyway if you look at the top right of most scans you see "KB Gaming media scans"...just search that with Mass Effect and it should be the first link.
Anyway he has done other magazines that are legit (The PC Gamer one is one I can confirm) and so one could assume this one is too.
How well it was written though...that's another story.  Part of me thinks they made up things so that they could get attention to their magazine which honestly I never heard of (Only ever heard of the official Playstation 3 Magazine)

The whole VS as Spectres thing I am neutral on.  On the one hand I can see that they could be the logical choice for humanity but on the other hand how capable are these two to become Spectres? and aren't there other N7 candidates out there?

What I'm saying is I don't really mind them being Specters unless Bioware can give a good explanation as to how they got there (maybe they were targetted as possible SPECTRE candidates during Shepards death period and didn't tell him/her during Horizon?)

I think when Ash describes the Council races, she is actually describing herself perfectly. After giving her Bear vs Dog analogy she says "It's not racism. Not really. Members of their species will always be more important to them than humans are." That is the view she takes.

I often wish people used terms the same way that I use them within sociology (and to be even more accurate, the ways in which the specific sociological theories I adhere to use the terms). It would be significantly easier to discuss the racial issues presented in the Mass Effect universe if people weren't always bickering about word conotations.

Setting the impossible wish aside, I like xeno-skeptical.

Calling Ashley a Xenophobe is illogical, because by definition a phobia implies that Ashley's views are irrational fears. Ashley feels that the other races may not always be allies. Quite frankly there's nothing irrational about that. The one word that I feel best describes Ash's views are that of a Nationalist. She pretty much clearly states that Humanity should be ready to stand on their own just in case other species are no longer allies. The big problem I'm notcing is a lot of people are stuck on the race thing when really, it's more like comparing different nations. It's not racist to feel that the United States or Great Britain or France should not have to rely on aid from nations.

Just my 2 cents.

That is common sense but noooooooo if you say that to aliens then your considered "Immoral."

Yeah if a human shows allegiance more to a human controlled colony then say an asari homeworld thats usually the norm is it not?

Trying to give people real world scenarios is also an easy thing to make them figure out ash isnt a xenophobe but most of these type of arguments really try not to pay attention when you destroy their argument.

IF aliens pop up tomorrow I doubt everyone will be all "Well I trust them enough and if you dont your a xenophobe."

We have to realize that certain characters are going to be bashed no matter what they do. Jacob, Ashley or Kaiden could single-handedly ****-slap a reaper and they still would get little or no recognition. HATERS GONNA HATE no matter what.

If Ashley were Krogan or Quarian, it doesn't bother nobody obsviouly. Aliens have the right to hate a species ( Wrex, Grunt, Tali, many Turians ), but a human has no right simply to express his distrust, a distrust fully justified.

Anyway, humans are all racists !
