I have a very bad feeling this new james sanders guy is the same james ashley said she liked in an e-mail she sent to her sister the shadowbroker intercepted as quoted below, if so then I hope we have the option to straight shoot him in the face when he looks at her the wrong way. your thoughts?

"James left today. He's been reassigned to one of the new Rapid Response Bases out in theKepler Verge. Lucky bastard. It's like the ancient west out there — pirates and slavers coming out of the Terminus Systems all the time. He gets to play the cavalry, riding out in frigates any time someone's house gets burned down.

I made some speech about how he was a valuable asset to the squad and he better make us look good out there, blah blah. I suck at speeches. I was cribbing from something I read back in history class. I don't think anyone noticed.

I'm going to miss him. Don't tell anyone.

So you think James is cute, eh? Yeah, well, when you said I should "go for him" — not gonna happen, kiddo. See, we have rules about "fraternization". You don't do The Deed with your fellow troops, especially if they're under you in rank. There's all sorts of problems that can happen when two people in the same unit get together.

Let's say your unit is in a tight spot. Some bug-eyed aliens are going to overrun the galaxy. They eat babies, smell bad, and don't have elbows. Nasty. You're told to guard the rear. To let everyone else escape, someone is ordered "hold this spot until we're gone." Someone has to be left behind. You think it's going to be someone you're sleeping with?

I've served with these guys for eight months now. Yeah, some of them make me feel tingly (and yeah, James was kinda scruffy-cute). I hope I never have to decide who lives and who dies. But if I have to, my decision can't be muddled up by magic-sparkly-hearts-and-stars feelings.

Anyways, I'm gonna knock off here. I've got dog watch in a few hours. Want to get a shower and a meal before then. Talk to you tomorrow.

- Ash "

I don't think it's the same James at all. Mass Effect 1 had two deceased "Jacobs" in it, but neither was Jacob, or was even related to Jacob.

And in any case, the "James" referred to in Ashley's email is secretly a BioWare technical designer, who transferred to the Austin studio the day the piece was written. (via Mass Effect Wiki)

Oh, don't worry about that. E-mail James was just a nod to one of the designers transferring out. Besides, this James Sanders is going to be a squadmate! A major plot point, what are the odds that they retconned it like they did with General Williams.... Oh :o!

How come a lot of the people who move on from Ash went on with Miranda? I see no correlation of personalities between them. Is it because of a need for an LI? Why not Tali or Jack?

In the looks department Ash & Miranda are more similar than Tali or Jack, both women are smart, family is important to them, driven to succeed (Ash-Alliance / Miranda-Cerebus), competitive, struggling in the shadow of someone else (Ash-her grandfather / Miranda-her father), headstrong, aggressive in the *ahem*, to name a few.

Well, personally, I plyed ME2 first and fell for Miranda (got me addicted to Chuck as well) I fell for Ashley when my friend let me borrow his ME1 disc so naturally I move from Ashley to Miri because they are my two favorite ladies in ME (besides femshep of course) They're the female lead type which I happen to be a sucker for.Posted ImagePosted Image

I agree. Although I wasn't too big on the MaleShep's ME2 romances, Miranda is my favorite of the bunch. So I will have a Shep/Miri import stored for my second playthrough, because Ash comes first.

That said, Samara was really the lady I wanted to romance in ME2.

Well in one of my play throughs I went from Ash to Miranda mostly cause both where humans though my main stayed true to Ash and frankly I've never romanced Jack on any of my games. I personally could never see myself dating someone as messed up mentally as Jack is. I also did romance Tali on one my Shepards who had been with Ash, but it wasn't cause I felt the need to have an active LI but because I like Tali and wanted to romance her.

Thane and Garrus are the most obvious Spectre candidates from amongst the squad. (Well, if Thane wasn't dying.) The ability to do the right thing, on your own, but the ruthlessness to do whatever it takes is what makes a Spectre.

Samara is far too rulebound, much as I love her. Miranda was super-loyal to Cerberus for way too long. Jacob, oddly, would have been a good candidate if he hadn't gone rogue and over to Cerberus.

Are.. are  you sure you are on the right thread? Anyways, Thane is an assassin, SpecTRes aren't just killers, they need to have other skill sets too. Garrus' combat abilities are also exceptional, and yet again he has no diplomacy skills and is brash and hot-headed. Even Saren started out as an impressive Turian, he pretty much progressively lost his sanity. Jacob... I honestly have no idea.

A lot of people only look at their combat capabilities but don't look at their character. As for the VS... maybe ME1 Alenko, but probably not ME1 Ash. As for ME3 VS, depends how much they've grown.

Also: Anyone have a pic of Ash facing the camera? I need reference. Thanks in advance!

With another character with the camera panned down a few inches. My bitter, cynical opinion though. No need to spread it around.

All of these pics have been blatantly stolen.

And it's pretty easy for Shepard to cheat/move on/whatever you want to call it.
If he thinks her behavior on Horizon is unforgivable, he moves on.
If he thinks there's still a chance for them, he at least keeps his pants on until he sees her again and they finally have a chance to talk cool, calm and collected about the things that happened.

Ok, I was watching the Casey Hudson interview on GI and a thought occurred to me: How about an Ashley "Fathead"? I would buy one. I think Bioware should consider it.

After seeing the GI picture of Ashley/Miranda 2.0, Tali hit on me in a weak phase. I nearly failed Ashley, when Tali started her "How could I possibly be interested in you?" speech on my last playthrough, that I want to use as my ME3 import. I really like Tali but then I thought about Ash and the wrath of her boomstick and stayed strong.

I flogged myself to repent for this weakness.

I guess since we're on this discussion, of the ME2 squad, only Mordin, Miranda, and Jacob seem like good fits. All three have experience with covert operations and not bringing attentions to themselves.

If Ash and Kaidan really are Spectres, I expect a explanation will be given. I mean, they've been running undercover missions for Anderson for the past 2 years, so it's not like they lack any experience.

It's not the look itself. It's more the "fear" that this is her infight look. It doesn't fit my impression of Ashley, who always favoured bulky armors and big guns. If she walks around on the Normandy like that, I'm totally fine with it. But infight? We already have Miranda in her catsuit for that

Yeah I know what you mean. I also hope she will have some armor in combat.

Me too.  I guess I am too much of a Nice Guy or Knight in Shining Armor.  I really felt bad for Samara.  I wanted to comfort her and make her understand that she didn't have to be invincible every second of her life.
