It amazes me the Ashley hate out there. It's not like there is a "Why I think people hate Tali" thread or a "Why I think people hate Garrus" thread. Bottom line is: the haters will continue to hate no matter what arguments we put up. So let em!   Their hate will not stop me from loving my favorite character in Mass Effect. I went to the "Supporting Ashley for ME3!" thread and read what you guys wrote on the "Why do you like Ashley? question. And I have to say I was quite impressed, and agree with everything posted. Hold the Line! Ash is worth it!!!

Edit for top of page Ash.

I might even say it as a sarcastic, if not entirely accurate, remark to illustrate how unfamiliar the place is.  JMO.

It's not. I thought so too yesterday, even altered her inflections in my memory to convince myself. But after restarting my Fem!Shep, it sounds more like she blurts it out in awe.

On another note, my Shep won't be taking her back in ME3. He didn't move on, the Reaper invasion just comes first on his list of priorities. Not to mention the heavy risk of dying, not gonna put her through that again. (Yes, role-playing here.) Thoughts?

That sounds reasonable, especially since those were Liara's reasons for not wanting to renew her romance with Shep.

Totally understand the conflict. I hadn't really thought of my Ash Shep in that way, that struggle is applied to my Liara Shep. She took the Shep's death hard and since she lives 1000+ years ... well my Shep may leave her in ME3.

As far as my Ash Shep, that may be hard if she walks in the room with her hair down and a smile on her face. Poor Shep has had to go without those lips for a whole "guddam" (as Zaeed would say) game! Ok, he saw her on Horizon but he refuses to accept that encounter - just focusing on the e-mail.

Speaking of e-mail ... why not a vid-mail? She could send her sister a vid-mail, but all you get is an e-mail? If she is on the Normandy with you as a squadmate, do you think your Shep will be able to keep it "professional"? My Ash Shep is an absolute sucker when it comes to her, that is the reason that he didn't come off well on Horizon. He kept looking at her lips and it turned his brains into mush. The idiot!

Nothing to do with the current discussion, but i think it's pretty sad that they changed her appearance. They've totally mirandanized her. Not only that, but her hair is longer, and now brown. Her eyebrows are much lighter than the first two games too. It's like looking at a different person. I can understand changing the hair from a bun, but why change the colors and density of the eyebrows? Well there's my rant.

They've always got time to change it. 7 to 8 months, to be exact.

I don't mind the new look; she could have changed her hair color after all. Women do that sometimes.

Her features haven't changed, just her hair ... As a woman, when I feel good about myself it shows in my appearance. So when I see the more "softer" version of Ash it tells me that she has become more confident in herself.

Or maybe when she saw Miranda with my Shepard on Horizon, she thought, "Hell no ****. Next time Skipper sees me he won't remember his own name." Women in real life change their looks all the time so I am not surprised that Ash would change her hair and/or color. Some women don't even know what their real hair color is.

Maybe thats in your playthrough lol..Lawson doesnt even see the light of day on Horizon Usually, my away team for that one is usually Garrus and Zheed.  Yeah so unless she is jealous of a former turian crew member and a aging bad ass merc commando and scruffy looking turncoat man she tought she loved..yeah see how the logic can be torpedoed in a RPG lol

That is why I said "Or maybe when she saw Miranda with my Shepard on Horizon" ... I never presume on your Shepard.

Has anyone noticed the similarities between Nihlus and Ash? They were both pure soldiers (as far as we know about Nihlus) and both were blacklisted from their respective militaries. Nihlus built a camaraderie with Saren and Ash with Shepard. Both mentors were SpecTRes, and Nihlus was asked to join only a year after meeting Saren.

Yep, each moment I think about it the more likely it seems that Ash is now a SpecTRe.

To the previous posts: Mordin is my constant on Horizon, the other squaddie is usually Kasumi or Grunt.

Since Liara lives for 1000+ years wouldnt she outlive him anyways?  I never thought about that.....if Liara and Shep stay togethor she has to watch him grow old and die.....I would hate that.

Also a vidmail would have been awesome, would have been a much better way to show that Ashley still cares for Shep but has split feelings about the whole thing.

Agree though my shep goes all mooshy when hes around ash but felt like crap that she didnt want anything to do with him on Horizon even though the last time he saw her he was trying to save her and having Garrus try to rationalize the whole thing didnt make it anymore better. <_<

Would be nice if she said something about Horizon or the email though.

That is why my Shep struggles with Liara ... Is it really fair to her to stay with her. It's a win for Shepard, 90+ and Liara would still look like Liara but Shep might be in a walker. Oh, well.

As for Ash & Horizon ... My Shep was stupid ... stupid ... and stupid. Instead of blaming Bioware, which doesn't help my gameplay, I just chalk it up to my Shepard focusing so much on her lips that he became stupid! In case you haven't noticed, he loves her full lips. Posted Image

Who is to say Shep will grow old at a normal rate after being rebuilt in the Lazarus Project.

TIM may have wanted a long lasting savior of man, bang for the buck.

The fact is that my Liara-Shep will live a "blip" compared to an asari, who lives approx 1,000 years. So she initially was ok with the coldness displayed on Illium.  Then LotSB happened and BAM! Sucked back in .... but she struggles with staying with Liara after the cabin scene. Right now that Liara-Shep is sitting on the edge of her bed wrestling "should I stay or should I go". Decision won't be made until ME3 is in my hands ......

As for my Ash Shep, he has no plans on giving up on his hard headed woman. He is an absolute sucker for her and is kicking himself about his actions on Horizon. He has tried writing Ash back but keeps deleting his "lame" responses. Poor shmuck ...

I have a male Shep that is for Ash and like most I have a FemShep which is for Liara.

Had no drama resisting any temptation to cheat on Ash even after the brush off in the hope something good would come along and it all looks good.

Am I the only one who doesn't have problems with the Horizon encounter?

It's not that bad, well, if you don't choose the "It's been too long" line. I always choose "You sound angry.." and diverge from there on, depending on how I want to characterize my Shep. And it's pretty easy to justify the sometimes jarring dialogue as the conversation imploding, the way it sometimes happens when two people, who care deeply for each other, have too strong emotions; you want to be together, but you seem to say all the wrong things and get the same form the other side and you are hurt and the whole thing builds upon itself until it implodes.

At the end of the day, Ash is pissed off, cause Shep is working with one of the vilest enemy of the Alliance, and Shep is hurt, cause after all they've been through, she doesn't trust his judgement and maybe him/her by extension. It won't resolve itself in their very first conversation. Plus, the letter after is like a salve for a sore wound for my cannon Shepley, and a chance to be civil for the other Sheps, who move on and romance Miri or Jack.(I guess the bad story writing is for those who didn't romance the VS and get nothing after Horizon, but then hey, they weren't that close in that case, were they now?)

Would I've liked to have Ash throughout the whole ME2 - hell, yeah. But obviously the VS has some big role to play in ME3, so why not maximize the profit form their departure from the team and create a rift between them and Shepard, setting up an engaging resolution for the final act?

Now that I think about it, maybe it's that - you get all the negative experience in ME2 and have to wait for the culmination and the relief until ME3.

Point is, this conversation needs to be bad and jarring and awkward. Could it have been better written - perhaps, at least some dialogue paths, but others are just fine.

EDIT: @Errol Dnamyx Pool Ash is just WOW...:)

@Xelander:  Well said. I hadn't really thought of it in that light. Generally, I just thought Horizon was crap writing! But I realize now it was mainly because I was upset that I wouldn't have Ash in ME2.

@Lord Zeuss: Everytime I see your "Hillbillies are Awesome!"  I wonder if some Artist on the thread could draw a "hillbilly and Ash together" pic.Posted Image  or a bunch of hillbillies surrounding Ash pic.

@Errol Dnamyx:  WOW! How can anyone cheat on that!!!!!Posted Image
