Am I the only one who doesn't have problems with the Horizon encounter?

Well it has always annoyed me. But I came to realize when I played through it recently how accurate at least some of what she's saying is. Maybe it's you, maybe you feel like you owe Cerberus after they brought you back. She's absolutely right to question Shepard at this point. And Cerberus IS the enemy. It has already attacked the Alliance before, you even went on missions in ME1 to find out about this.

But I still hate the conversation. I hate it because it's too short and Shepard doesn't explain him/herself properly no matter which option you pick. It's obviously not meant to be a nice experience meeting Ashley again there.

That doesn't really mean the writers failed though. If their goal was to make this an unpleasant confrontation, they certainly succeeded. It's just not really what you want if you're an Ash fan.

Yes! I finally watched the gameinformer Q&A podcast and they said it seemed like ME1 squaddies (including Ash) would be big players in ME3. That reassures me even more.

I'm so glad Ashley (and Liara) will be squadmates again. I refused to romance her prior to that news because I saw no point to it after finding out she only had a bit part in ME2.

Where is that picture where Shepard's gasping? (it was actually a picture of him midsentence with his mouth open but still!) It needs to follow this (I know I saw it buried in this thread).

It amazes me the Ashley hate out there. It's not like there is a "Why I think people hate Tali" thread or a "Why I think people hate Garrus" thread. Bottom line is: the haters will continue to hate no matter what arguments we put up. So let em!   Their hate will not stop me from loving my favorite character in Mass Effect. I went to the "Supporting Ashley for ME3!" thread and read what you guys wrote on the "Why do you like Ashley? question. And I have to say I was quite impressed, and agree with everything posted. Hold the Line! Ash is worth it!!!

Edit for top of page Ash.

According to the podcast, all the squadmates from ME2 will have minor roles in ME3 because of their possibly dying. It wouldn't make sense for Bioware to invest the time and finances to give a possibly dead character a major role in the game. The VS and Liara were intentionally held back from ME2 to save them for a major role in ME3. This is awesome news for the Ashley, Kaidan, and Liara fans. Not so much for the others.

Maybe this adds more fuel to the fire over the rumor of Ashley and Kaidan being Spectres.

Yeah, that rumor has been confirmed as true.

And I don't think all ME2 sqadmates will only have smaller roles. Characters like Samara, Mordin and Grunt yes... but all the LI's will surely have the same amount of screentime as they have had in ME2. And why would BW buy expensive VA's like Miranda's, if she only gets a cameo or side mission?

I think they were referring to squadmates who will be squadmates for the entire game. (i.e. Ashley, Kaidan, Liara). The ME2 characters will have various roles, just not squadmates for the entire game.

It was probably written in Yvonne Strahovski's contract ( before ME2 ) for her to return for ME3, in whatever capacity.

I'm not a big "I told you so" person, but I was one of the posters warning people that the ME2 squad would have a reduced role.

I honestly think ME2's plot progression will be like Dragon Age', with the ME2 squad playing a role during certain sections;

Salarian/Krogan portion (Grunt and Mordin)
Geth/Quarians (Legion and Tali)
Turian Homeworld (Garrus)
Cerberus (Jacob and Miranda)
Asari Homeworld (Liara with a Samara/Morinth cameo)
Drell Homeworld (Thane)

Only person I can't think of is Jack.

I agree with you completely. And I also think that you will have to choose between squadmates during some of those sections:

The Krogan/Salarian conflict: Choose to help Wrex/Grunt or Mordin. One of the two will be alienated.

The Geth/Quarian conflict: Choose to help Legion or Tali. One of the two will be alienated.

Thoughts?

I can see something like that happening. There may be a shot at gaining both loyalties if you managed to establish some previous flags (Wrex is the leader of Krogans instead of Wreav, Tali isn't exiled, etc.)

Do you think those type of options would tend towards the extreme? I mean, the Reapers are attacking. If I want to help my Krogan buddies, it doesn't mean I want to damn Sur'Kesh to fire and destruction. But it might be inevitable.

It's their fault for starting all this bickering just as the Reapers invade.

Wouldn't they(Bioware) though? Was it considered extreme when we had to choose between Kaidan and Ash on Virmire?

ME3 is the last chapter. I could see them going very extreme.
