So a character's sexuality is simply a limitation of implemented script, rather than an aspect of their personality?

Sexuality doesn't always affect personality. Ashley can still be a tough as nails woman with a senstiive side if she's dating Femshep. Hell if I can write it and it be called awesome, I'm sure a professional team of writers can do the same.

I wasn't saying it did. I should have written "an aspect of their character", because I think that a character's sexual orientation is intrisically part of their character.

To try to put it in simpler terms; let's say a Shepard likes spinach. But Ashley does not. I don't think you should be able to change her character into a form where she likes spinach too because you want the option of going on a spinach cook-a-thon with her.

*Edit* And as evidence that I bear no ill will towards Ash fans of differing opinions, here's a ToP Ash pic.

I don't know that anyone was suggesting she couldn't be, just that her or anyone's sexuality is still an important aspect of them.

This was hastily done with poor quality images (not sure why I bothered) but I needed something to do. So here! Haha.  He's telling her a secret.  The secret is  "I really love spinach."  Hehehe.

it may or may not be. I've been hit on by gay guys, but I'm straight, it still gave my ego a little boost and I ploitely declined their advance. Now to someone else they could get offended and be all angry about it. It just depends on the person. Ashley's been through hell and back with femshepso I doubt she'd take offense to femshep showing romantic feelings for her and even be willing to give it a shot.Posted Image

Spinach: Shepard's secret to greatness.

Unfortunately, Ash finds it strangely akin to bitter snot. :(

Hmmm.... I would like it if Ash was a possible LI for F!Shep =) I always always play female Sheps, Wardens and Hawkes so I have missed out on Morrigan and Ash. It would be great to finally get to romance her. I guess that I see it a bit as Garrus being a LI in ME2. Maybe all that time working together made them look at each other in a new way. If this is true I have to start a new F!Shep for Ash, haven't got a single save in which she survived Virmire.

edit: added

Maybe she didn't feel comfortable coming out in ME? And I guess that Horizon wouldn't be the best place to tell the world.

F!Shep: "I could use you on my team, it will be like old times"
Ash: "You're working with Cerberus, they are bad"
F!Shep: "Look at the big picture"
Ash: " I'm leaving, btw, I love you"
F!Shep: "Oki.... call me later, please"?!?

Have never seen Ash on Horizon, only Kaidan sorry if I it is completely different.

Kaidan's Horizon dialouge is almost word for word exactly the same as Ash's.

I dunno, personally I'd have a hard time seeing Ashley not going for what she really wanted in Mass Effect 1, especially with all of the galaxy about to end. It just didn't strike me as being in character for Ashley to not tell Shepard how she felt even if she was supposedly in the closet. I mean it was already against the rules for her to romance Male Shepard, so when they were at the end of the world, she's strong enough that I don't see much stopping her.

I brought Xbox world (UK) the weekend as it had an interview and "exclusive" on Mass Effect 3. Underneath the widely distributed picture of Ash was the caption "Ashley williams, rascist but sexy"Posted Image I was slightly dissapointed to say the least. They also spelt Wrex "Rex" once.

Hey, they called Kaidan fat and noted how most people shag Liara.

I really don't understand this crap.

I agree that it would have been better if she had been available right from the beginning. But in my F!Shep's world there is no M!Shep so she doesn't know how Ash would behave in that situation. Yeah, I know, but I have to roleplay it somehow    =)    I guess it will be the same way for a M!Shep going after Kaidan if he turns out to be gay to. Guess we will just have to wait and see how it turns out            :)

Oh lord, seriously?<_<

Jesus Christ, the fact that idiocy can actually be published makes me very worried. I worry that these articles and those kinds of captions might suggest that the whole 'Ashley is da racist' is actually becoming publicly acknowledged as 'fact' by the mainstream gaming media.
And let me tell you, that would suck.
I've said many times now that I worry about Ashley being flanderized and I worry that her minor distrust of aliens will become the ONLY DEFINING ASPECT OF HER CHARACTER as a result of it being the only thing people ever mention about her.
To be fair, that was probably just a joke and if the fact that they called Kaidan 'fat' and spelt 'Wrex' as 'Rex' might just mean that the author was taking the ******, aiming for the lowest common demoninator of intellect in the Mass Effect community, was ill informed or some combination of all three.

Bioware never fails at giving me reasons to worry. A hatchet-job on Ashley is again rocketing to the forefront of my concerns.
