(1) Romancing Chakwas is not impossible, it's improbable that it'll happen. As to why, Shepard and company stand to be patients in her care from time to time. Shepard was her patient. It would be very unprofessional for her to even leave an opening piquing Shepard's interest in the process. However, she attended the crew when they mutinied, and she left a stable posting to join Shepard on a Cerberus vessel. You can take her speaking about Joker needing her and imply that Joker's only a convenient truth that she can use to answer Shepard's question rather than say I wanted to stay on with you. Then again that makes Shepard such a force that the Reapers should feel something when he/she walks into an area.
Again, it's not impossible to have a romance with Chakwas. It's just highly unlikely because it would have to be a convincing bit of storytelling to allow that one to happen.
(2) In hindsight, two years is a short time. Heck twelve years is short. Prior to that two year period or during that period, it can feel like an eternity. Humans in Mass Effect still go by a 365-day calendar. If the average person is up for 12 hours that's 4380 hours in a year. A lot of change can happen within that time.
My nephew was born in July last year. I just recently saw a picture of him sitting by himself and looking bigger than the 18 to 20 inches he was when I helped bring him home from the hospital. Heck, there was a noticeable difference in size shortly before I last saw him and that was a little over a month after he came from the hospital and about a week before my aunt took him home. He's not a year old yet and he's advanced so much. By next year he'll be walking.
Two years is plenty of time to realize things you never considered before. A belief that someone died and learning that they actually didn't can do a great deal to someone's psyche. In Ashley's (or really the VS') case, there's so much there to deal with regardless of whether they were involved with Shepard. That can be played up without too much fuss though I wish the Horizon scene had more thought put into it because there shouldn't have been the calm or quiet anger that was present. It should have been outright confusing. Not pull-your-hair-out confusing, but trying to maintain your composure confusing.

I think the hillbillies banner is clever, given its context. However I also feel like it just adds more fuel to the ignorance of the haters.
Not like it takes a great deal of fuel in that regard.
Besides...I like mudbugs...though I do try to avoid possum.
Nothing wrong with hillbillies .... Sergeant Alvin Cullum York was one of the most decorated American Soldiers in WWI. The Tennessee hillbilly received the Medal of Honor for leading an attack on a german machine gun nest, taking 32 machine guns, killing 28 German soldiers and capturing 132 others.... in real life.

True, but haters gonna hate, and I'm not going to change myself to suit the haters or else to placate the haters.

It says Ash is from a large family, however, it says she is one of 4 children.
That is not a large family.

In comparison to some, it would seem like it. And moreso if the current trend of family sizing continues.
But as someone who comes from an exceptionally large family, I snickered at Shep's "sounds like a big family" line.

Four kids is big in today's era, by today's standards.

And even as a kid, schoolmates having more than one sibling was considered getting to be a "large family." Go figure.

Just wanted to say that I'm happy about the news of ME Genesis coming out for Xbox. I've wanted a mShep that romanced Ash, but can't bring myself to kill Kaidan in ME1--even with a mShep. This way I can have Ash as a romanced character or just a friend without having directly killed Kaidan. I really want to get to know Ash better. She's a great character--2nd only to Kaidan and femShep for me.
I guess that could be one good thing to come out of ME Genesis.

Could have used Genesis last month when I had to face the grief of creating a level 60 import for ME2. When's it coming out?

In my experience, almost everyone has at least one sibling (at my school). I'm one of one though. Also 4 kids is a large family by my standards and I'm not sure of the average size of a military family but I assume it is lower.Brodyaha wrote...

As for leaving Ash, I can't see a man doing that. Chivalry and attraction would have to affect the decision somehow. As femshep though, it could go either way.

I can understand that, I was the same way too, but then I changed my mind to how I feel about Mass effect now and Iw as pleasantly surprised by his romance. I even saved him on a few Male Shepard playthroughs and ahve saved Ashley on some femshep playthroughs (obviously)Shadow_82 wrote...

Two station wagons. One Ford Falcon, one Mitsubishi Sigma. Until my third eldest sister completely destroyed the Sigma. Only a few of us left at home now. I'm Number Eight and I'm the eldest still living at home. The other seven are : 4 Married. 1 teaching overseas in England, 1 just finishing her doctorate and 1 in the Seminary.
Myself and my three younger siblings are all planning on joining the military. I'm going Infantry, my brother's going Engineers, one sister wants to become a fighter pilot and the other wants to be an attack dog handler. Like I said, big family.
