This post was posted by Badpie. I hope she doesn't mind me reposting it but it states to the tee what I would want to say......
- She's vibrant. Totally full of life. She's fiery and energetic and her energy is infectious.
- She's beautiful. Totally gorgeous. Elegant features like perfect cheekbones, full lips, big soulful brown eyes, killer eye lashes and let's face it, the cutest nose ever.
- She's bad ass in a totally believable way. She's tough, but they didn't make her a cookie cutter "I'm so hot yet so tough yet so tender and all the things plucked from a best of" type of tough. She's tough because she's vulnerable. And strong because she has issues to overcome. She's also physically badass in a way I can believe. You're not gonna see Ash win a fist fight with a Krogan. But you will see her get in a good kick to his quads at the very least.
- She's refreshingly flawed. And not flawed in the Miranda or Jack way. Nothing against either of those characters except that they are two sides of Ash just taken, split and amplified because it was too confusing for people to deal with a truly real character that could both ****** them off and make them love her. But I digress. She says offensive things, things that make anyone go "okay wait, hold on" She has opinions that are not shared by me or by my Shepard. She has a martyr complex, daddy issues, a big mouth that often says the wrong thing. My Shepard (and me) have been totally annoyed to **** by her at a couple points. But I love that about her.
- She challenges Shepard. She's the only one to ever do this. The only one to ever play devil's advocate with him and speak her mind and stick with her convictions. In ME2, people could disagree with you, but all it took was a charm option to get them to say "maybe you're right." Ash sticks to her guns, and that threatens a lot of manly alpha!Sheps out there who don't like being sassed by no wimmen folk.
- She's smart. A lot smarter than she lets on. Her persona comes off sometimes as a brassy marine grunt, something she's probably had to put on in order to make it in the boys' club, but she's incredibly intelligent.
- She somehow manages to be an incredibly sexual being without being tarted up. In heavy armor, a military bun and no makeup Ash is able to wield her sexual nature expertly. She's comfortable in her own skin and confident. She's perfectly aware that she's gorgeous, but she only uses that asset on her own terms. Hooray for hellcats.
I was pretty happy choosing Ash over anyone around 07 to 08 when I played through ME a few times; but when Mass Effect 2 came out I felt like I shouldn't pick her. Ash was kind of an un-necessary ass in the second game; it made me feel like I was in school all over again you know? Being picked on by someone you give a crap about and then having them cry wolf about "Loving you" then for 2 years they are all choked up about you - only to spit in your face when you come back and try to explain yourself?
It felt like middle school drama to me; I felt like her personality was too childish at that point. When someone like Liara changes her very personality and becomes as challenging as her mother (scary ****

Seriously? Coming in here and calling her a racist b*tch is mature?

You're like a religious person; instead of trying to admit to your "logic" (and I use that term loosely) and its flaws you have to read, hear, and see things that you choose to see. I asked for people to make me a believer and instead you chose to try and make me think that the whole Ashley fanbase is a bunch of ****s who try to "drive out" new commers instead of finding joy in converting someone or at least trying to point out "the good things" about something.
And to the other Ashley fan-base; I hope that Shadow doesn't represent majority of ya...Cause I'm really trying to find a decent conversation here.

I think I speak for everyone on here when I say we're tired of the racist ,hillbilly, bigot remarks.
This is the very reason so many good Ash fans(including myself) don't post in here anymore.
It's because of asinine comments like yours.

I don't thinkg explaining to you the problem is going to fix anything; and besides if you really gave a **** about Ashley you'd be trying to boost her instead of continuing to rant. I'm still waiting; though I think at your pace I'll be here until the thread 404's.

Firstly: there's a little word called "tact", and you evidently don't know how to use it.
Would you randomly walk into a restaraunt and tell them they have ****** food, and then ask them to tell you why you should buy their food? I don't think so.
You come in guns hot, and people are going to throw their shields up. It's as simple as that, so don't be suprised when people react negatively to your post.
And secondly: I'm religious and I find your comment offensive and wholly misguided.

I feel like my troll stomp needs work, does it even make sense? Does it need more time in the shop?

2.) I understand how to be tactical; and I understand that randomly calling something crap isn't going to get much positive attention. However when someone has a reasonable argument they should at least have a reasonable response; unless of course you don't truely believe in being a reasonable person and only believe in "fighting for what you believe in" which is another Religious / Fan-Boyisim ideal apparently...
3.) Judging from the negative responses I would imagine no one here has a reasonable "objection" to my comments about Ashley. Most of you are either trolling / flaming or the only one who did respond can't come up with a reason to justify Ashleys ignorant and childish behaviour; meaning that in general this is an extremely one sided thing here.
I've stated before that I liked Ashley in ME1. I even said I chose her majority of the time because she seemed interesting. I thought over the course of the series she would mature into a less racist / radical person and become more of a hard fought woman like Ripley from Alien (which is a damn good lead Female role). Hell even a Sarah Connor from T1 and 2 would have been welcome; but instead she turned back the maturity and kicked up the whole ""YOU BETRAYED MEE!"" "But...I've been dead?.." ""**** YOU I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!"" "Right.."
Now then; I'm done trying to see something benifical about your little group and Ashley.. Apparently theres no light at the end of this tunnel. Theres a saying about pets; their nature reflects that of the owner..I say that the fan-base of Ashley kind of reflects upon what Ashley really is..She didn't care about Shepard or she would have believed him more than she did; and you guys don't care about gaining the support of a loyal Mass Effect player who generally and genuinely wants to have a new view on the game and its characters.
I bid you good day, good night, and have a fun one kids.

I'm Malcolm, a scorpio, U.S. Army soldier, and a generally upstanding person.
I've been a regular poster on Ashley fan thread since the old Bioware forums in 2009, along with Badpie. It's been awhile since I've had internet access (approximately five months) so I'm just now learning about ME3, and I can honestly say it's been met with equal parts excitement (Ash returning) and trepadation (Mac Walters as head writer). But I'm an optimistic person, so I'm betting it will kick all kinds of ***.

You didn't really come in here giving off the feeling that you genuinely were interested since you called her a racist **** in your very first post. That kind of sounds like you've already made up your mind. Especially considering she is not racist. And I think people aren't here are within their rights to be a little defensive when you start posting with things like that, considering all the nonsense spewed about Ashley from fans who hated her.
Other than that, the Horizon scene was not written well for either Shepard, Kaidan or Ashley. It was mostly done a plot device to get Shepard to potentially pick one of the new romances in ME 2 without really being a "cheater."a
Also, since Kaidan and Ashley have the same lines almost word for word, it isn't really a something that is unique to Ashley.
Beyond that, not only are Shepard's choices of dialogue responses poorly done, but really Ashley can't really be blamed for thinking the worst. She obviously had a lot of confusion and anger going into the meeting and probably needed to vent. And who can blame her? She just heard her friend/significant other is miraculously alive and working for the terrorists that they fought togther. Is she supposed to assume that Shepard had been ressurected and was working to save human colonies on behalf of people who had supposedly destroyed them in the first game? Even if Shepard had come out to say it, isn't that a rather unbelievable story for them to hear? In any case she still apologises afterwards becajuse she knows her reaction wasn't good. But either way, if you actually liked all that much her in the first game why didn't you try to see things from her perrspective?
It's not really that hard to understand. She says you betrayed her becuase you are mysteriously working for the enemies you both fought from the first game. She has no way of knowing your motivations. And all you really have for her is a rather outlandish story. No she didn't react perfectly but then, her character is still more human with flaws. Besides, her caution is not unwarranted, she couldn't even have been certain that it was really Shepard or taht Cerberus hadn't done anything to him/her. According to Miranda they very nearly did, with the control chip.
And complaining that she didn't grow as a character in the the sequal seems a little strange considering her role is too small to get any real development and she can already become less "radical" in her views back in the first game.

Anyone? I'm really trying to find a reason that Ash is a good romance. I just can't do it though!
Liara spent 2 years fighting for you when you were dead; she lost her only friend trying to save you. - Thats friggen dedication.
Tali basically defends your ass left and right and always is that friendly innocent(sounding) young girl trying to do great things for her people; and clearly is only bias via the geth but learns through Legion that they aren't so damn bad.
Jack is crazy but mis-understood.
Miri is a skank.
Kelly is a skank.
Ashley is a racist who basically chews you out after bailing on you for 2 years.
-- Someone prove me wrong / prove to me what is so good about Ash.
There is not a single line in game that suggests what you said about Tali and Legion. But in game she does hold it at gun point and only begrudgingly backs down becuase shepard tells them both to.
Instead of arguing I'm going to attempt to be reasonable. (I like how you defend an unrepentant murderer, becuase she's "misunderstood" I like Jack as well but really? Be constistant)
Miranda a skank? Hardly. (Like you mentioned before show me proof of this.)
Kelly yeah she flirts but only if shep didn't nip that in the bud in the first place. (Is that a hole in the point you tried to make?)
Ash is racist how? Is it the fact she kills wrex? (if so you've got a weak argument friend) a krogan merc pointing a weapon at you commanding officer and it being obvious he isn't going to cooperate... what else was she to do? The "aliens from the animals" comment? (If this is your point then you took one line and turned it out of context, another weak argument you have.) If you meant the sicking the dog on the bear analogy then you just missed the point. Which was the council races' own speicies will be more important than humanity in a crisis.
Oh lets jump to Horizon. Shepard was dead for two years and when she finds out that you're back and working for a terrorist organization she's not supposed to question that? (Is that the only real argument you've got?) Now using not just your opinion, but real facts from in game. Why don't you prove to me she's a racist.

@ LeVaughnX: You need to get your facts straight.Ash and Shep took it to Cerberus in ME1...then she finds out he's working with them in ME2...How the hell would you feel of you were Ash and found out your friend/lover was working with the enemy? Ash had every right to be pissed about it.
edit: Hello Malcom and welcome back ... lol.
Unfortunatly you can't fix stupid. And there is no real reason to get angry with him. Becuase if you noticed while he was demanding proof against his "point" (I guess I didn't see one though) he didn't exactly give one cept... "Ash is racist!" Which I pointed out earlier. Too bad he left though. (I wanted to see how he'd respond.) Oh well.

***SCENE***
A known troll (Volus Warlord) returns to the bridge from which it came after a day of trolling in the Ashley Wiliams forum. It returns only to find a horrific scene of carnage. There are dead trolls laying everywhere as far as the eye can see. It then promptly places a call to 911.
Volus Warlord (Speaking with complete terror in its voice): H...H..Hello, is...is..this 911?.....I...I....need help....P...P...PLEASE help me!!!
Female Dispatcher: Sir can you tell me what the problem is?

Volus Warlord: NO!!!! NO!!! NO!!! I SAID I WAS SORRY!!!!!
A male voice can be heard among the chaos of boomsticks discharging: Too late Mutha****a, now you're dead.
