I do think Ashley looks stunning. I'm not a huge fan of the thigh high boots and heels. I don't mind the hair really, but for practicality reasons I can sympathize to your objections Chignon.

Oh, don't get me wrong. She does look stunning. She just doesn't look like Ash to me.

Edited for top of the page Ash:

I see your points Rose, but since I've been doing runs to perfect my Shepard's for this game, I noticed that the Light armor in Me1 was no moer than a catsuit with armor placed on certain spots. That and the knowledge of bioware publicly saying that you can customize your squds looks means that that might jsut be herdefault or low leveled appearance. Maybe you cna buy her or unlock new armor for her as she gets stronger in the leveling system like in ME1 with her heavy armor with some points in her armor power slot. Lets we not forget Shepard was on that mission in alliance fatigues (and had no shield because of it) so appearances seem to change throughout the game. No worries.Posted Image

True, although I think comparing her catsuit to ME1's light armour falls flat when we consider that Ashley as a soldier got to wear heavy armour in ME1 and also wore her signature heavy Phoenix armour during her Horizon cameo in ME2.

Outfit changes happen for Shepard, yes, but they if BioWare continues ME2's trend then they won't happen for squadmates (except for a very slight change or recolouring, i.e. Jack's vest outfit). I still hope you're right though, AD.

Additionally, it's not only her armour that seems off to me. It's a combination of impractical armour (zipper, thigh-high boots with heels) and her impractical hair cut.

>>Video game (however grounded in realism)

>>Real life

Please select one. So long as her body is completely covered, there may be any number of reasons why her light armor is practical in the future.

I don't really care for your condescending attitude. What I do care about however is character continuity.

I wonder what kind of dialouge we get. This is the time for specualtion that leads to massive discussions that span dozens or hundreds of pages! Ash (and her thread) IS BACK!

She never went away anywhere. And neither will we :)

It's a game....it'd be a little boring if her hair is a bun ALL the time we see her...she looks beautiful now. She can still be her badass self and look good too.

Props to you Bioware.

Yup.  That's exactly where I'm at right now.  She is definitely not as... um... over the top as I was afraid she would be and she still knows how to wield her rifle just like old times it would seem.
The old days are back!

To be honest I'm wondering how my Shep will make it up to Ash and (hopefully) be accepted back.

Will they both take a portion of the misunderstanding on Horizon?

Will there be a heartfelt discussion on what they both have done while apart? This would include being faithful, faltering with someone else but wanting to restart the relationship or just breaking up altogether.

Will Ash even know that my Shep was unfaithful when she greets him on the Normandy?

Shepard running and jumping on to the Normandy ...
Ash: Get off the Normandy sum****! We are here for the Admiral only!
Shep: Posted Image

I've thought about re-playing him to stay faithful, but it just wouldn't seem honest. He's going to have to suffer the Consequences.

I still think you hve to break up with one of your LI's if you have too. There'll be some heartbroken VS's and someheartbroken ME2 LI's but there can only be one....unless both just go we're all gonna die, might as well check something off the bucket list. xD (I kid)

Or maybe, if you don't have enough points for something, maybe one of the LI's gives up and gives a snarky, or genuine "You should be with them, you seem happier" or something.

I just hope that Bioware handles these triangles well and that Ash's reaction stays unique to who you were with.

What do you think Ash would feel in regards to the possible ME2 "fling" choices?

I think she would prefer Shep to have been with Miranda (does not mean that she would like it) over the other two.

Jack? "What the frock were you thinking? With her?"

She would be really pissed about Tali (double betrayel). She would also be upset that Shepard would risk Tali's health just to Posted Image.

The fact that Ashley is featured in the Collector's Edition alternate appearance pack makes me optimistic that she is a permanent squaddie.

I think Ashley would crack Tali's helmet open (and Kaidan would biotic kick Garrus in the teeth) since BOTH knew of the previous relationship between Shepard and Ash/Kaidan. That's the only possible catfight I could see is between two ME1 squaddies.

Everything you've said is making a whole lotta sense to me Chignon.  Now that the initial shock has worn off slightly I'm starting to think level headed again.  I too care about character continuity and am concerned for what's to come.  Excited.  But concerned.

Oh don't worry Batty.  (Can I call you Batty?  I've always wanted to lol! :P ) It'll take a lot more to bring this gal down.  Cautiously optimistic is a perfect way to describe where I am right now.  I just wanna see Ash done right so badly.

@Milla: Lol, "Batty" is fine. (I've even been known to answer to "Batty-cake" on occasion). I think cautiously optimistic is the only way to be. Although I do always try to think positive thoughts, I am afraid of being disappointed again. Still, most of what I've seen so far seems to be coming down on the side of what I'd hoped ME3 would be. As I've said, I'm willing to forgive smaller shortcomings so long as Ash retains her awesome personality. (I mean, she's always been gorgeous, but as a straight girl, I didn't fall in love with her for her looks!)

@Batty lol! I hear ya. Her looks are an added bonus to the personality that captured my attention immediately. That's what is most important to me. Otherwise, she's not Ash.

Good to see that Ashley's back, but her redesign is wack. If you're not fond of it either, I'd suggest making some noise on this forum. Otherwise, they'll most definitely just keep it as is.

Well, I think we have to remember the Reaper attack did happen pretty quickly, even Ash might not have had time to change.

As much as I like her looks in this, part of me does hope she was too rushed even to pull out one of those hairband things and get her hair out of her eyes. Though I can't view the vids yet and can only base that on the screenshots helpfully posted here.

Ash: MOVE!!!

I like her new look. Yeah she's a soldier and should (and probably will) wear more armor, but she looks more feminine now.

Eh, I've given up trying to expect realism from Mass Effect. It's a lost cause, ME2 taught us that. I'm instead holding out for good writing.

@Milla: Exactly! Although, I confess, it will be an excise in mental discipline for me to come to terms with a more casual Ash in battle (if that's what we get). There are aspects of Ash's personality-such as her realism-that falter a bit in the face of high-heeled combat boots. (To be fair though, I can't tell if her new shoes are actually heels. Right now they could pass for fancy two-tone boots).

Agree.. And in defense of the heels, they slightly resemble something you'd see a treeworker wearing.  Just more futuristic and feminine.  I only bring this up becuase obviously we're going to be roughing it up with the enemy in ME3 in lots of wooded areas.  Like... the woods.   And the forest.  :P

I've said it in the past, but I can't wait to hear Ash's voice lines for the concussion blast:

"Park it!"

Will be awsum =3
