@Milla: Ooh, I like that explanation! I think I will steal it for my head!canon, thank you. After all, the salarian homeworld is supposed to have jungles, isn't it? Jungles have trees! Practicality, yay!
I knew it had to make sense somehow. Rough terrain requires certain things to be taken into consideration. And as for the reason that she's wearing thigh highs? Bugs of course. Keeps em away while still looking stylish. While the space between her booty and top of thigh high is not covered... it's simply there for movement purposes like her butt thong. You remember the one on her phoenix armor right? It's all coming together now. How could I not have seen it before.

I mean, think about it, even if you are so distracted that you cannot even find few seconds to pull your hair back in a ponytail (or something - although I'm having trouble imagining practical and efficient Ashley being THAT distracted), wouldn't you at least push it back behind your ear? it takes like a second and makes it so much easier to see what you're shooting at.

her hair is bugging me, sorry it really feels more like an excuse to demonstrate the new graphic engine and how pretty hair will be in ME3.

Ash + pony tail....
I can't think about it too much; can't have my heart melt just yet.

As far as the new LIs go, i think Ashley would probably be less disgusted by Shepard hooking up with Tali, actually. She knows Tali and is friends with her, admittedly it might feel like a personal betrayal but I have a feeling that Ash could probably understand what Shepard may potentially see in Tali easier than (at least from her perspective).a "terrorist lieutenant" a or a "psychotic ex con."

Eh, I've given up trying to expect realism from Mass Effect. It's a lost cause, ME2 taught us that. I'm instead holding out for good writing.
I agree, Zeussie. As long as the writing I good, I suppose that makes up for ... the rest.

What, you don't consider going fisticuffs with a 12 foot Yahg realistic?

Is that the size of Ash's ass, or some kind of armor padding? Her buttock region looks like its been touched up by miranda herself.

About Ash, for some reason I'm getting the feeling that any of the real romance they'll somehow manage to put off to the end, just to keep you longing for it and working towards it. Actually I think there's two ways they could do it:
1) Ash and Shep are "too busy" (or at least one of them is) to get back involved, until the big final battle when they both might die again (a la Ilos). The reunite, big battle, then happily ever after.
2) Ash and Shep really miss each other and get back together not long after being reunited. But in order to give the players something to work towards, they let you build up towards something even bigger regarding the relationship.
Just my two cents. Although the whole being rewarded for being loyal would go a lot farther with #2 than #1.

I call this look Blue Steel!
I know there's a lot of talk concerning her outfit, obviously, but...anyone else distracted by her hair? Dat sheen!
But yeah...part of me is happy that they updated her look, but that novelty will fade. It'll be more acceptable if it reflects a (reasonable) growth as a character over the years.
I at least take comfort in the fact that there seems to be SOME armor integrated in her outfit, unlike Miranda's. It's somewhere between hers and Tela Vasir's. Plus, it's...not like the majority of female character (excluding femShep, obviously) had much more coverage.
Still, concerns are valid. It's always tricky with this sort of thing; companies need to appeal to the demographic, but this company in particular has made a reputation of making interesting characters. I will admit, oversexed designs have stinted my ability to appreciate certain characters, even ones that had a decent amount of depth. Eventually it comes to a head for me: either I come to see the character for what she is and get over any appearance quirks I don't approve of, or I am simply unable to take her seriously and give up.
Ash has the benefit of already establishing herself as a likeable character, and I do tend to keep a "it could always be worse" mentality. While it's not likely she'll be exactly the same as ME1 personality wise---and really, it would be insulting if she didn't change a little--they would have to deconstruct her very foundation for me to ever stop liking her.

Your Ash may understand ... my Ash would have killed Tali after dumping Shepard's body out the airshoot.
Having a comrade in arms hook up with your squeeze is double betrayal - homie don't play that.

Sure you're not exagerating? Because that's pretty much murder.
Anyways, N7 Collector's Edition has alternate appearances for all squad members (I like Ash's new suit, not so much her hair). Definitely going to buy.
