If she still is the kick-ass soldier, who isn't afraid to speak her mind and fights passionately for the things, she believes in and recites the occasional poem, I will be more than happy.
To slightly alter a Huxley quote:
I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness, I want sin.
I want passion. I want Ash.
edit: eternal shame on me for misspelling 'Ashley'
I know this is a bit old considering how quick things have picked up, but I have to commend you for quoting
Brave New World. That line in particular always stuck with me.

My full thoughts on New-Design!Ash. Bear with me *snip*
Some very good points there. A balanced view if I ever saw one. It does seem abundantly clear--now more than ever--that this is science
fiction. Not that it wasn't clear before, but Ashley's new look could symbolize the third game's embracing of a slick, stylized approach.
The hair, pretty as it is, is indeed very impractical. And she's a soldier...with Miranda, Jack and Samara (regarding the outfits) it could be argued that it didn't matter as much since they used biotics (even though they definetely don't protect against everything, you could at least say they didn't need to be as restricted). Those things are necessary for Ashley. So...it would seem necessary to simply suspend our beliefs a little further.
Maybe a...low ponytail or a messy bun might have been more believable? A similar but looser 'do from ME1/2 might have implied a certain...strain. Like it's not the pre-approved military cut but she's too busy
not dying to look in a mirror and fix it. Ah well, long as she has that...on the inside.
I have nothing against Miranda. Not exactly a fan, but no intense hatred. I'm just a little uneasy about the constant comparisons. I don't like that she keeps coming up. It's not like she's the first woman to ever wear a catsuit. Really, when I figrst saw Ash's new look, I didn't think of her, I thought of Jill Valentine and her "battlesuit" in Resident Evil 5.
...That being said, I'm at least glad they didn't make Ash blonde and kept her face largely the same.
But yeah, they could put Ashley in Miranda's exact likeness and even vice versa, but they'll never be the same character, which is why I'm hoping "Mirandify" will fade from usage.
