Personally I feel Shephard and Ashley are soldiers to the core, and the 'house and kids' concept doesn't really apply to them. They are the people willing to fight and die so that normal people can have that life, but it's not for them.



I think I said this before, but I much rather have an ending similar to MetalGearSolid 4 where Meryl and Akiba are outnumbered and outgunned fighting together against the frogs, willing to die together over a cause they both believe in.



I feel something similar would be much more fitting of Shephard and Ashleys characters.

To each their own. I just don't see Shepard giving up his life for the farm. Yeah he'd have Ash, but he doesn't seem like the guy to just throw his career away. They're both Alliance to the core, and would most likely continuning serving imho.

But it has to end sometime.  Even cybernetically enhance future Shepard is going to get older and slower.  I don't see why bening selfless and willing to place yourself between others and the danger meant for them means you never want anything of your own, or anything else besides that life.  It's exciting.  It's rewarding.  But it ends.  One way or another.
