Her website dossier is kind of confusing.  It mentions that she got promoted soon after the Saren business, but Shep still refers to her as a Gunnery Chief when he sees Anderson.  So, it might take a year to complete ME2, in which case that would make sense if she got her officer training.  And Shep never sees Anderson again after the initial visit.

It was quite confusing. If she got promoted after Saren business, Anderson should have known or maybe he just didn't mentioned it to Shepard OR since Shepard spends 2 years in medbay, he doesn't know about it. Either way, I don't think it would take long to complete officer's training if ME military training is similar to the real world. Not sure about US military but here at my place it take about 4 to 5 months to complete a training.

I thought that it was because Shepard didn't know exactly what her new rank was when first talking to Anderson or that he was just so used to calling her by her old rank from when he knew her he just stuck with it there, possibly without thinking even..

I guess Ash simply ot a field promotion. That was about time! And i think Ashs new role as a spectre will cause some problems, even if i dont know how exactly. But it must have consequences. Maybe their missions conflict with each other, the citadel council tries to play them against each other and then there is always this intrigant little weasel called Udina. He hates Shepard, that is no secret. I just want that guy dead, i hated him from the beginning of ME1.

as long as they make up for Horizon in ME3 it will all be worth it. from what i see the formula is all set up for us to get what weve always wanted,contiuning ashleys romance and haveing her as a squadmate.

ash's romance has spolied me since day one. i did love ME1 on its own, the story the charecters the revolutionary dilagoue wheel,the choices that impacted and shaped the game;but ashleys romance with shepard added something so speacial to the game and to the story.

You have a soldier destined for greatness who by chance meets a wonderful woman on the field of battle,who carrys you back to the ship when your knocked out.she then waits by your side in the med bay to see if your alright.from there the two gradullay build a relationship.Through conversations about family,religon,military service,sweet and playfull flirtation something more begins to grow ultimately culminating in an unspoken love.after the citadel is saved shepard and ash can finally focus on thier budding relationship.

then shepard dies and those few wonderful months togther are wiped away,all that is left are memory and misery.until one day he returns,back from the dead a prayer come true....or is it.shepard is now working with not so nice ppl,ppl who are labeled terroists and traitors by the goverments she defends with her life,what should have been a one of the happist moments in her life to date turs into more misery.

Ash still loves him and he still loves her,but theres a job to do,war is on the horizon (no pun intended) the galaxay lies on the brink,the time is rapidly approching when shepard and ashley will meet again,what will happen;will they get back togther,will someeone new come between them,will shep die again or will ash die....lots of questions to be answered one things for sure its gonna be one hell of a show.

Shep probably called her Gunnary chief because that was the rank that he knew her as.  It said that she got promoted after the saren business, but the attack and destruction of the Normandy was only a month after the Battle of the Citadel, so they might mean relatively soon after. 
Her files were classified because Shepard didn't spend all that time fighting Saren and no one else.  Exo-Geni, Cerberus, The Shadow Broker, and many others might want her dead for the trouble that Shepard and company caused them, so Anderson probably looked after one of his own on that one.

She was still Gunnery Chief when the Normandy was destroyed. Otherwise Shepard wouldn't have referred to her as that. So her promotion to Operations Chief could have come any time within the two years Shepard was gone.

As for her being a Lieutenant, it obviously happened after Horizon, though who knows when. The timeline is so non-linear after Horizon.
