Oh, and Ash can also just be the next human Spectre. That would be awesome and way appropriate for her.

I actually want Ash to save Shep in some way. In ME2 Shep kinda felt like wood. He didn't have good dialog talking to Ash. So Ash how you been? Face palm. His own death didn't bother him. Should have had two S's on his armor for Super Shep. Faster than speeding feelings, able to leap emotional entanglements in a single bound, yada yada. So him not always having the answers or the way out is ok for me. Ash wouldn't have to be super soldier. Just in the right place at the right time. The locker scene in ME1 shep is down and upset, Ash comes to show she stands with him and to pick him up. I don't want Conrad Shepard but depending on or getting help from someone you love is a good thing.

You've hit the nail on the head there, Liam.

Liam - you are exactly right. I take offense mainly to the whole notion that it has to be "cinematic." I'd rather she help Shepard and save him in other ways - it doesn't have to be some huge battle or pulling him onto a moving platform one-handed.

It could be as simple as Shep running out of ammo during a fight, and he thinks he is about to die. Pew pew The enemy drops and there stands Ash. Kinda like Legion sniping the two creeper creeping up on Shep in ME2. Simple but not super human.

Invinci!Shep is, from my literary-critiquing viewpoint, boring. He may be a fun figurehead for the intergalactic badass society, but in terms of character strength someone who can literally do no wrong is staggeringly bland.

In ME3, Bioware needs to reincorporate the human limits to Shepard's character that we saw glimpses of in ME1's locker scene. It was that scene and the implications behind it that set the ME1 romances apart from anything ME2 had to offer--for once Shepard is the supportee and not the support*er*.

True enough. I guess she did lay down her limits when she said "I'm an Alliance soldier, it's in my blood." I kinda don't *really* think she'd give her allegiance to someone else after making a statement like that. Spectre Ash would be awesome, but probably it wouldn't really be *her*. Flights of fancy, I has dem.

@Liam - Or, like when she shoots Wrex ..... but without the whole 'shooting Wrex thing'. Cool, calm, strong, in control.

@Zeuss - I prefer human!Shep to replicant!Shep or whatever he is now, but I really fear them taking the same route with Ash if provided the chance. The whole Horizon encounter can be designed to instill pathos, if handled properly (which I hope it will be!), but it can also fall into "hell hath no fury" territory if allowed to rest. There is so much more to Mass Effect than having to always be EPIC! and I hope they realize the subtleties of character are part of that.

Now this would be good to see, as the Alliance left Shepard behind, thus the Fraternization Regulations would no longer apply. Just think of all the more open Ashley and Shepard could be with their relationship.

You know, people like to point out how Shepard "saved" Ashley on Eden Prime, but really, she doing more or less fine by herself when Shepard came along. Remember this...

Was she glad for the help? Certainly. Did she really *need* the help? I'm inclined to say no.

(If anyone has the screenie where her gun is actually firing, it would greatly contribute to the badassery.;))

I don't know, I kinda liked the way they were always dancing around the regulations. It made their nonprofessional interactions supremely interesting without descending into syrupy dystopia.

i disagree although i love ash and her awsome combat ablities she really was in deep trouble on eden prime.her entire sqaud was killed geth were swarming all over the place there were no alliance reniforcments comeing anytime soon (exclude the normandy) and too top it off saren was going too blow up the colony and im sure ash was in the blast radius.

There you go. Now you take a look at that and tell me, does she look like she honestly needs help dealing with those geth? I didn't think so.B)

Well, if we're to use that logic, we must also then emphasize that Shepard "saved" Jacob (since we're told he was on Eden Prime for that whole mess). Technically it could be called true, but I distrust the motives of someone who goes in search of a technicality to invoke.:bandit:

@zeuss im just saying that the odds were heavily stacked against her.like a few have previously stated on here ash is no super human theres only so far she would have been able too go if the normandy hadnt come and stoped saren.

Yes, but at the time Shepard came gallavanting along, I think she was giving a good account of herself and would have survived the immediate skirmishes. Perhaps if geth search-and-destroy forces became substantially heavier she would have been in significantly more trouble. And yes, if the nukes had gone off, it would likely have ruined her whole day.

She had lost her whole squad but remember she was in decent position, however if Shepard wasn't there she would have ran into the attack drones which would have cut off her retreat.

Well - we know there were other survivors from Eden Prime (just not in her unit), so it's entirely feasible she could've rendezvoused with Jacob or the others from the 232 and gotten out with them as well.

I certainly think Ash was holding her own and would've been fine without Shepard swooping in - and that's the great thing about Eden Prime: there is nothing about that scene that would lead us to think that her death is imminent.  Though she was under attack, she took out the drones, found cover, and was preparing to fire on the geth when Shepard showed up.

I think it's accurate to say Shepard assisted her. And obviously, he saved everyone in the colony by disabling the nukes, but in that I think Ash had as much part as Shep did, since by then she'd joined Shep's squad.

@LZ - Assisted, definitely. But when we start tossing around words like "save" or "reliance" ... that's where I have to disagree. Just because she was helped doesn't mean she needed to have it in the first place.
