Remember Me
Agreed, that was great. I'll miss Ashley a lot too.
Glad to see that this thread is still around. I've never romanced anyone other than Ashley. Why? Because the way I see it, Ash is perfect for Shep, seeing as how they are both military. Shep/Ash are both hot headed, stubborn, and it makes their relationship that much more passionate with the ups and downs.
Just wish Bioware didn't screw up by leaving out Ash most of ME2 and then waiting until after Rannoch before Shep could even seal the deal with her in ME3. By the time you get to Rannoch you're like 3/4 done with the game.
That being said, still worth it for my male Shep to be with Ash.

Her asking how things are, perhaps having her saying she does miss him etc. Lot of options there.
Perhaps a little meeting where they briefly meet and afterwards she has to leave on a mission for quite some time so another meeting isn't possible.
That wouldn't have taken that many resources to pull off for BW.
At least the emails might be possible to do in a mod perhaps?

There was a very easy solution for BW to solve the lack of content in ME2 for Ashley, to some extent that is anyway. You recieve one email from her, why not have her send more?

Good idea. More emails would have been fitting. I mean Ash just found out her love is alive after being dead I would think she'd want to send more emails. That and I would think Shep would want to email her more since he would still have feelings for her.
Bioware just dropped the ball on Ash after ME1. ME3 they tried to recover but they focused too much on her looks (which I will admit was an upgrade), and not enough on dialogue and character interactions.

Just started a new playthrough myself.
I always romance Ashley.
It's a shame that she doesn't get much time in ME2...and during the middle part of ME3.
However, i think the beginning of ME3 was great for her romance. Especially if you romance someone else in ME2.
I did see a video on youtube of someone doing that and you have a bit of a discussion in ME3, Ashley not liking it and all. Not sure if you meant that.
I actually liked that option, it's not there if you stayed loyal I think. It feels right to argue a bit, it's been 2 years and all.
I think it is perfect for storyline purpose.
In ME2...it makes sense...storywise...that after what happened on Horizon...that Shepard would go to someone else.
Then in ME3...Shepard sees Ashley again...for the first time since what happened on Horizon...
...and then he sees her almost die right in front of him. So all the feelings come back just like that.
It just makes sense that Shepard would be with someone else in ME2...and then Shepard getting back with Ashley just fits so well with the storyline of ME3.

Agreed, Shep/Ash getting back together in ME3 just fits very well to me. Shep seeing Ash almost die kind of brings everything full circle, and they have so much history together.
As bad as it sounds, if Bioware actually had it written where Ash did die on Mars, I probably would have stopped the game right there and not touched it again.

First off, it´s a shame Ash doesn't get much real dialogue in ME 3 (where you actualyl pick topics and lead a conversation). Regarding this, the sooner you get either Ashley or Kaidan in ME 3, the more comments they'll make about the missions you finish and the progress in the main plot. The same if you use them for missions. Without spoilers, Ash & Kaidan talk a lot during missions and you end up understanding some things better IF you include them in key plot moments (which is, of course, a player's choice, it is up to you).
I, for one, liked these two characters. I think they were not given enough dialogue options in ME 3. In ME 1, Ashley was written by Chris L'Étoile, who also wrote Legion and Thane for ME 2 (some of the best, deepest characters in the franchise). Unfortunately, he left Bioware in 2009. He did an excellent work with these 3 characters, whoever wrote Legion and Thane for ME 3, just had to continue with the great foundational work and involve them in the galaxy-wide conflict.
With Kaidan Alenko or Ashley Williams, the writing was going to be trickier. First off, they were loyal to Shepard, to the core, in ME 1 (whether you were malShep or fem Shep). But they were military, like you. They can't just accept you are seemingly working for Cerberus. They both admit to "not wanting to believe the rumors". (direct quote from ME2)
Without an insight into what Shepard is doing in ME 2, they don't really know who you are anymore. Even Anderson, the paternal figure and one of Shepard's major supporters, doesn't really understand at first what is Shepard doing with Cerberus. There may be even rumors that you never died, that you simply defected. He admits to have been withholding information from you, the very first time you talk to Anderson in the Citadel.
If you stop to think about it, they don't know the details about the Lazarus Project or the Collectors' raids, TIM has probably been leaking misinformation all along (and that may include false info that you have fully embraced Cerberus ideals). The fact that all "Cerberus" personnel on board the SR-2 seem friendly should not overshadow the fact that it is a terrorist organization without scruples(Akuze? Kahoku? Jack and other biotic children kidnappings? Their bioweapons experiments with Rachni? Project Overlord? Trying and botching a secret operation to take control of a derelict Reaper?).
TIM manages to fool Shepard and his team several times in ME2, who is to say he does not fool the Alliance Intelligence into thinking of you as a turncoat?
The encounter on Horizon and the email from the Virmire survivor in ME 2 are very revealing of this. It would make sense, as fellow Alliance officers, they'd mistrust you until you fully prove your true allegiance, in other words, until you disprove all the propaganda and misinformation about you TIM may have spread while you were the C.O. on board one of their ships. Being given command of a Cerberus ship would definitely stir up suspicions among those who worked with you. If Ashley had joined you in ME 2, he would have become a defector. Which is one of the accusations that got Shepard in trouble between ME 2 / ME3
I agree, the writing and dialogue for both characters in ME 2 and ME 3 could have been much better, but story-wise it makes sense you have to regain their trust. It may come across as just being ****y, but in the 3-game story arc it makes sense. Even Tali has misgivings about joining you in ME2. In fact, she doesn't right away, as you remember. And even Liara, who had a critical role in the events leading up to Project Lazarus success does not join your mission in ME 2 either, in part because of your unwilling ties with Cerberus.
To use this as ammunition against Ashley or Kaidan, in the context of the trilogy, is unfair.

back with a few images of Ash from her classical days. Enjoy.

Bracing herself before engaging enemy.

Taking down the one at left.

Doing her thing.

Finding target.

Providing relief in the knick of time.

Not letting that thing go.
