I would argue honestly that the most likely kind of ending would be something along the lines of Shepard and his entire team being forced to go out in a blaze of glory, Ashley included, and dying alongside each other sacrificing themselves for the good of the galaxy.
In some ways I think this seems like the way the series would end but you never know. Maybe Shepard and his team will live or maybe it'll be Shepard dying and having Ashley merely staring deeply at his tombstone. It's hard to say at this point but given that I went the extra mile to stay faithful on no less than two playthroughs I reckon it should still feature somewhat an ending drenched in the romantic stuff. Just as long as it doesn't get too soppy. I love a good bit of emotion in a romance that can warm the heart though but preferably still mixed with the same chemistry that held it together in the first place, with laughs and jokes.

Incidentally here's a question for the board, how do you reckon the romance scene in Mass Effect 3 between Ashley and Shepard should go, do you reckon it should be powerful and passionate or soft and emotional?

No question, it should be powerful and passionate.......passion that leads to Ashley becomming pregnant. You mention something about Ashley staring deeply at Shepherd's tombstone.....what if.....she were crying and  pregnant while doing so? Now THAT would be powerful!!!

This...Minus the latter.  That would be too melodramatic for me.Posted Image

Agreed. I don't want melodrama, darn it! Heroes shouldn't have to die in the saddest way possible to still be great!:pinched:

If Bioware don't allow Shepard and Ashley to be happy at the conclusion of the trilogy, I may never play another Bioware game; I'll play ME1 and disavow the other offending games.

Yeah actually I kind of agree. It would be nice if just once a story like Mass Effect's could end on a happy note with Shepard and the love of his/her life getting a chance at a future rather than Shepard dying in a blaze of glory. Certainly would be nice to see some kind of happy closure between Ashley and Shepard, that's for sure.

If that's one of several *possible* endings, then that might be okay. But they need to at least give us the option of a satisfactory ending for Shepard and Ashley. Going down in flames together is romantic and all, but that would make me lose the will to live.:crying:

As dramatic as a "Together in Death" ending is, I want them to be together and alive. They deserve it after everything that happened. And baby Shepleys, you hear me Bioware?!

Aye, heroes should get to enjoy the fruits of their labors every once in a while. (Yes, I do realize how that sounded. It was not entirely unintentional.;))

I agree - an ending doesn't have to be tragic to be powerful and satisfying.  IMO, killing everyone off is a total cop-out.  Shepard so much as says that he wants to settle down and pop out kids (ok - he says he doesn't want to keep being Galaxy Cop forever, but that's my inference), and given Ash comes from a large family, I seriously doubt she'd raise objections.

I would love a big sappy ending with little Shepleys running around.  And, if they do want to continue on the ME franchise, it could always be Son/Daughter of Shepard who takes up the family cause.

Yeah.  I figured, why not go on the forums again?  And so, here I am.

I really think that there should be a "blaze of glory" ending option, so that people that want that to happen can have it happen, but I also want there to be a happy ending option.  After all, Bioware did say they could let all the plot strings from the first and second games go all over the place depending on your decisions. id go with a happy ending for ash and my shep.i like happy endings.sometimes its so unnessicary for the hero to die, or for the heros girl friend too die.sometimes a nice fade out with the two embracing is a good  way too end things.

Anyway this thread needs a pic of ash.

a good ending for Shepard and Ash involve a stand off with a legion of batarian slavers...while there is no chance of escape because the ship is not working....hehe...

Damn, so... many... posts!! lol I have been lazy and had little time to check this thread.

drunken pyromaniac, I don't remember if you welcomed me, but I didn't need it as I jumped right into discussions, but thank you, though :D

To be honest, I've given up deciding what I would WANT for an appropriate ending, because you all have some good ideas, I'll have to wait and see if Bioware gives a good ending or not, which I'm sure they will but with the direction Mass Effect has been taking, you can't be sure.

Thats it for now. I have to meet up with friends in a few minutes cause I'm going with them to see Iron Maiden at 7:30 Pacific or so. I shall present another topic, because I'm thinking about it now given the awesome mood I'm in:

What music do you think Ashley likes (or would like)? I personally think she would like classic metal or at least hard rock because she has the personality for it :D.

Discuss while I rock out tonight, and hopefully I'm not too tired to check this at like 3 in the morning!

This movement rocks so much it needs the devil horns

Oh my gosh, THANK YOU! This is so, SOOOO true!

On the subject of Ash and Shep starting a family, I think that definitely neither are opposed to it, but Ash would most likely place clearing her existing family name above starting her own. To my mind, this is the be-all and end-all of Ashley Williams. I don't think she'd want to have to raise her kids to be that "special kind of thick-headed" that she had to be just to get by under the stigma of the Williams family name. Of course, it's entirely plausible that if she had kids with Shepard, Shep's heroic legacy would negate the ill will towards the Williams somewhat.

My point is that I think Ashley would want to get her grandfather's name exonerated before she'd allow herself to settle down.

Shepard [Persuade]: "Think of it Ash, little You and Me´s running around."
Ash: :SQUEAAAA:

I think after ME3 everyone wants to be called Shepard and Williams, like the people that saved every lifeform in the galaxy. Again.B)

Options, yes! If "Blaze of Glory" is a possible ending but so is "Flying Off Into the Nebula (i.e. sunset)" then I will be satisfied. Some people go for gut-wrenching drama that only massive character death can provide, but I am not one of them. It seems the whole point of RPG's is to let players play the way they want, anyway. I would hate it if they forced a tragic ending on us. I want Ashley to laugh at my Shepard's corny one-liners for a long time to come, darn it!

I doubt Bioware will force a tragic ending on us too. Seeing that both ME1 and ME2 ended with a "what are you willing to sacrifice" kind of moral decision, there will always be some kind of control on the ending.

I think there will be a few endings, and judging by all there other games Bioware wont be too harsh. For a tragic ending i think we would have to intentionally try and get a tragic ending. In ME2 it was harder to get your whole squad and Shepard killed than it was to get everyone out alive.

You know, I think Ash would like mostly classical stuff (given her love of poetry I find this highly likely). Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Bach, composers like that. BUT, I have a feeling she has one or two guilty pleasures in the realm of classic heavy metal, perhaps a hold-over from her teenage years. I'm thinking something by Metallica. Maybe one album's worth of heavy metal that she listens to from time to time, when she has a hankering for it. Otherwise, I think she's a classical girl.

I honestly think she like techno and all that stuff judging by her dancing in Flux, she seems like a party girl when she aint on duty. But she may like classical ect other stuff when she is at home. But i suppose in some way her character can make her like any sort of music, she might like any sort of music. One dosent have to confine themselves to just one genre of music. Also in that year there is bound to be new different genres there arent today, Ash may like something we have never heard of.

This is true. Musical tastes usually run a spectrum, and you're right, Ash does seem to have a bit of a party girl in her, so she obviously doesn't hate techno.
