That's why I think Eliza. She hasn't played a soldier as far I know, but Faith strikes me as a character having important Ash-like qualities. A tough girl, but the tougher she got, the more vulnerable and the more you went along with her.

That's a good point, Yiff.  I think she did a great job with Dollhouse, too, and coming to reconcile Echo with Caroline (not sure if you've ever seen it).  It's a similar sort of transformation that Ash goes through when she warms up to Shepard - slowly learning/revealing more of herself to the audience.

if ashley isnt LI of the film then i highly doubt the writers/directer would take the time to explore her charecter for the audiance the way it was explored in the game.

So far my picks are

1:mila kunis
2:Eliza Dushku
3:Alexa Davalos

wouldnt mind seeing these three portraying ash.but there are still alot talented actress's out there.anyone who can pull it off will be ace's in my book.

i vote for the second option....never heard of Alexa Davalos and Kunis couldn't act her way out of a paper bag...she would ruin Ash...seen most of her movies and she is not good at all

But whatever actress they choose - if Ashley is included in the ME movie, I hope the script does some justice to her character. I'd hate to see her being reverted to nothing more than a girl with a gun. Give me poetry or give me death! (apologies to Patrick Henry) :D

oh HEEEELLLLL no!!! I wouldn't be surprised if Hollywood went this route with the Mass Effect movie, but this would be a slap in the face to Ash and Ash-fans everywhere! All Megan Fox has going for her is looks. She has almost no acting ability (Her Transformers role seemed like it was modified for her personality, and hearing her accent in the previews of "Jonah Hex" is atrocious). We need someone who can play ALL major aspects of Ash, and I'd rather have someone who didn't look like Ash but could play her personality rather than a look-a-like who is just flat.

Honestly I think the movie will have no chance if it is based on any of the games, and chances are I will refuse to see it if thats the case, but since we're talking about actresses to play the part, heres my input:

I think Mila Kunis has been one of the best mentions (I'm not a fan of Michelle Rodriguez's extremely flat acting, Summer Glau doesn't really fit the part so it would be a major stretch, and I don't really know the others well). I say Mila Kunis because if anyone saw "Book of Eli," She wasn't even billed, and I was surprised to see her, and see how well she did with her role. Her character is defiant all the way through the movie, and becomes a badass in the end of the movie.

NOTICE:Ladies and gentlemen of the thread, althougth this Topic is rather fun and intersting i am getting worried over the lack of ash in it.if we could bring it back More to in depth dissscusions of WHY the actors we have chosen would be good as ash and have less posting of just pictures and names To avoid it beeing seen as SPAM and a possiable lock.

Thank you.

point taken, ashlover. I've only "quoted" other pictures to emphasize my points, but I'll make sure I don't do that as much in the future.

I hate to suggest that any particular region produces overall natural/better actors, but if it came down to it, Ash may have to be cast by an unknown from either the U.K. or Australia, since they tend to produce great actors/actresses who can do good American accents. I mean, I don't even think I need to make a list to prove my point; I, having studied several styles and methods of acting, can pretty much say its a given. I'm not saying that there are not ANY good actors from other regions; I'm saying if you gathered all the best actors and actresses past and present, that the majority came from U.K. or Australia

So thats probably my final answer on an Ash casting: Either Mila Kunis or a UK/Australia unknown actress.

An unknown actress would have to deal with less pro/anti bias based on her previous record. As long as she were good, I would prefer this over the casting of any well-known actress.

Megan Fox? For the love of all that is good and right in this world, please no Bioware. She's a terrible actress and should remain firmly in roles that require only a pretty face.

Here is a pic to clear the palette.

I vote no to Michelle R. She dies in every movie.

For that reason alone, I don't want her anywhere near Ahsley's character. It's too risky to run the Virmire scene with her in it because with her luck, Ash will end up dead.

I also vote no to Mila Kunis. She's not a bad actress but she's too short to play Ashley.

I would cast my vote for an unknown or for Jessica Biel (if her hair were coloured to match Ashley)

And imo Shepard should be played by Gerard Butler.

Yeah, homie, I see what you mean - but I think the actress needs to have a balance of toughness and softness. I mean, depending on who it is, the whole Tennyson thing could seem laughable. I think Summer Glau did a great job of balancing that in TSCC. But, okay... Mila could do that as well.

mila dosnt have to be the universale chocie for me,if some one posts an actress and explains why theyed think shed be better i could be persuaded to change my mind.in the case of summer shes another great actress and very beatiful aswell its just she dosnt really look like ash that much, and ive never really seen her do hardcore marine before.even in TSCC she was an odd cyborg more than a battle hardended soldier.now she dose something in the near future that  resembles ashleys charecter and dose a good job my mind could be changed.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree that Summer Glau could do a good job as Ashley. Shorten the hair and put it in a bun and give her the right armor and then have her toughen up a fair bit and then she'd make a pretty good Ashley.

Incidentaly, bit off topic but I actually just had my photo taken with Miss. Glau at Supanova (a pop culture convention) just today so it's kind of ironic that I know bump into people discussing whether or not she would make a good portrayal of my favourite female character in Mass Effect.

EDIT: That said I think that she COULD do a good job but right now that's just potential, to be honest I don't really like to think about casting for a Mass Effect movie because I'm kind of in that camp of people who aren't really sold on the idea of a Mass Effect movie.
Still, that's drifting off topic so I won't mention it.

not fair..i want a picture with Summer too...biggest Summer fan in my country speaking here...:D....
anyway...as much as i like SUmmer..i don't think she will fit Ashley...not the type of character she usually play...even though Summer could recite poetry and make it look good while shooting people...hmm...ok i am seeing a pattern here but still i would preffer someone with more latin look cause for me..despite the name..Ash is of latin origin(maybe we should find another name for it...latin origin makes me think of the ROman EMpire)
