to revert this movie topic back to ashley.as long as shes the LI and isnt killed on vimire i dont care if the movie is a bomb or succes.they need to stop makeing video game adaptions anyway.they never turn out good movies.

hopefuly if there gonna re-write something dont kill either kaidan, ashley or wrex on virmire.even if they re-write stuff this movie just inst gonna work bioware can barely put togther a decent seqaul for the games with all the descion makeing crap and varying player playthroughs.

Just the simple descion of makeing shep a male (which we kno they will do) will ****** off half the fan-base who support fem shep and will turn them off from watching the movie.not to mention all the other player prefrance choices that make just thinking about doing a movie a diffacult feat. The movie will be marketed to the average movie goer like all video game adations are for the simple fact that this movie is being made for MONEY and not to please us fans of the video game franchise.

Now so as to get this rant of mine back on topic.i think we need to deal with the very real possiablity that ashley will in one way or another be cut out of this film.either cut out completely or cut down in her on screen appearnce,i belive one of these two outcomes will occur with ashley.since the average movie viwer would much rather see blue boobs over tan boobs (espicaily since avatar is such a big hit and everyone is going absolutley ape **** for blue ppl) expect liara to be the main LI for shep.
(this isnt meant to insult liara.its just meant to show that the average person would be more intersted in liara
than ashley beacuz liara is an alien)

In the end all i really care about is how ashleys charecter will be handled in this film, the rest of the film means nothing to me i already kno how it will start and will kno how it will end i have played the game.i hope ashley gets an accurate portrayal but it is very unlikely.

anyway end rant.

@Nightodie Not a problem. Spend most of the time in the off topic thread. Link is on the OP for those that don't know. Someone can be found there most of the time.

Sorry guys.

It's cool, at least he isn't outright insulting us.

Also, hi, new guy speaking.

On topic:

I would still say Michele Rodriguez because she is very convincingly tough looking while also still being quite attractive. Biel could pull it off but she just comes across as quite fragile, to be fair though she has shown herself to give a strong presence in some movies so maybe she could still do a good job.
But personally I'd say Michelle.

You took the words right out of my mouth. If you took Michele Rodriguez's has played many characters similar to Ash.

Yeah, that's my primary concern too. I still personally think that Ashley was the best written romance in, well, the entire series so far given that there was proper chemistry and characterisation added to her that made it a joy to watch unfold and given that it perfectly intergrated into the plot (beginning at the end of Eden Prime and ending at the beginning of Ilos) but that the movie would either over simplify it to the extreme in order to fit it in or just use Liara given that she's a hot blue alien.
Wishing no offence to any Liara fans out there but as much as I liked her character I found the romance itself to be kind of lacking, at least when compared to how much I liked Ashley's.

So yeah, I agree with you that I'm concerned that they would either undercharacterise Ashley in the romance or just skip out altogether and go for Liara (or more likely Tali) as the romance. While that wouldn't bother me too much in and of itself (I still like Liara and Tali) it would certainly annoy me because I still think Ashley was the best.

I would be very surprised if Bioware actually wrote in a romance for the movie. It would be quite an undertaking to add in a romance subplot along with the whole main reapers plot. And I'm not sure if they would have time to deal with something like this in a 1.5 to 2 hr movie.

Knowing Hollywood that would usually translate to a gratuitous sex scene, still if the actress looked perfectly like Ash then maybe I wouldn't complain about that too much....

Anyway I feel things are getting a wee bit off topic here so I'll try once again to invoke more Ash related conversation. Namely:

How much do you reckon Ashley's personality may have changed since Mass Effect 1? After all in her email to Shepard she noted that she had changed a little bit from who she was from before and I wonder in what way.

Personally I like to think that if she was influenced right, that she's gotten over her slight grudge towards aliens and that maybe she's become even more tough and more determined as a military leader than she was before. But that's just my theory.

*sigh*

Yeah well, thanks for keeping us informed. We all really needed to hear that.<_<

For the record, Ashley doesn't 'dump' Shepard, yes she leaves in confusion but given the emotion of the situation I find that understandable. Later on she send an email apologising for what she said and expresses a hope to rebuild the relationship.
I don't blame you if you would rather go with someone else (for plot's sake anyway) but I don't condone unwarranted hate posts on this thread either.

Admittedly though, in hindsight I appreciate the bump back to the top of the page. :o

Yeah, you best be on your way son...

Incidently I apologise if I seemed a bit rude, it just kind of irritiates me when people make hate posts in threads based on the positive aspects of a certain topic.

@V-rex exactly i agree ashleys romance was the best and the most fun to watch. The romance with ashley is the best in Mass effect beacuz it EVOLVED,it went from initial intrest from both sides into the whole process's of geeting to kno each other over a period of time. Then finaly stateing their wish to be togther and then lastly sex.

No offense to any fans of other charecters but not one other single romance as far as i could tell went through that level of development in ME1 or ME2.Basicly liara totaly falls in love with sheprad the moment she hears "PROTHEAN BEACON" Tali was supposidly was developing a huge crush on shepard according to ME2 but in ME1 that wasnt the case beacuz Tali never showed any interest in that way at all or atleast didnt realize it until shepard was already DEAD.

Not to mention all the other romances revolve soley around SEX.....ashley and shep barley even talk about sex in any of their dialogues. This is basicly how the other romance play out.

Shepard:So tell me about your self?

Non-ashley LI:Oh well you know,Blah blah,Blah.

Shepard:uh-huh.....yea.....Say, do you want to sleep with me?

Non-ashley LI:Well yes but.....i dont want to seem cheap or easy so lets wait until a few hours before the final mission ok.

Shepard:awwww man......(SIGH) alright fine.....so you were telling me about your evil father or something like that.

again no offense to the other LI charecters but thats WAAAY to easy a few dialogues and then all they talk about is sex.anyway back to ashley and her role in the movie i think we all kno what will happen she will most likely be cut out or cut down to give liara or maybe tali the romance sub-plot.

one thing is for sure their will be a romance plot every summer blockbuster or action flick has a romance sub-plot thats just an always ppl want to see tension in a film between a man and a woman sexual or otherwise but expect to go to either liara or tali. which is ironic beacuz ME1 is supposed to ashley's time to shine she was one of the main charecters.

I definitely think that she's matured a lot between ME1 and ME2 - and, though it's trite, she appears to have gotten more "in touch with her feelings."  Coming right out and telling Shepard that she loved him?  I doubt ME1 Ash would have done that.  Also, she - though angry - was in control and didn't start screaming or carrying on in any highly emotional fashion; compare that to how she reacted to the Terra Firma protestors.  She seemed a lot more 'adult' to me on Horizon than in ME1, and I like that, but I hope she hasn't lost that fun and sarcastic edge to her either.

Yeah, likewise I hope that. She does seem to be quite mature now but hopefully the spark is still there for Mass Effect 3.:D

Also I hope that despite her resolute toughened attitude she still retains a little bit, not too much, but just a little bit of a soft spot, just like she had before.

I don't know, there is just so little interaction in ME2, its really hard to tell what she has changed into. For all we know losing shepard could have send her off in the opposite direction and became more bitter. Do you guys she may have moved on and dated other people? I know in Kaidan's case he was going out with someone else. We all talked about how shepard can shack up with someone else in the second game, but couldn't Ash have been dating someone when she thought Shepard died?

For that matter, why didn't Liara tell her or anyone else that Shepard is being rebuilt by Cerbrus. I mean especially if she knows Ash and Shepard are together, she should have told Shepard's gf. I never read the comic so I am not sure, but maybe people who read it can answer it.

i like to think that ashley was to hurt by shepards death to date someone else i mean it looked like it hurt her bad,i mean shepard wanst some random guy she slept with for fun she loved him, loseing some one you love dosnt go away you accept it but you dont get over it..

as for the liara not telling sheps LI that he could come back basicly comes down to bad writing or omision take your pick.Either way its obvious the devs were way more intersted in creating the New charecters and story for ME2 than to bother with the lilttle things like that for the old sqaudmates .Or if you want a third option you could say that liara dosnt really have faith in cerberous's plan to bring someone back from the dead (it is rather far-fetched) and problay thought it would just ****** off or hurt ashley even more with false hope.Or you could say that with liara's obviuous charecter change from sweetheart to cold blooded woman consumed by vengance that she could careless about ashleys pain and felt it moe important to look for her missing friend feron than to waste time make ashley feel better.

I am sure that soft spot is still there, she's just had to bury it deeper than ever before. Silver also made a good point about Ashley getting 'more in touch with her feelings'. I agree there is a marked difference in the way she reacted in highly emotional situations in Mass Effect 1 as opposed to Mass Effect 2. Instead of flying off the handle at Shepard, she gets really cool and ominous. I definitely think she's taken the experiences of ME1 and molded herself to meet higher self-expectations (i.e. flying off the handle less often).
