I love that idea, i read it in Silver fanfic where Ash spots her picture on Shepards desk and Shepard tells her how much the woman in that pic means to him (like it aint Ash standing there with him lol) I realy wish something like that comes up.

If Shepard cheated....ummm im not sure, she could end up on a mission and meeting with Shepard and notice a kiss from his new LI. That would start a fire, but Ash may hold it in for the mission, and when alone with Shepard a nice uppercut knocking Shepard on his ass, and walking out. lol.

LZ approves of picture-noticing!B) In fact, I think Ashley seeing her picture standing proudly on Shepard's desk through everything that happened between them would be a much better way for her to realize that Shepard has been faithful all along than for Shepard to simply say he has been. (You can even turn it around and apply this to an unfaithful Shepard at the other end.) Mind what people do, rather than what they say. To borrow from Psychology 101, the silent act of having a picture of someone on your desk can be seen as a silent statement directly from the heart (okay, it's right-brain, or something like that, but I'm paraphrasing, ya heathens!). Granted this would have to be some situation in which she could conclude that her picture had always been there and he didn't just put it there for her benefit.

The picture on the desk is very significant, and I think Ash would immediately recognize it's significance.

Yeah, I agree. She'd probably be deeply moved at least that Shepard would hold onto a picture of her despite everything that has happened.

This.

A) Because it mentions my fic (loooove you, Funk!) ;)

B) Because if the picture is not used as an actual plot point, it becomes nothing but a gameplay mechanic - and there is SO MUCH POTENTIAL there.  Face up: Shep loves me.  Face down: Shep loves me not.  It would be so telling in any reunion circumstance, and I really hope BioWare can incorporate it.

I thought Ash just laughed at typically romantic gestures? So I could see some teasing of poor shep going on for it as well. I really hope cheating isint catastrophic to the game though, likewise if it gets reduced to an email then Bioware will lose a lot of respect from me.

Ash does tend to laugh at corny romance dialogues, but she will be serious if seriousness is required. I've a feeling that players who cheated will be given a chance to explain away their disloyalty (there it is, I just don't think Bioware won't let unfaithful Shepards have Ash back), just because this is an RPG. I'm predicting undamaging and easily rectifiable consequences for disloyal Shepards, even though they deserve far worse.

Since they won't be bringing back any of the old squad mates, I don't think there is going to be much of a problem between old and new(er) love interests.

Ashley and Kaidan walked into a bar.

Shepard left Ashley behind and set off a tactical nuke.

Make a joke about Tali getting a rocket in the face in the Tali thread.
HINT: their attacks will tear you apart.

Okay, folks, let's bring it back to dat Ash.

*pulls out topic list*

So, while on the topic of the picture: Where, when and how do you think that picture Shepard has of Ashley in ME2 was taken?

What about the supposed consequences that the developer's throw out there whenever anyone brings up the topic of cheating? They say that if the only difference between cheating and staying loyal

@methodactor, the interaction between squad members are few and far between, I think it's vague enough that you can interpret their relationships from purely professional to bffs.

Eden Prime. Right before I yelled at her for abandoning her unit.

But seriously, possibly earth on a little R&R after the whole attack on the Citadel debacle?

No, she's wearing armor.

Virmire? Before I sent her with Captain salamander?

This may be one of the greater Ashley mysteries.

Ah yes "CONSEQUENCES" the supposed effects that choices will have through the Mass Effect trilogy, ah we have reduced those to emails.

Yeah I hated him too. As a result of the attack on the Citadel, he is now space dust.

I agree with the random side mission.

Here's how I picture it -

Shep: "Ash, c'mon, just smile!"

Ash: "No! Why do you want a picture of me? You don't want one of Garrus or Tali or Wrex!"

Shep: "Please? For me? Hey ... why'd you leave out Liara?"

Ash: "No pictures! ... So, you have one of Liara?"

Shep: "Come on, Ash ... it's just a picture! It's not that bad."

Ash: "I. Said. NO."

Shepard takes picture while she's grouchy and looking slightly away from him.

Ash: "What the hell was that?!"

Shep: "Lightning. Wow! Storm must be coming .... let's, umm, go back to the ship.... Now...."

I guess sometime just after ME1, like a week after or something. Most likely on the SR1, just after cleaning up some Geth, mercs or pirates.

No, you got it all wrong.
Putting her photo on Shepards desk was one of the two operations Cerberus ever completed successfully. It went a little something like this:
As we all know Cerberus knew about the importance of Shepard for the future of humanity and therefore kept an eye on him. (as told in the ME2 intro) How best to do that? With an agent aboard the Normandy. And eventually he noticed that there was something going on between Shepard and a certan Gunnery Chief. (small ship, thin walls and so on). In his reports he mentioned those findings to Cerberus (probably Miranda as she was responsible for this op). Now after Shepards semi successful reanimation (that´s the second successful op ever for cerberus) Miranda thought about ways to make this new life a bit easier for Shepard and help him with his mental stability. After going through all the old reports she had about him, she had a brilliant idea. Why not show him something he valued a lot and would willingly want to fight for? And so she went ahead and took a photo from Ashleys military file, put it into a frame and placed it on Shepards desk.

Evidence that supports this theory:
-not a lot
-she does not (really) smile and it just doesn´t look like it was taken in private
-It would fit Mirandas and Cerberus´ calculating trait

Shepard: Whoa! Ash check out that shifty looking cow!

Ash: Where? *swivels head around*

*Shepard snaps picture*

Ash: What the hell was that?

Shepard: [LIE] Taking a picture of the cow, it's gonna get so many hits on the extranet.

--That night in Shepard's Cabin--

Ash: Oh, Shepard...

*Flash from corner of room*

Ash: Ok you have got to be kidding me!

Shepard: What's the big deal? It's just a picture of a . . .

Ash: NO! STOP! I swear to god if you call me a cow I'll rip it off and throw it out the airlock.

Shepard: Fine. Fine. I'll delete it and just frame the picture from earlier. Oh s**t.

Ash: So it was of me! You lying bastard!

*Ash throws on some clothes and storms out*

*Shepard tripping while throwing on pants in an attempt to follow*

Shepard: Ash, wait! I need it for the new Normandy!

*Liara comes out of nowhere and steps in front of Shepard*

Liara: Shepard, I can't help but feeling there is an attraction between us.

Shepard: Wait, what? How the hell? We just pulled you out of those Prothean ruins like a week ago. I don't even know you.

Liara: I'm so embarrassed.

*Liara storms off crying*

*Shepard heads down the elevator to the engine level and approaches Ashley*

Ash: Commander.

Shepard: Do you, uh, want to talk about this?

Ash: I'm sorry, Commander, I need to get my duties squared away. I wouldn't mind talking more later though.

Shepard: Wait, so you have nothing to say? Even after the whole mysterious flash in the dark room? Plus, it's the middle of the night what duties do you have right now?

Ash: I'm sorry, Commander, I need to get my duties squared away. I wouldn't mind talking more later though.

Shepard: Are you feeling ok? Did you forget to fan out the elevator after Wrex used it again?

Ash: I'm sorry, Commander, I need to get my duties squared away. I wouldn't mind talking more later though.

Shepard: Ok, well I'm gonna go then, I guess. Maybe we should just go ahead and talk about this later.

Ash: Looking foward to it, skipper.

*As Shepard heads toward the elevator it opens and the Turian council member invites him in*

Turian councilman: Shepard, I wanted to apologize for my cynicism towards you and the entire human race.

Shepard: Oh s**t, I'm dreaming.

*Shepard wakes up on the floor of his quarters of the Normandy SR2 with an empty Hallex bottle next to him*

Samara: Shepard, are you alright? I was worried your interactions with my daughter would have negative effects on your mind.

Shepard: Yeah, I think I'm ok. It's just been a long night.

Samara: I wanted to thank you again for helping me.

Shepard: I was happy to help. That daughter of yours was into some crazy s**t.

I went with sniper rifle. It really comes down to a matter of preference. I just enjoy using snipers, AR would probably be a better all-around pick if you're min/maxing.
