Hey, thats awesome that there's a song thread in the ME3 squadmember group. Can I please have a link, though? I couldn't find it anywhere in the group so thats why I'm asking. Also I apologize if this is considered off-topic, but an Ash/Shep song thread really interests me, so I'd like to contribute my ideas to that :D

It's a little late, but... the song thread is here: http://social.biowar...iscussion/8039/.

Come one, come all!  Join us for our regularly-scheduled off-topicness or other random Ash-related things that might not fit the discussion-nature of the support thread (including fan art and fanfics, the actress discussion in the ME movie, and other things)!  Don't be afraid to bump old topics.

Also, thanks for the bumps, Night!  We appreciate the support from our friends at the KAST/KAAS.  Image IPB

It never ceases to amaze me how pretty she is underneath all that toughness. She's one of the few game women who seem able to pull off that 'beautiful in a strong way' look. Thanks for the picture by the way, once again great to see some support from the Kaidan thread.

Okay, so in the interest of keeping this thread staying the course, here is a new topic to talk about, note this may have been done before but still I'm new:

Which do you think was your favourite conversation with Ashley aboard the Normandy? And why?

Was it the one where she and Shepard first started getting acquainted, or the one where she first mentions her family or the one where she mentions her father's love of poetry and ultimatley about her religious beliefs or even the one where she explains why she has a few grudges against the Council or indeed the last two strictly romance dialouges.

Personally, I liked the one where she talked about her grandfather and the first contact war simply because it was here that Shepard could actually turn her views around and in turn help her to change her worldview for the better. It was well done and it really was good for characterisation.

@V-rex: If you're ever curious about what's been discussed before and when, there's a topic list on the ME3 Squadmember group discussion board. This isn't on there, though, and since I am the Keeper of the List, I'll add it - it's a good one.

Now, to answer... I'm a sucker for the conversation right before the pre-Ilos whoopie. The little 'O captain, my captain,' the admission that 'you make me feel good enough' ... it's all just so well-done and incredibly touching. You know that's a side of Ash that privilieged few have had a chance to see, and it adds so much intimacy to the relationship even before the real intimate stuff begins.

I agree with that too, honestly I thought the dialouge was just as if not more emotional than the actual sex scene itself. It was nice having a final well done conversation before the love scene was intiated and it was a shame (from what I saw on youtube anyway) that in Mass Effect 2 it was pretty much reduced to single sentance replies from Shepard that either intiate or uninitiate the romance scene. I much preferred the conversations and Ash's was by far the best, mixing emotion with that little bit of playful spark that she was known for.

This is one of those statements that can go either way in terms of your intent, but I generally try to be open-minded with new posters (generally), and don't think I've seen you around here before ... So, welcome! Image IPB

I'm not a fan, personally, of the 'killing Wrex' mechanic - but that's what happens when you tell a marine to stand-by and you threaten her commander!    I can't blame Ashley for doing it, given the circumstances, but I do have mixed feelings regarding the game's reaction to it. Image IPB

My favorite Ashley conversation is the Sarah Vid mail one. You can talk about her sisters , dad , mom and grandfather. Ash going home to walk Sarah to school. Grandfather being the commander or Shanxi. Dad being black listed. Ashes Faith, and the First time she quotes Ulysses poem. I am sure I missed something. But that convo has many topics about family, faith and Ash liking poetry. It takes what 7 or 8 minutes go through this convo. I love the deepness of this convo and the depth it give Ash.

Heck you are bound to like that 8min video when I make it and get it uploaded to Xfire, and then it gets added to the OP.

If you do Liara's mission last, Ashley says something like "When we find that asari were gonna have to tell her we killed her mom, that's gonna suck." There was a time I had Liara and Ashley in my squad in the hot labs and I tried to activate the purge without the code and Ash said something to Liara like "Sometimes you just have to rtfm" it took me a while to figure that one out, lol.

Heh, I remember hearing her "RTFM" line for the first time. It only took a second for it to register, and I laughed.

Because everyone just love's "Tinfoil skirts and thigh high boots" Guess what the new Video added to the OP is? Hint is has nothing to do with Miranda or Tali ( depending on how you look at the character)

That's really interesting - I can't remember hearing that line before (and I totally had to google 'rtfm' to figure out what it meant, and I'm definitely stealing that for the future).  Admittedly, I didn't use Liara on my squad much, so that's probably why.

Does anyone know of any other squadmate/location specific dialogue along those lines, aside from the obvious ones (i.e. tinfoil miniskirt and boomstick quotes)?  I know the ME Wiki has it up for the ME2 squadmates, but I'm not sure it chronicles the unique quotes for the ME1 characters.

It did for a while have all the elevator convos and some banter but it got taken down as it was not properly formatted, and that it was deemed uneeded. What does ash say to tali in the elevator and elsewhere though? A link would be nice folks.

Best ME1 Romance <-- Which ME1 romance do you think was best written, best paced, or best made? If you think Ashley's romance is best, why is her's better than Kaidan and Liara's?

You know what I realised not too long ago, when I saw the compilation of all the Miranda romance dialouges from the end of her loyalty mission all the way to the final scene? All those scenes put together make up about eight minutes worth of conversation, so in a very real way that one conversation with Ashley was the exact same length as the entire romance subplot with Miranda.
That's a hell of a lot of characterisation on Ashley's part.

Incidently to any Miranda fans who may be reading this, I mean no offence and certainly am not suggesting that Miranda was 'over simplified' I'm just sort of in the mindset that ultimatley in Mass Effect 1 there was a hell of a lot of characterisation in the romance dialouges.

So yeah, I agree... loved that conversation, it felt very much like I was talking to a real person.

Hmmm for some reason it seems to not be registering my votes and it won't let me even comment on it. I wonder if there's something I have to register first or if my net connection is slow.

Still great for conversation so I obviously picked Ashley, largely I think the reason it that she and Shepard have a chance meeting on Eden Prime that then begins a slow journey to two people becoming friends then slowly falling in love but what made hers better than Liara's (at least in my own opinion) was that she never simply 'announced' that she had feelings for Shepard at least until the very end, rather their feelings were kept hidden for the most part as they had conversations and started to get to know each other. Save for occassional moments of playful flirtation and emotional moments.
Point is, it began on Eden Prime and ended just before Ilos so overall it paints a picture of a gradually developed romance and of course in the conversations Shepard can clearly influence some of Ashley's worldviews and make her see things in a different way so there's an element of positive character development thrown in too. It just felt like two people were having conversations, not necessarily always agreeing with each other but still unmistakably developing feelings for each other.

With the meeting on Eden Prime, I feel that this was really the 'intended' romance as Ashley was also prominently featured in the promotional videos for the first game alongside Garrus. I have respect for those that like to play as FemShep but it always seemed like this game was made for a male Shepard and therefore Ashley from the beginning seemed to be the one in mind as the romance, slowly developing feelings for Shepard over the course of the story.
Plus out of all of the romance scenes, I liked Ash's the most because unlike so many others where it's confident Shepard winning them over, this time it's Ashley encouraging the confused and uncertain Commander Shepard that he's doing the right thing. This is a contrast to say Liara's where she is clearly nervous about sharing an intimate moment with Shepard and Shepard has to snap out of it to be gentle and encouraging to her.

Liara kinda lacked the same chemistry and like I said before, rather than have her develop feelings for Shepard in conversation they resort instead to having her just sort of announce feelings for him/her and after that there's no real build up or character development to speak of. Still that's just my assessment and I can certainly see why a lot of people like Liara as she is certainly interesting but for me at least I thought the writing was best done on Ashley.

... Wow, I really can go on a bit can't I?

My favorite Ash conversation is actually the locker scene. It's the one moment in the game when Shepard is truly vulnerable and really needs a pep talk. And Ash delivers as kind of his only support system in the game in that moment.

Also, I've never heard the "rtfm" quote and now I'm sad. Because that would have made me giggle. :)

So who's everyones favorite Williams sister aside from Ashley? Abby, Lynn, Sarah? Based on what little I know about them Sarah sounds like a cool, kickass teenage girl.. any young woman who can topple her boyfriend into the ground and look cool doing it gets my vote... so I guess I'd say she's my fav. :P Plus she does Aikido, which one of my friends practices, or used to.

Agree. I had written a long post in response, but my browser fritzed out and I lost it all.
