Also she comes from a big family , at least by some standards. So have to be a bit social there I think. She seems to love sharing and talking to my Shep and my Shep loves that. Would she hang out on the Mass Effect version of twitter, friend feed? I don't think so. Would she hang here? While that might be fun for us, kinda creepy for her. So I say no. But she isn't anti social.

I think it's a mix of both. I think she's social in the respect that she likes the hustle and activity of the Wards and Flux, probably has a lot of acquantainces and gets along with others fairly well ... but she also doesn't seem to have a lot of good friends and people that are close to her, except for family. I imagine her being generally good in group settings but awkward and anti-social one-on-one (as you kind of see with Shep once she stops relying on the military rank & behavioral norms).

also she has a problem conveying her true feelings with words.that could be considerd a personality disorder, depends on your views however.

i agree with liams assesment, but i secretly want her too be anti-social *COUGH*becuz i am *COUGH* i wonder she partys alot.if shes anti-social then most likely she dosnt, and woud feel very uncomfortable around too may ppl in a club.what do you guyz think???

She might like crowds and action. If you remember her reaction to the wards on the citadel. Hopefully I quote it right.
"Forget the presidium this is where the action is". She seems excited. I don't know that crowds bother her. She will tell you what she thinks and can be harse sometimes. But I look at her this way    she can be friendly, it takes time to be her friend.   If that makes sense.

Great point.  She's very guarded and cautious around new people - probably stemming from her family's legacy.  I bet that the popular opinion of General Williams certainly didn't help her 'win friends and influence people' both in civilian life & in the military.

If that's a personality disorder, then every man, woman, and child on God's green earth has it.;)

Liam is right. Ash isn't antisocial, certainly not clinically speaking, but she's not really a socialite either. She's too job-focused to devote a whole lot of time to the ins and outs of social circles, but she could definitely hold her own in one.

BUT back too the topic at hand......i dont belive thats shes full fledged A-S but i think she prob lacks in the social skills department example
that terra firma guy "we have a back log a grivenceses that the aliens have ignored starting with shanxi" ash "were you at shanxi???if not then shut your pie hole"!!! as you can see not very tactful....but hey shes still awsome Image IPB

Ash telling people off is one of the things I like about her.

Where was the smack up along side the head interrupt for Udina and the terra firma guy? I guess that is why we have Ash.

I think that Terra Firma guy needed it.

I'm not sure about that as evidence of improperly developed social skills, though, as that is about the touchiest subject in the Williams family book, social skills or no I think Mr. Saracino would've gotten what was coming to him.

But your conjecture does put an interesting spin on Ashley's elevator dialogue with the other squadmates. Perhaps this can be seen as Ashley trying various social skills she feels aren't fully-developed or inadequate in some way. That would be the Williams thing to do even if she was a perfect socialite; "A Williams has to be better than the best, if only to avoid suspicion." I've a feeling she applies that axiom to a lot of things in her life.

dont get me wrong i love ash telling ppl off as well....when they deserve it.but the terra firma guy wasnt really a jerk or anything,he was just voiceing his oppion in a respectful manner.ash going off just made her look too emtionaly unstable.now if he was like " we cant have cowards like that genarale williams running thing in our govermnet blah blah blah rasicts remark" then i would love too see ash set him straight.

I guess her main problem is with thinking before she speaks. It leads to some great moments (i.e. the tinfoil miniskirt comment), but I think it also leads to her jumping down the throat of the Terra Firma guy.

He was voicing his opinion, yes, but I didn't get the 'respectful' part from him. He glossed over the whole thing as if it were just politics. As someone with a personal stake in what actually happened on Shanxi, Ashley had a right to call him on his insensitivity.

Which was also a great moment.

I don't think she's anti-social at all. She's a bit blunt, like a lot of military folks, but that doesn't make her anti-social. Just means she might not fit in at a black tie event.

Can you even afford to be antisocial if you're in the military? Forgive me if that's a dumb question.

Not arguing, just a thought.  People can be jerks and sound real sweet and nice. I do it. :) Ash wouldn't find anyone useing something that seems as painful to her family as Shanxi to help their politically agenda as respectful. If he had said anything bad about her grandfather directly I don't know that Shep could have pulled her off him. Just my thoughts.

true, but im not saying he was the most respectful person too comment on the issue. he was not really rude or disrepectful either. at least not too me anyway.i gues you could say her outburst/telling him off is justified, but she needs better control over emotions they tend too get the better of her from time too time.

again i agree its just that ashley couldve been a fan fav like tali and garrus (sigh )but i guess it was not meant too be.anyway back on topic so atleast we all agree that ashley may not be anti-soacil,but she dose however lack soacil skills outside of her work enviroment.

I was just using Jack for comparative purposes; that is, her similarity to Ashley in terms of having strong attitudes.
