Ok, many people have probably done this before, but I only found this out about a few months or so ago and I think its great fun!
So on to the point of this, by adding a few high explosive rounds on your shotgun (other upgrades like scram rail work too and are perhaps better) you can turn that boring old weapon into an epic hand-cannon of destruction. When testing this out my first time on a Geth Destroyer I litteraly laughed out loud as it nearly killed it in one shot and my squad finished him in a second.
The greatest thing about it is the feeling of invulnerability it gives you, specific enemies cease being annoying or dull to fight when you jump right into their face and blow their brains out in one hit, and I believe that feeling is lost in ME2
(though the Claymore + Power Charge is similar in fun potential).

Discuss as well as enjoy, and always remember there is nothing as great as a long walk on the beach blasting bad guys with your boomstick.

I loved that in ME1 - best shotgun in game, with mini nades and two rail extensions. One shot overheated this thing, but sight of enemies flying in the air and burning, dying after one shot - priceless.

I miss it.

Cain? One shot, and a lot of time to find boxes with ammo. Useless for other things than derelict reaper core and human reaper.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the Cain. It's fun but the low shot count, fair as it may be, quite lower its potential for entertainment. And I hear ya fun times xD. Oh and to the second poster, as said above Claymore charge-headshots are ridiculously fun as well but harder to pull off :P.

I love shotguns in ME, but how the hell does Carnage power work? I keep missing each time I shoot a carnage round. Doesn't it spread or something?

Carnage is the closest thing to a rocket launcher in ME1. you can hit stationary targets; or anticipate your targets movement, track it, & fire ahead of it.

Yeah but the range is 3m or so right? Isn't that point blank? I don't know how Carnage modifies a regular shotgun shot though, aside from damage increase. I thought it increases the spread.

"Master Carnage

Inflicts weapon damage +150% within 3 m of its impact point.
Recharge Time: 45s.
Accuracy Cost: 40%. "

3 meters is the *optimal* range, I think. I remember nailing a geth shock troop from way more than 3 meters. Just practice your timing.

Or maybe it could mean carnage makes it like an HE round, where it explodes and damages anything 3m away from where it hits. Idk

That being a more or less exact reading of the text, I'd say it's likely.

The 3 m is the area of effect not the range of the shot for carnage.

Or just use the Master Spectre shotgun with frictionless materials X and no matter the difficulty, anything can be overcome by slowly walking forward and constantly shooting (most things drop in 2-3 hits) combined with a Renegade playthrough, it really gives the feeling that you're an unstoppable super-villain.

I used to thought the Adepts were the supervillain type. But after playing it, it seems like you'll never been up on par with a Sith Lord.

I dunno, I never saw Darth Vader lift a tank into space with only his mind. Hell, his son (who was supposedly awesome at the force) had to grimace for several minutes to get a metal handle to sort of twitch its way into his hand.

Particularly awesome with Lift and Sledghammer X Rounds. Hoisted a geth rocket trooper and shot him when he stopped rising - flew so damn far the game stopped keeping track of him, I guess "assuming" he'd left draw visible distance on TVs that aren't mine, leaving this tiny ragdolled robot hanging in mid air like a weird and far too low satellite. It didn't even "think" to delete his corpse.

Vader probably could. This is what his apprentice did.

You can get pretty much the same effect with lift+throw.
