I'm playing ME1 again, this time with BDTS (didn't have it the first time through), and I've been waiting for a quest to start the mission, but it doesn't seem to be coming up. I've haven't done Feros or Virmire yet, but I've completed Novaria and I forget the name of the one where you get Liara. Will I get a quest for BDTS, or should I just go to the asteroid and start the mission?

You HAVE to go to the asteroid to start the mission. There is no other way to acquire this assignment.

Go to Asgard system. Land on X57. It should be marked on your galaxy map to make it easy.

I am on X57 currently..have found the 3 dead bodies for another quest, but I am stumped on trying to extinguish the third torch, I've tried speed running through the detonator ring...thingie, jumping my Mako over top (nice explosion anyways 
) and sneaking around trying to find an opening to get by all the rigged detonators..to get in and extinguish that third torch. I have killed off all the gun turrets for all of them...
Just can't figure what I am doing wrong..any help?

Go in on foot. Pass between two mines at the widest point, ie go down the middle and stay as far from them as you can. Go slowly/crouch. Approach from the rear of the structure to avoid being shot at.

He's right go on foot and pay attention to the beeping and the bar. It will warn you of mine proximity. It is possible to work your way through the mines. The easiest place is from the hill behind the torch. The building and the hill will provide some cover from the turrets and baterians.

Ah well I have killed all the turrets ..so its just the Batarians and the detonators I have to worry about then. Tried from behind, but did a running jump with my Mako ..hee hee hee ..BOOM!
