Yes - those 4 RE movies and counting - its crap to you but its cash to suits.

Watch and see as info comes out - it will be about Shepard - He will be Badass (with Paragon motives) - most if not all side missions will be dropped and it will most likely be the story of ME setting up the trilogy.

You may get some scenes of TIM / Miranda / Jacob but that will be to setup future movies.

People who read Anne Rice novels and Xmen comics etc all say the same thing but how were the movies made - not for the die-hard fans.

And it will be a steaming pile of ****, just like every single other Video Game to Movie adaptation.

Here's a thought, Monica Bellucci as Benezia

Well regardless of who is acting in the movie I think we can all agree that Uwe Boll shouldn't be allowed any ware near this project.

Wrong.  If the movie is about Shepard, it won't be a Shepard the majority of the audience identifies with.  He will act out of character with the way people played him.  If he's paragon, then the renegades won't see him as Shepard, or vice versa.  Same with portraying Shepard as male as opposed to female.

Absolutely nothing involving Shepard or his crew can be involved if this movie will succeed.

Edit:  Or it'll be another crappy Video Game to movie adaptation that deviates so far from character that people that actually play the games will not enjoy.  In other words, just another piece of crap like the Resident Evil or Doom series.

I get so tired of seeing this excuse for the movie.  Did these people really not play the game more than once?  The whole game series of Mass Effect is designed for multiple playthroughs so people can see various outcomes from different choices, backgrounds and choice of gender. I have atleast 4 different Shepards myself.  Sure everyone has their favorite but there is no reason why the movie cant be viewed as one of just many various choices of a playthrough if it is indeed done to follow the main ME storyline.  Comic books and products like Star Trek are know for their parallel univerese and such.  So long as it maintains its general premise of .."Human solider Shepard, and his rag-tag team take on the rogue turian spectre Saren who is trying to unleash the Reapers on the universe"  its sticking to the basic framework of the game.  Anything on top of that is decoration.

I've cleared ME1 16 times, and Me2 10 so far.  Working on #17 of the first game now.  It doesn't mean I don't have an idea of what Shepard means to me.  I can tell you now, that if he was portrayed as a full-on Renegade character, racism and all, I would immediately be done with the movie before it even began.

Agreed (Legendary Pics)* edit - but that is the reality so it makes no sense crying about it.

As I posted in another thread - Peter Jackson (or that type of person) isnt making it so there is a concern. We dont know how much influence Bioware will have or want to exert so we dont know how it will turn out but I am sure it will be about Shep - it wont be a spinoff.
If it is then I'll have alot of crow to eat and may enjoy the movie more but I highly doubt they will do that.

If Shepard is involved in any way, I'll save my time and money and just rank this 'movie' right down there with the recent X-Men, all of the Resident Evil series, and even such awful movies as Mario and Doom.

If people are that hellbent on making the movie work, assuming it even gets that far, write a letter to the heads over at Legendary Pictures.

To the OP - My Shep would probably be Mark Wahlberg (role from Departed), Matt Damon (role from Green Zone) or Chris O'Donnell (NCIS: LA) - This would be portraying Shepard a bit older which I think vibes better than the young pup he is because Shep acts quite mature.

Like the choice of Monica Belluci but she doesnt have the voice - I think Marina Sirtis is fine.

Ashley - Gemma Arteton - once again if she could pull an American accent.

The girl from The Lovely Bones as Liara if she is old enough.

I highly doubt anyone is going to greenlight a movie like Mass Effect where the main lead would be a racist. Even if it was geared at another species of aliens. Shepard would be written to be a Paragade most likely.

Besides, if they're going to make crap movies for people that *aren't* fans of the series, they shouldn't advertise it to us.  Then again, EA's in charge now... I suppose I should stop holding BioWare to a higher standard than all the other game developers.

Jeremy Irons as Saren. He would make a great villain. Saren would fit his acting style and voice perfectly. Remember scar from the lion king? He was amazing in that picture! Every movie succeeds or fails with a villain. So, choosing a good actor to potray a villain is as important as in choosing a good actor for being a hero.

It isnt Hollywood - the suits will always screw us.

It is the directors / executive producers caring about the project to make the movies good - Peter Jackson and Weta - LOTR and Chris Nolan - Batman

I dont think Fenix can be reasoned with though because he wants a movie without the lead, he wants a movie about a different conflict in a universe that he knows but the masses dont.

You dont pay for an IP to not use it fully - anyone can go out an make a movie in the ME universe just changing Eezo to element X and Biotics to "Manifestations" but you are going to have to work hard to sell it.

Shepard: Scott Foley
Ashley: Erica Cerra
Liara: Jillian Murray

Anderson: Keith David

Joker: Seth green or Joshua Gomez

Tali, Garrus, And Wrex should be done by their voice actors.

if i had to pick...
shepard: im also going with sam worthington, best idea i've seen

ashley: Michelle Rodriguez, she'll probably **** it up, but i can't think of anyone else.

kaiden: no idea

liara: anyone ever think of just putting ali hillis in a "squid head " cap and some blue face paint?

anderson, joker, and tim could be easily played by their va's, as well any of the aliens with the right amount of cg.

For those who say Mark Vanderloo... you should go take a look at him now that he's aged and, then, see if you still agree.

I foresee the ME movie as having some kind of "message" to teach us instead of just being heroics, renegades, action, sex, plots, twists, emotions, suspense, senseless violence, mystery, brink of destruction and crap your shorts fun. People grab these IPs and use them to drive some personal morality down our throats (and we often gag on it because everything else was an afterthought, not worth including).

Edited post and sent it to the other ME movie thread.

Personally would love to see a tv show or miniseries...movie may be to big to chew.

I've tried to keep my list more down to the ground budget wise so if you go WHO? for a couple, I understand. I just wanted to avoid shouting every name in the current top ten films list. No offense to those of you that have. In fact its more likely they get picked since they need stars to hang tentpole flicks off.

Soooo, how bout...

Shepard
Dominic West
Image IPB
Known mainly for: The Wire, 300
Bonuses: Can act, has done serious as well as geek (or should that be Greek? Heh)

Ashley
Zoeey Deschaanel
Image IPB
Known mainly for: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Elf
Bonuses: Known but not expensive. Has done CGI heavy projects before. Cute but can appear without being such obvious teenboy hard-on fodder like Megan Fox etc

Garrus, Wrex, Tali, Saren
Wi'll be mainly mo-cap, costume or CGI so its pretty open

Anderson And Joker
Keith David.and Seth Green
No pic, you know what they looks like.

Kaiden
Carmine Giovinazzo
Image IPB
Known Mainly For: CSI: NY
Bonuses: Has gravel to his voice, easy on the eyes for the ladies, won't overshadow the lead in noteriety (especially since he'll likely bite it on Virmire)

Liara
Carla Gallo
Image IPB
Known Mainly For: A lot of random stuff! From The cult show Carnivale, to being the toe sucking girl in 40 year old virgin to repeat appearances on Bones, Californication and Mad Men
Bonuses: Looks freakishly young for her age so like Liara can do the young but wise thing. Seems to be game for almost anything!

Benezia
Michelle Forbes
Image IPB
Known Mainly For: True Blood, 24, Star Trek TNG
Bonuses: Older lady who still has sex appeal. (sorry Marina Sirtis! we love you really!) Has done sci-fi and fantasy.

Udina
Erick Avari
Image IPB
Known Mainly For: The Mummy, Stargate, Heroes
Bonuses: Character actor, has played official asses before, Sci fi background

THOUGHTS?
