"Our judgement must be based on facts and evidence, not guessing and wild speculation!"

Councilour Velarn is a wise turian. Considering all those turian dreadnoughts I wouldn't mess with him.

The Turians don't start threads on the borders of Terminus space, ambassador.

There had better be some actual discussion going on in this thread soon, or it will be locked for spam.

Discussion: Why the Turian is the best councilor.

The Turian councilor is the best councilor; he is better than the Asari and the Salerean combined. The Asari is too mellow, she is like a paragade. The Salarean is shifty and devious... like a sneaky renagon. The Turian knows what's up. He's strait out renegade interrupts your poorly supported claims. His dismissals are so powerful they are felt through out time and space. If the reapers are wise they will turn on their tails and float back to dark space with what is left of their dignity. Shepard is a squishy, useless, undead husk of a specter compared to the Turian councilor in his logical might. Their disagreements may seem like animosity on the surface to the untrained eye.... but underneath there lies a dark secret... Shepard and the Turian councilor are actually cohorts in an epic plot to destroy all galactic threats. The Turian will be the secret weapon to dismantle the reaper fleet and the ensuing slaughter will leave scars on the collective mind of the galaxy for thousands of generations.

Really though... I was filled with childlike glee when I heard the "Ah yes..." for the first time...

You don`t get to make demands of the Council!

Sry I had to^^

Ok lets discuss:

Try to put yourself in the position of the Council....do ya think the words of shepard would be enough to convince you?
I mean lets face it...except for the remains of some old machine, that nobody can gain some intelligence from, they have nothing to believe him actually?!

This thread is gold, why would you lock this?

Seriously though, only because of how hilarious this thread was, I joined the group. I was about to dismiss this thread, until I saw the finger quote emoticons.

In retrospect it might have been better for somebody else to have made this thread, considering that I'm kind of....an easy target, for mods....but meh. Somebody had to do it, and I'll not be ashamed to say I tried.

Still, I think far too few players give the Turian councilor enough credit. I like him because he's the most down to Earth (so to speak) and logical of them all. The Salarian councilor seems to change his opinion way too often, like the conversation when you present the evidence on Saren, he literally 5 seconds apart is like "I'm more interested in the reapers" and then "The reapers are obviously a myth". The Asari councilor seems to spend all her time trying to play moderator and stop anybody from getting mad.

The Turian councilor gets a bad rap because he doesn't pull a Captain Anderson "believe Shepard no matter what", but instead demands sound reasoning and a logical basis for any views presented to him. He strikes me as much smarter than the others.

Well the Asari Councilor is probably just for the looks...or since she is Asari...she just said "First!!1" and was onboard.

I think he actually is a Captain Anderson like person...but just the Turian Version...he probably would have believed Nhilus.

Anderson sure does dismiss some claims when some Turians speak with the council!

The point I'm trying to say is that everybody always rags on Councilor Velarn for not believing Shepard, when they're not stopping to recognize that while we the players are omniscient to the happenings of the Galaxy, no such information is actually presented to the council (Or Shepard, for that matter, at several of the meetings). He's wrong from our perspective, but that's because we know stuff he can't possibly know.

The Turian councilor is dealing with some guy who's conducting himself like a total flake, and he's reacting pretty much the same way I would. This is largely due to Shepard's bad dialogue, though, getting riled up and yelling incoherently about how Saren hates humans and never bothering to discuss the details of the beacon or what actually happened....I'm certain the Normandy has plenty of recorded scans that could confirm they saw Sovereign take off from the planet that would help, but Shepard and Udina and Anderson never bring it up.

They just yell. Alot.

I'd throw them out too.

Actually, a lot of the proof that we have about the reapers existence isn't exactly presentable evidence. Vigil on Ilos is defunct now, visions are pointless to present to a council, and Sovereign himself is destroyed. The only evidence we have is that Saren talks about the reapers a few times. It is far more believable that Sovereign was just a big Geth ship.

I agree with this. I think there is not a single line there where yelling is not involved.

Even if the did find something on Ilos i don't think they would let the public know about the reapers it would just cause panic. Maybe they do know what Sovereign was and they are studying the remains. And maybe they don't tell this to Shepard becouse they know that he/she would not keep their plans in secret.

The Council obviously know a lot more than they say they do. Their job is to keep stability and the impending doom of the reapers could cause panic. The turian Thanix Cannon could be a hint that they are making big progress. Well done Velarn, you just gave your spieces a superweapon without causing panic. Since Shepard started to work with Cerberus they certanly don't have any reason to trust him/her with anything important.

We appear to have been missed in the big character thread move, hopefully because the mods just missed this thread since it's so new and doesn't yet have a link in the "all character thread links here" thread, and not because they think it's just me screwing around again.

Going to do what I can to get it fixed.

Wait when did we find out his name?

Why do I get the feeling i'll be replied to with "Ah yes names the term used to identify an individual, we have dismissed that claim."

Some random news broadcast refers to a "Councilor Velarn", and while it doesn't specify which councilor it is, if there's only one name to go around there's only one Councilor badass enough to snatch it for himself.

And I invented the first two initials for him about a month ago.

Velarn was revealed to be the name of one of the Council members. It was already revealed that the asari is named Tevos, so people assume the Velarn is the turian. Only because "Velarn" sounds more appropriate for a turian than a salarian.
