I fully intend to call him J.P. Velarn so frequently in so many places that everybody forgets the name is purely based on speculation and Bioware has no choice but to make it real once ME3 rolls around.

We need more banners so noone can dismiss our claims that  Velarn IS the turian councilor!

Velarn does sound like a turian name. Can't imagine a Salarian with it.



But does this news broadcast appear when you let the council live or die?

It only appears if you saved the council.





Of course, if you let the Destiny Ascension get shot down, J.P. Velarn survives anyway because air is for chumps, but he's not about to let Shepard know that until after the Reapers get defeated. He's smart enough to know his sweet revenge can come later.

Wow, I just realized he only moves one finger for his Turian air quotes.  I had thought he used the two longer ones lol...  Apparently he has the strength of two fingers in that one finger... its amazing power.... and it's adorable...

I assume that's just the turian equivalent - I'm not sure air quotes aren't a gesture the Councilor decided to use just to stick it to Shepard, like his broken clock crack.



He's as turian as I'd expect, really. "Oh, Saren told you about the Reapers? Information that happens to match up with the vision you say you got from a Prothean beacon. Ignoring the fact that we don't know crap all about how Prothean data technology works so we can't accurately dismiss the information...he only said that because he's smarter than you are, human."



I fully expect to finally get to slug him in the aftermath of ME3. He's the perfect politician for his role, but that doesn't mean I don't want to spill some catharsis all over his smug dismissals.

We already know the asari's name and there was a news broadcast if you saved the council about a councilor Velarn. It sounds like a turian name not a salarian so it might as well be him.

I would love so much if the Citadel got attacked a second time in ME3 (hopefully not the conclusion again so as not to be redundant), but at some point we get to see Councilor Velarn lay down some hurt on some fools. As a Turian, he DOES have military training, you know. And I think it's entirely plausible that a leader the Turians would want as their Councilor would have been a general at sometime in the past.





How cool would it be if Shepard's going to make sure the council doesn't get killed by infiltrators, he busts into the council chambers and we see a (whatever the standard ground reaper minion in ME3 turns out to be) sneaking up behind Shepard only to get shot in the face....Camera pans to Councilor Velarn holding the gun.





That would make me happy. Very happy.

It would be cool if Velarn  had a moment of awesome in ME3 where he gunned down some enemies. 

If you decide to help the coucil with Shep you show up to see him standing over the enemy corpses and then he berates Shepard about how to do his/her job and hilarity ensues.  I guess if you go renegade and do not help them you just hear about his awesomeness second hand.

Obviously Velarn can't be killed by a exploding Destiny Ascension. No matter what we do he will be back in ME3 to save Shepard and the galaxy. And then he will be a smartass about it: "Ah yes Shepard, the "saviour of the galaxy", I have now dismissed that claim."
