Dwarfs in this game ****** me off. What's the deal with dwarfs in this game not talking like Scotty?

Really. Normal accents. I understand you're trying to make your own lore but come on. This is something that should not be changed. Dwarfs say 'Och!' and "aye" and 'cannae'. They have no use for normal expressions. Saying 'me bonny lass' yes, but not proper English. I always play a dwarf in RPG and PnP D&D. My impression of Connery is impeccable and I can call children 'wee bairns' without anyone looking at me funny. I must admit this alone caused me to quit the game. Also the fact that I got kicked out of my home town and my father sayd "good luck", really GOOD LUCK???! Where the hell is the family legacy goodybye: "Gude toidings lad o' moine, ye cannae live in thes place nae more!!" Nope they all spoke like people who took 4th grade grammar lessons and hadn't been smacked in the face with a haggis.

I want Dwarf using a freaking high country brogue you can barely understand. But yet I'm forced to comprehend all the dialog! All the other races get accents... Leliana's french vocal shading is great, I even have a guy who sounds like Inigo Montoya and a giant who's apparently from Lincoln, Nebraska but I have yet to hear anyone go "Serr, me health bar canne take much moore a'this! Oi've got nae stamina left, captain... Oi'm givin 'er awl she's got!"

Why are we forced to use English grammar as a dwarf? :(

This!

A note concerning the topic:
I've asked this myself but I didn't get any answers.

I thought it was quite refreshing with some non-stereotyping dwarves. :)

Actually, we can! I have some rope and I hear that we might be able to get about 500 Silver if we bring him in fairly intact.

If I can't get any of you to do it I'll just have to use Dog, Shale, and Morrigan.

While I would LOVE for a Scott voice for your own Dwarven characters, making all the NPC Dwarves sound scottish would make them all very similar. Voice accent is part of the character.

whats with all the people whining 'Dwarfs don't do X when they should be!' nonsense. This is a new world, they can redefine anything they want. People need to give up their love affair with D&D tropes.

Well... for one... Faerytail Dwarfs have origins in the folklore from in and around Germany.
They should be speaking with German/Dutch accents. Ja?

I disagree, I think they should have given dwarves romanian accents. 'I vant to suck your blood, but before that I'm going to clobber you in the face with a giant warhammer!'

yep....I do a good romanian impression....=)

Seeing as dwarves are such keen miners shouldn't they really be Welsh?

wait. are you saying the Welsh can speak? Does anyone listen to what they say?

I never knew all dwarves in the mythical realms hailed from Scotland. Please dont stereotype us so! I like the idea of a German, Romanian, or mix (Polish?).

I'd assume it starts with a T, ends with an L, and has ROL thrown in there somewhere.

I say we give them Japanese accents. That would be funny as hell.

But seriously, it isn't a big deal. If it makes you feel better, turn off your speakers whenever a dwarf talks and read his dialogue in a silly voice.

I for one am thankful the dorfs don't talk scots. Because that phenomenon (where'd it ever start anyay) has the effect of implying that highland warrior culture was dumb and brutish, just a bunch of big thugs who liked chopping stuff down.

Plus in this game world the scots accent better fits Dalish elves imho.

spawn, "you're a sad sad little man" get over yourself. forum clotters. i can'r wait untill this forum looses all the annoying folk, i'd like to see it going the same way the baldur's gate forums did.

before you "HURRF DURFF CELLARDWELLERS NEED A LEYF" yeah so do you mate.

what i mean is the friendly competition. like who does the first nightmare spirit healer solo run and what not. ofcourse there are more humane challenges. but these are very entertaining.

Picts FTW.

Besides, if they made the dwarves talk like we truly do here in Scotland they would have to have thought of a new rating for it above (18).

Apparently early in the development devs considered completely separate languages for non-human races. For dwarves, I'm sure they were just plotting to sneak Glaswegian in since none would be the wiser (apart from Glaswegians).

Is it just me, or do the Dwarves sound like they're from New Jersey?

What's worse is that there are beardless male dwarfs. That is just wrong.
