Really think so.  Their heads, anyways. \\

No, they are perfection. Far more perfect than humans.

Though, unfortunately, they are mere imagination, too.

But their heads look like squids. So I was wondering if they are designed over a combination of human and squid.

Maybe squid-human hybrids are the future?

I mean, from an evolutionary PoV it makes sense to have tentacles in addition to human features. They would be really handy for meelee fights, climbing, cooking, whenever you need to hold things, to scratch your back, and millions of other things.

Tentacles are awesomely useful.

And the "entertainment industry" thing Japan is best known for importing.

Spellcheck fail AND a nonsensical title made me all confuzzled.

Of course. Without tentacle .... entertainment... Japan´s economy would crash.

Um if you were talking about me as the OP, I've yet to make a typo on this thread. And the title does make sense, it just can be perceived in non-sensical ways.

They look that way. That was only my point.

Like better looking versions of Calamari from Star Wars.

An asari is an alien species of ME.

What I was wondering if squids influenced the gamemakers in the design of the species. Because I see similarities.

The only reason James Cameron made the Na'vi blue was to cash in on the awesomeness that is the Asari.

Okay forget squid then, since most people aside from me don't see the corrolation. My 2nd hypothesis is Medusa. Not saying that asari are ugly, much the opposite (in a science fiction setting I mean, since if I see one in real life I won't find it attractive). But it's the tentacle for hair that seems similar as snakes for hair.

Well most of the races in Mass Effect have reptilian features and similarities But I think it's mostly just design choices made by the designers and may just be coincidence they look like that or just how you interpret it.

Yes, I just notice similarities betwen alien races and real world animals.

Asari = squid

Hanar = jellyfish

turian = reptile

Salarian = frog

Elcor = elephant

Volus = don't know what they look like under the suits, midgets probably

Bioware clearly looked to nature for visual motifs in Mass Effect. If the Collectors are insectoids, then the Asari are sea-based creatures. And sexy ones at that.

Edit: And I must say to those who post pictures or videos instead of actually commenting on the topic: awfully easy, isn't it?  In short, I agree with op.

arasi = spellcheck fail

OP's replies = comprehension fail

People sure are being petty with the whole spell check thing. This might have developed into a reasonably decent discussion on the artistic inspiration for the character design of Mass Effect. But forget it. Op misspelled Asari, so let's all ridicule him.

Just waitin' to snark, folks are...look at them fins!
