Every replay, I've always done Liara, Feros, Noveria, then Virmire.

What get's me is how I lucky I was in choosing Virmire last for my very first playthrough. Personally, I don't think Virmire belongs anywhere else but last. In terms of story structure, Virmire last makes sense because you confront Saren and you lose one of your closest squadmates.  Plus it feels like the story is really kicking into gear at that point.

In real life, you wouldn't ignore the Council's request FOR that long, but, in my first playthrough, I chose to because I wanted to do the first 3 planets assigned to me first and I saw that Virmire was very pretty compared to the other planets so I decided to do it later.

Yeah Therum->Feros->Noveria->Virmire is my "canon" planet order, though it's fun to mix it up sometimes.

While I usually do the Therum -> Noveria/Feros -> Virmire scheme, I think having Virmire more in the middle seems more cannon. As I believe there is one point in the final confrontation with Saren where he mentions how he's had significant upgrades since Virmire. And it just doesn't feel like a long enough time inbetween those events happening.

I tend to do Feros, Therum, Virmire, then Noveria. To me, it makes more sense that Noveria is last because Benezia tells you that she has just transmitted the location of the Mu Relay to Saren. After the beacons and the cipher, it's the last critical portion of the puzzle that Saren needs to get to Ilos. Once Benezia gives him the coordinates, it truly does feel like it's a race against time to get to it first.

And I agree that it seems like there should be a good period of time between meeting Saren on Virmire and him telling you he's had significant upgrades.

Therum is like 1/5 the size of the other plot worlds. I do it first to get it out of the way.

My main character's route was Ferros, Therum, (X-57), Virmire, Noveria. The first time I played it I didn't have Bring Down the Sky but years later when I recreated him it was 3rd.



Most other playthroughs I usually leave the cloning facility on Virmire for last.

I usually do BDtS first to get a guaranteed Savant X omni-tool.

Usually, I do Therum, Feros, Noveria, Virmire, but at least one play through you should leave Therum until last just to see insane/exasperated Liara.



As for doing BDtS first, you'll only get the Savant X if you're higher level, I think. I know for a fact that the armor scales by level. So I'd strongly expect the omni-tool to do so as well.

I like to do Therum->Feros->Virmire->Noveria as i think it is what makes more sense from a roleplay point of view. Between each mission i do the other sidequests, unless is something very important that it can´t wait (like the speed run to Ilos, no sense in wasting time doing other things).

Noveria, Therum, X57, (and sub missions through out the clusters) then Ferros, Virmire, then Citadel?

The official guide goes Therum, Noveria, Feros, Virmire which is written with some input from BW. IIRC some where on the old ME2 forum a BW employee confirmed that order as the intended one. Therum, Feros, Noveria, Virmire actually seems to be the best implemented order: When you confront Benezia the dialogue acknowledges what you learnt about indoctrination from Shiala but doing the encounters the other way around it assumes feros is the first you've heard of indoctrination. Doing Therum after Virmire is worth a try, I won't spoil it for those that haven't done it yet.

Out of interest has anyone tried Feros after Virmire? Is then any acknowledgement of prior knowledge of indoctrination. I would try it myself but Red Dead Redemption is eating all my gaming time for now.

People are in the most danger on Feros
