I have an update that says this:
1 New Tag(s) on Your Group Photo: Untitled
When I click on it I get this message:
An Error Has Occurred.
The group you are looking for has been deleted or does not exist.
Now the update won't go away. I have a permanent 1 New Update(s).

Yes, multiple times, and it didn't work.Snoteye wrote...
Have you tried explicitly clearing the browser cache?

You are clicking the one on the left next to the message when you are viewing your updates, and not the red X on the right in the orange update box?

I've tried both, and neither works. The orange box always comes back.Liana Nighthawk wrote...

I just did, and the problem persists. Also, for some reason Explorer 8.0 won't show all the images correctly, but that's probably just an issue with the browser settings or something.Snoteye wrote...
Will you try it with IE?

[Edit: False alarm. However, it now seems that the orange box only appears on certain forum pages. When I navigated to my profile page or friends feed, the box wasn't there. When I came back to check this thread, the box reappeared. I then repeated "the solution" mentioned above and the box didn't reappear in this thread. However, when I navigated to another forum thread, the box reappeared. It would now seem that I need to use "the solution" on each thread I visit to get rid of the box altogether. Seems a lot of work to get rid of a small annoyance.]

Hitting the x only makes the message go away until you change the page again. Then it will pop back up.

Unfortunately, the problem returned today, so I'm back to square one. :|Snoteye wrote...

As for sending a friend request to the person who sent me the one that caused the problem in the first place, no can do. It was just a random friend request by a person I didn't know, and I've already forgotten their user name.

No, every time I log in, it keeps coming back. If I repeat the procedure I explained earlier, it goes away for the day, but as soon as I come back the next day, the orange box is there. So, back to ignore mode for me. Glad it worked for you, though!Nightwriter wrote...
Hey, the problem went away! I looked more closely at one of the above suggestions. Thanks, guys. Swirlwind, still no go for you?

Nope. :|Nightwriter wrote...
I had not realized there was an X next to the update in the actual message list that pops up after you click the orange bubble. Clicking this did not work for you?
