They just don't talk about it because that would be unstenlike.
I just made up a new word.

I quiet like him myself I always use him for tuffer battles but you can loose him quiet easily if you do side quests
Actually depending on what you do he approvas eg giving money to the brother and sister in redcliffe.

Oh I LOVE doing that. Best persuade technique ever. I wish I could just threaten everyone with him and Shale, things would be so much easier.Bigdoser wrote...
It was quite funney when I used sten to threaten people while on his side quest.

I thought Sten only threatened to leave if you brought him to Haven before getting his sword back?
or his approval is low enough (either at that point or in camp), he basically says he should take lead over you

Shut yo' mouth!
I'm just talkin' 'bout Sten!
I admit I didn't do much with Sten on my first two playthroughs, but he's been absolutely central to my third. He got concepts like duty/identity across to my DCF and really challenged her to decide if she was going to be a no-account brand or a Grey Warden.
*Such* a better mentor than Wynne.

I like pestering Mary about the lack of a Sten romance. She keeps telling me it's already in there.
You just have to look for it
