You can't leave him to die. You automatically take a pinch of the ashes (otherwise what's the point of going) and the Disciples welcome the Blight because they want Dragon Andraste to remake the world in her image.
I agree, there would be no real point in going, other than to get drops, xp, and soverigns. Forgot that part

I completed an evil warrior who turned out to be a Reaver, and did not know that you HAD to rescue Arl Eamon, but not that it made a difference anyway; even after helping the cultists desecrate the ashes, I backstabbed them to have at it against the High Dragon.
Anyway sorry back on main topic: I am sorry, I appreciate Sten backing me up against the darkspawn, but I still hold true to my word. If there is ever a time where Qunari from Seheron intend to take over Ferelden, I will not shed a tear for any of them, not even Sten, should he be foolish enough
