...  that he / she wanted to name your firstborn a character from a game, or the name of his / her player-character from DA:O or WoW;

how would you react? Image IPB

Depends on the name. If it is something unique and tasteful, I'd say let's go with it.

If it's tacky, moronic, and ill-fitted for a child, then no. I'd have to slap some sense into him.

LOL, that reminds me of a conversation I had with my husband recently.  I'm pregnant and I suggested the name Cailan to my husband and he laughed at me.  Then he said Morrigan and I laughed at him.

What would be example of something unique and tasteful in your mind? Have any good names you'd share? =p

Well he/she won't be a child forever now will they? In fact they will NOT be a child for....most of their life actually.

"OMG WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? NAME IT AFTER MY CHARACTER!"

....ahem.

Seriously though, depends on the name. If it turns out to be something like 'l337 boi' I will literaly say "W.T.F" Although if it's a good name I would probably allow it.

Actually I don't really mind when I think about it but then again kids seems like a far off thought. I think I'd be fond of Duke Nukem if he's a boy, or Waluigi if she's a girl. I'll just have to draw the zigzag mustache before introducing her.

If your WoW name is "Warpig" or some other internet username type thing, I'd say that is ill-fitted for a child, or any person for that matter. And to elaborate on the above post, I don't think ANYONE should be named Waluigi, especially a girl.

Unique and tasteful? One name I use in games is "Lumarye", which is quite tasteful in my opinion.

Well if my wife had a kitten....sure I guess. I might have to call Maury for the DNA test on that one though.

I had no idea Beth Riesgraf was married to Jason Lee. I was aware he was engaged to someone and that they named their child Pilot Inspektor, but not that it was her. Maybe her character in Leverage isn't much loonier than she is. :blink:

As to the question posed by this thread, my answer is no. I would refuse that. Choosing our child's name would be very important to me, and I'd want it to be more than "we named him/her after a favorite game character." XD

God help us if someone named a child Boo, after Balder's Gate 2.

My view, nope i wouldn't also.
