I've tried adding in a custom heraldry in my module, and I can get as far as posting it to the local build and putting it on the shield; the only problem is that when I put the heraldry on the shield, it covers the entire shield with gray, overriding the texture on the shield.

Here's a shot of my problem: www.mediafire.com/imageview.php

Can anybody tell me what's wrong? Will provide more information as needed

Does your heraldry DDS texture have the correct alpha channel settings? You need to make sure that you have full transparency set where you want the underlying texture to show through, and then make sure to export it as a DXT3 or DXT5 format DDS which preserves the alpha properly.

I'll try that. I had it saved as a TGA because for some reason a DDS wouldn't import (at least a DXT1 wouldn't), but I'll experiment some more

EDIT: all of the DDS's I save from photoshop (with a transparent background) mess up the image... any other suggestions?

EDIT 2: not only that, but the toolset gives me a "can't read texture from file" error whenever I try to import a DDS

In Photoshop, it helps to start with a TGA that has the correct alpha channel, then replace the image without changing the format. I haven't done this for Dragon Age yet, but I imagine you could take an official heraldry dds, then convert to TGA, to achieve this.

Ah! Most excellent. Thanks for that idea, Proleric. Although I had trouble to begin with (kept overlaying my design on whatever design I used to start on), I realized I hadn't changed the alpha channel to match my design, and that fixed it, so all is well. Thanks a lot!
