I have gotten to the point where I saved the Arl by giving him the ashes and am off to save Anora from that vile serpent Arl Howe (may he die a thousand deaths by squirrel bite), in case you are wondering where I am in the story. Alistair is all lovey-dovey, and despite that fact that I hadn't planned to have my character sleep with him, he was pretty darn persuasive when he decied that's what he wanted to do...so...yeah, the romance is all in full bloom and all.
I did, unfortunately, read a spoiler where Alistair sacrifices himself to defeat the archdemon. This would make me...grumpy. I don't like those sorts of endings. If it's truly unavoidable, I'll prefer to just start over and avoid his romance altogether - and yes, that means starting OVER over, and losing..errr...about 60 hours of play time, I think.
Please, someone tell me this is avoidable and how? I don't mind spoilers. My poor Mariah Cousland has lost enough loved ones in this game.
